Chapter 4
I got to school the next morning and walked in the door. And there, almost as if she were waiting for me, was Gigi and entourage. She spied me and smiled an icy cold, aloof smile.
"Well look who's here girls. Did you learn anything yesterday?" She asks, her tone as aloof and icy as her smile.
"If you mean to kiss up to and fear you like everyone else than you can forget it," I replied, brushing past her. I didn't even touch her, but I heard a shriek and turned to find her on the floor holding her ankle.
As if out of nowhere, Mr. Johnson appeared. "What is going on here?" He asked sternly, looking between Gigi on the floor and me.
"Sh...she just shoved me to the floor," Gigi whimpered like puppy. "I didn't do anything."
Mr. Johnson turned to me. "Rayn I expected better out of you. You showed such promise and all you have done is get in trouble." He handed me the expected detention slip and helped Gigi to her feet, before leaving.
"I rule this school," she said smugly. "Sooner or later you will relent or get expelled. I always get things the way I want."
"Well it sounds to me like its about time you got introduced to real life where you don't get everything you want," I retorted just as the warning bell for first classes rang.
I turned and left a sputtering Gigi behind, her entourage trying to console her. I couldn't help the smile that quirked up the right side of my mouth. I reached Geometry and dropped into my desk, trying not to groan.
The day passed uneventfully and before I knew it, it was time for detention again. I reached it to find the same group as yesterday all assembled. Mr. Johnson came in right behind me.
"You know the drill," he growled at us. "And Rayn, stop getting in trouble." He left then, closing the door behind him.
I looked around me at group and shook my head. "Gigi?' I asked and they nodded, Jesse ignoring me as usual. "So what is Gigi's problem and why does everyone kiss up to her?"
"Her dad owns this town and she has him wrapped around her finger since her mom died. Tommy Berkstein ticked her off really bad one day and the next, his parents shop had been seized. They were left with nothing and left town." Warren sat back proudly, waiting for my response to his story.
I shook my head sadly. "So she gets EVERYTHING she wants and everyone lives in fear. That's retard and its no wonder she thinks she is queen of the world."
"You should watch yourself around her, who knows what she might do to you," Warren warned.
"I'm not afraid of her," I retorted, knowing that I would probably end up moving on sooner or later anyway. All she could take from me would be my job at the stable and if she tried to take Bellisario it wouldn't do her any good. He won't let anyone else ride him.
Warren gasped and Amethyst looked shocked, even Jesse looked vaguely interested. Before they could say anything or ask gobs of questions, Mr. Johnson came barging in. "All right, detention is over. Go home and STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!"
