Iris went with them, and was glad to be in a different room. She needed to really think about things and come to terms with the fact that she and her best friend were somehow five hundred years in the past and stuck there for the time being.
Once the girls were in the next room, Ezio went to see what he could do about the other Assassin. After all, he doubted a man from 1200 would have an easy time adjusting to 1489.

Anna found a nice place to sit and flopped over. "I declare it nap time," she mumbled. It would give things some time to sink in, and even though it was still fairly early she was exhausted. Time travel and all that, she figured.
Altair had moved over to a window, looking outside silently. The biggest differences were the architechture and the dress. Otherwise he didn't see too many obvious changes from his time.

"You do that," Iris replied. She sat down next to Anna and leaned against the wall. "Do they really think we can be assassins? That's got to be almost the complete opposite of the kind of person I am. The only way it could be a complete oxymoron is if I was a doctor or something."
"I believe this is the first moment I've gotten to introduce myself, Brother," Ezio said as he moved over next to Altair. "I am Ezio Auditore da Firenze."

Anna shrugged. "I don't know about that. I mean, the sneaking around part, yeah, I think we could do that. But actually hurting people?" She shivered briefly. "I don't think so. Not easily, at any rate."
"Altair Ibn la'Ahad," he said, inclining his head to Ezio. "Well met. Although these are unusual circumstances, to say the least."

"I don't think so, either," Iris replied. She sighed. "We deal with history, we're not supposed to be dropped in the middle of it."
Ezio nodded.
"Indeed," he replied. Inwardly, the wheels in his head were turning. He'd heard that name before, he just had to remember where he'd heard it. He would look into it as soon as he could.

Anna nodded. "I know. I never actually wanted to get this in depth in my studies..."
Altair stayed staring out the window for long moments before he looked at Ezio again. "You said the Order is not as prevalent in this time?"

"Not at all," Ezio replied. "I have met very few of the Brotherhood, and some are relatives of mine. Or were." He didn't mention the fact that his father had apparently been an Assassin, but he had no trouble admitting so about his uncle.

Altair nodded slowly. "There are a few dozen of us at any given point in my time," he said, glancing at Ezio. "With new recruits and trainees all the time." And hopefully he'd be able to help Ezio build up the Brotherhood in this time, too. Because otherwise he wasn't sure the Brotherhood would survive.

"I personally know perhaps six others," Ezio said, taking a mental tally. "There may or may not be more out in the world elsewhere, I do not know." He paused for a moment, thinking. "I wonder if perhaps the girls could tell us whether or not the Brotherhood survives? Although, given their reactions earlier, I would have to assume not." And that was a bad thing, really. Especially if the Templar Order survived like he suspected, given the girls' story.

Altair shook his head. "I do not think so. I cannot say for certain if the Brotherhood still exists in their time, but I had the feeling we were all brought here for a reason. To help you and to help them, perhaps."

"Anything is possible where the Apple is concerned," Ezio agreed. He glanced towards the door. "Although I doubt they will be particularly enthusiastic apprentices."

"Agreed." Altair glanced back at the room. He figured he could start Iris at least on more basic things; wall climbing, jumping, learning to fall properly. Things like that. He could ease her into weapons training a little later.

Iris ended up being surprisingly comfortable in the clothes she and Anna had been given as temporary things. Granted, she was usually fairly comfortable in corsets, but she was still surprised at how easily she was able to wear them.
Ezio was also surprised, if only because he hadn't expected the girls to even know how to wear the dresses. He had set aside their old clothes, however. Never know when such things might be necessary again for whatever reason.

Anna had adjusted hers a bit so it was more comfortable, but she put her hair up all the same and she was perfectly comfortable.
The first time Altair had seen the girls, he nearly had a heart attack. It didn't occur to him until a little later that they actually looked good like that. But mostly it was culture shock; he was used to women hiding their skin, not showing it off.
So he went and got men's clothes for Iris, at least. He didn't care what Ezio did with his trainee, but Iris was not going to be training dressed like that.
Anna looked at Ezio with her eyebrows raised and her arms crossed over her chest. "Well?" He had said something about training, after all, and she wanted to know how much and how vigorously she had to protest to get out of it.

Ezio just raised an eyebrow in reply and held out a package for her. While she had been otherwise occupied with the dress and her sulking (because yes, that's what it was), Ezio had gone out and used her former clothes as a template to get her something more appropriate for training.
"Make sure those fit," he said to her. "We will begin your training tomorrow morning."
Iris was already examining the new clothes she'd been given. She liked dresses, she really did, and corsets were amazing things when they fit right, but she was still inexplicably pleased to see a pair of pants in what Altair had handed her. She was less thrilled when she saw how many layers there seemed to be, though.
"Why are there like six layers here?" she asked. Six layers was outrageous, really.

Anna took the clothes and nodded, not even bothering to argue. She just went back and changed, pulling on the shirt and pants. But she left the cloak off for the moment.
"Better, o lord and master?" she asked sarcastically, moving back over to him and putting a hand on her hip.
"They're concealing, and they're light," Altair said with a shrug. It was what he was used to. "You will not overheat." And really the layers fit together well. They were all light, and each layer was semi-see-through, so together they made a very nice outfit that was comfortable and soft and easy to move in.

"A change of clothes sometimes works wonders," Ezio commented as he looked Anna over. "A change of attitude sometimes works more. But the clothes are a start."
"If I can get away with fewer layers, I might," Iris replied as she pulled at a couple of them. "A person could drown in this." But she had to admit that he was right in one respect; the outfit was surprisingly easy to move in.

Anna snorted. "A start." She rolled her eyes at him, still rather annoyed. She didn't want to be here, and she was not content to just sit around and make the best of it. Hey, if she was miserable, she was going to have company, dammit. And not Iris this time.
Altair shrugged. "Three layers is decent enough," he said. "If you feel it necessary." He was sure she'd get used to the layers in time, but in the meantime, if she really wanted to take off a few layers he wouldn't stop her.

Iris suppressed a snort. She was fairly sure that he expected her to wear all six layers regardless. Three layers was decent enough... He freaked out when he caught a glimpse of the 'cleavage zone.'
"Uh huh," she said.
Ezio just raised an eyebrow at Anna.
"When you take your Leap of Faith, then you can choose your own attire," he said. "Until then, this is best."

Altair shrugged again. "If you have enough energy to complain you must have energy to go for a run." And if there was a very slightly malicious gleam in his eyes, well, he never claimed to be nice did he?
Anna paused at that. "Leap of Faith. As in actually leaping off things? Like climbing up somewhere?" That freaked her out just a little. Because she had a closet fear of heights.

"Running?" Iris repeated, looking at him. Her eyes went a little wide. She got the feeling he didn't mean like an easy jog around the block.
"Perhaps," Ezio said, looking at Anna as he spoke. "You will find out when it comes time to learn. For now, the first order of business is to get you into proper shape." He smirked just slightly. "Time for a run."

"Running," Altair repeated. "I suggest you head for the door." Because he could see she was going to need a little reason to run, and he could be very intimidating when he wanted to be.
"Running." Anna looked at him for a moment. Better than climbing buildings like King Kong or something. Although that mental image made her grin briefly. "Okay, fine. I can run."

Iris caught the gleam in his eyes, remembered the word 'Assassin,' and went for the door. There were some challenges she just wasn't stupid enough to make.
"Good," Ezio replied, "because you will be doing a lot of it." And he would integrate climbing into the regime fairly quickly, as well. If she could not run along the rooftops soon, then he was not fit to teach her.

Altair followed behind her at a sedate pace for the moment. He would give her some time to warm up first and then he'd run her into the ground. Because you never knew when you needed to run from guards.
And taunting them while doing so was always fun, too.
Anna snorted. "Fine by me. Running I don't mind." Since she'd done a lot of it already, she could run just fine. She'd been on her high school cross country team. Running was not going to be an issue.
Climbing would be, though.

Oh yes, Iris ended up being run into the ground more times than she could count. It wasn't fun, and she steadfastly refused to believe it counted as anything other than torture. But, unsurprisingly, she got better at it. Somehow. Moreso than running, Iris was good at climbing, even surprising herself with that previously unknown skill. It was easier for her to climb up and out of sight rather than trying to outrun someone.
