Altair nodded, kissing her briefly before he got up carefully, moving into the other room and going over to the other two.

"This is Amaya," he said quietly, kneeling so they could see her.

Anna smiled, her heart melting a little at the big dark eyes staring out at her and Ezio.

Ezio let Anna look at the child first. When it was his turn to see the baby, he smiled slightly.

"Congratulations, brother," he said softly. "She is beautiful."

Altair smiled, clearly pleased. "She is," he agreed quietly. He looked at Ezio. "Make you want one of your own?" He was actually curious.

"I have been entertaining the notion for several months, now," Ezio admitted quietly to his friend. "However, we have agreed to wait, and watch how you and Iris fare."

"Use us as test subjects." Altair had to agree it was a sound idea. And he really couldn't fault Ezio for that. So he just nodded, staying there for another minute before he started glancing back into the other room to check on Iris.

"A beautiful little girl," Ezio commented to Anna as Altair walked away. "Lucky man."

Iris had ended up dozing off on the bed, and was sleeping soundly when Altair came back in. She was lying flat on her stomach with her arms under her head; her preferred way of sleeping that she hadn't been able to achieve for the better part of a year.

"Indeed." Anna watched him walk away too. "She's adorable. And she's been good so far, although we'll see how long that lasts."

Altair smiled faintly and settled in next to her, cradling Amaya against his chest and stomach, just letting Iris sleep. He could keep track of their girl for a while.

"I think he wanted a son, right up until he went into that room and saw her," Ezio said. "He mentioned to me once he wouldn't mind a son. I think he's changed his mind for the moment."

Anna laughed quietly. "I'd be more surprised if he hadn't," she said honestly. "I mean, it's his kid. It might not be what he expected, or necessarily what he thought he wanted, but that sort of changes."

"True," Ezio replied. He smirked slightly. "I pity the poor boy who tries to ask for Amaya's hand when she's of age."

Now that the new parents had gotten a chance to fawn over their newborn in peace, the midwife went to check on the new mother. She smiled slightly when she saw the little family all settled in. She paused when she noticed that Altair was spending the time watching the baby, rather than keeping Iris awake.

"Good, she's resting," she commented, stepping into the room. "I was going to insist she get some sleep while she could."

Anna snorted. "There will be no poor boy. He will cease to exist because Altair will glare him into nothingness." She snickered.

Altair nodded, looking at the midwife again. "She was asleep when I came back," he said quietly. He knew she must be exhausted, and he wouldn't wake her for anything. Nor would he have her woken. So when Amaya started to fuss a little, he shushed her and held her closer, soothing her back to sleep again.

Ezio chuckled slightly.

"This is true," he agreed.

"Good," the midwife said quietly. She wasn't about to wake the girl, either. "Make sure she gets as much rest as she can, it'll be a while before the little one sleeps through the night." She gave Altair a stern look. "And no getting frisky with your lady for at least a month. Six weeks is better, but a month is required."

Anna snickered at the thought and settled back against Ezio again.

"You might have to carry me home, I don't think I can move."

Altair snorted quietly. "I will keep that in mind," he said quietly. And he would. Now he just had to tell Iris and then direct any possible ire to the midwife instead of himself.

"You've been through worse," Ezio pointed out, even as he put his arms around her waist. "If you can get home under your own power, I think a hot bath might be in order." He grinned a bit. "Perhaps a massage if you ask nicely."

The midwife nodded a bit, mentally running through her list of information.

"She'll be sore for a while," she said. "I don't think I need to tell you to make sure she takes it easy for a little while."

"Maybe, but this is different. Even distracted, Altair was a Mentor. You really think I had anything close to a chance?" Anna made a face. "The only reason I'm still mobile is because you took away his blade. Damn Arab almost broke mine."

Altair nodded. He'd see to it that she took it easy for at least a few days, until she was feeling better.

"I will find someone to take a look at it," Ezio promised. He tried to ignore the little twinge he felt when he couldn't stop the thought from forming that he couldn't take the blade to Leo for him to look over. "You both needed the spar. Even more than the tension, I think you both needed an excuse to fight one another."

"Good," the midwife said. "And congratulations," she added. She glanced at the little family one more time before slipping from the room again.

"Well remind me never to do it again." Anna made a face, managing to get to her feet and actually wincing. "I think that's the worst beating I've ever gotten, including your training."

Altair smiled faintly and settled in there, content to just sit and watch over his family for a while.

Ezio gave her a soft kiss and got up as well.

"Let's get you home, then," he said. "A hot bath will work wonders. We need not stay here any longer, the excitement is over."

Anna nodded, making her way back to the house. Once there, she was more than happy to let Ezio be in charge of the bath while she divested herself of weapons and stripped, donning a bath robe instead.

Ezio managed to start the bath for her, although sometimes the taps for the water still gave him trouble. Once the bath was set up, he went to go get comfortable himself. Around the house, he could get away with fewer layers and weapons.

Anna passed him on her way into the bathroom, getting settled into her bath with a little groan. Yup, she was going to be even more sore tomorrow, and probably have some bruises, but she figured Altair would too. Which made her feel just a little bit better.

Once he heard Anna settle into the bath, Ezio went into the kitchen and pulled down a pair of glasses. It was never too early for wine, and besides, they had a reason to indulge this time. After all, it wasn't every day that one's friends became parents. Once he'd poured the wine, he took a glass to Anna.

"Would you like some, la mia dolce?" he asked from the doorway.

"Sure. Thanks." Anna smiled a little and sat up part-way, keeping her hair pulled out of the way.

"Looks like we've got the house to ourselves, for the night at least."

"Indeed we do," Ezio replied. "Should we make use of what may be the last quiet evening we may get for a while?" He grinned a bit.

"Only if you can persuade me to move. Or have me make room." Anna grinned, pinning her hair up and leaning back against the tub again.
