Iris made a small sound at that, but was stopped from saying any more when Amaya began fussing. It quickly grew into a wail, and Iris knew the baby was hungry. Cautiously sitting down on the bed, Iris used one arm to hold Amaya and the other hand to open her shirt so she could feed her. Amaya quickly quieted down once she had what she wanted.

"Are we not allowed to drop in on a friend?" Ezio asked in reply, returning the hug. "Although yes, I think my blade needs to be looked at." He grinned a bit at his friend. He figured the best way to determine how long they had been gone was to let Leo take a look at his weapons. The artist always had some sort of comment about how quickly Ezio was able to wear down blades.

Altair stayed quiet while she fed Amaya, instead moving around his room getting used to it again. It had been a long time since he'd been home. It felt very nice.

Leo sighed, tolerantly amused, and held out a hand for the blade. Then he paused when he actually looked at it.

"This is more than even you could do in the few weeks since I've seen you," he said, eyeing Ezio. "What have you been doing?"

Once Amaya was finished, Iris cuddled her a bit and watched Altair move around the room.

"It suits you," she commented. "The room. I can definitely tell it's yours."

"Life has been... interesting, of late," Ezio replied. Only a few weeks? They had been gone for at least a year. Interesting.

"I have not had it for long," Altair said after a moment. "Less than a year."

Leo shook his head. "Clearly," he said, putting the blade on the table to deal with in a bit. "And what about yours?"

Anna grimaced. "Yeah, mine needs help." She handed it over silently.

Leo was silent for a moment. "How did you break it?"

"Sparring with Altair?" Anna grinned sheepishly.

Leo just sighed.

"Still," Iris said. "I like it." She smiled a bit and looked down when Amaya burbled cheerfully. "I bet Amaya does, too."

"Your work still held up admirably, Leo," Ezio pointed out. "As always."

Altair chuckled quietly and moved over to tickle Amaya. He wouldn't say it aloud but he was glad they were comfortable there. Or at least in his rooms.

Leo snorted. "One day you are going to give me the whole story," he said, giving them both a Look. "But I will repair these. It'll take a few hours, at least. You're welcome to stay if you'd like."

Iris smiled and handed him the baby when he came over.

"She's happier now that she's had something to eat," she commented. "The trip doesn't seem to have bothered her much, which is good."

"One day," Ezio agreed vaguely. If nothing else, he would at least tell Leo parts of the whole story.

Altair smiled a little, cuddling Amaya a bit. "She should adjust well here," he said quietly. "Although we will have to arrange for clothing for you both."

Leo gave him a look that told him he wasn't fooled in the least, but he started working anyway.

"I thought so," Iris replied. She smiled a bit. "My own clothes don't quite fit here, and neither do hers."

Ezio wandered about the workshop, looking at the latest creations. He made sure to stay far away from the flying machine, but paused as he passed the painting Leo had been working on for some time.

"Leo," he said, "this painting, it looks just about finished. Did we interrupt you working on it?" He knew what the finished product would look like, of course... He'd nearly had a heart attack when Anna had shown it to him in her time and told him who had painted it.

Altair chuckled quietly. "Indeed. Well, we shall find suitable clothing soon for you and her both." He leaned over and kissed her forehead, careful not to jostle Amaya.

Leo blinked. "Hmm? Oh, no, no. I needed to take a break to write down a thought. I will have that finished soon, though." Leo looked at him. "Why? Are you interested?"

Iris smiled a bit and tucked herself against his side. She was feeling a bit more at ease now, and was glad that he was helping her.

"Thanks," she said softly.

"Just curious," Ezio replied. No way was he going to reveal that it would become one of the most famous paintings in history. "It's very good."

"My pleasure." Altair smiled a little, pulling her closer. He was glad to see her relaxing.

Leo looked at him briefly before he shrugged, going back to his work.

Anna was relaxing slowly as she sat around in the workshop, just looking at everything. At least this was more familiar.

Iris leaned against him, one hand going to brush Amaya's cheek gently. The baby grabbed one of Iris's fingers and put it into her mouth, and Iris grinned a little.

After looking around the workshop, Ezio settled in to watch Leo work. He knew his blade was in bad shape, and Anna's was in worse, but there was nobody else he trusted to repair them.

Altair smiled faintly and stayed there, content to just relax with both of them for a while. He'd see about getting clothes for them soon.

Anna watched Leo work as well, although she spaced out more than once.

It took a few hours, but Leo handed over the blades to each of them.

"There. Those should work better. I made a few little adjustments besides the blades as well."

"What do you think everyone here will say when they realize Amaya is yours?" Iris asked quietly after a little while. "To them, you haven't been gone long at all."

"You're a miracle-worker, Leo," Ezio said as he accepted his blade again. He tested the release quickly and grinned. "Wonderful."

Altair sighed. "I will have to come up with something," he said quietly. "I do not like lying to them, but the truth would be worse."

Leo just smiled. "Try to keep them in better condition this time." He grinned though. He didn't mind taking care of things like this.

Iris contemplated it for a moment.

"Perhaps you don't have to lie quite as much," she said. "Before this, how often did you leave the fortress?" If he had happened to leave at about the right time, they could pass it off as a passing fling that resulted in a child.

"We'll try," Ezio said. He grinned a bit. "I make no promises, though."

"I could argue that," Altair said slowly. "But then I have to explain your presence here. I would not normally let a... fling into my personal rooms."

Leo rolled his eyes at him but smiled. "Is there anything else I can do for you, my friend?"

Iris shrugged a bit.

"Amaya is still far too small to be here without me," she pointed out. "I need to nurse her every few hours." It seemed like a valid enough excuse to her.

"Nothing pressing," Ezio replied. "I did mean it when I said we wanted to drop in. It seems like we haven't seen you in longer than just a few weeks."

Altair nodded again. "We will see how that goes," he decided. "For now, I do not think I will have to explain to anyone but Malik."

Leo looked at him oddly for a moment before he nodded, accepting that for the moment.

Iris nodded and settled in next to him again. She smiled when Amaya gave a big yawn and snuggled up to her father to sleep.

Ezio enjoyed the companionship of his friend for a little while longer before reluctantly getting up.

"I believe we've distracted you from your work long enough, Leo," he said.

Altair smiled faintly and settled in there to let her nap for a bit. He'd have to see about building a good cradle for her.

"No distraction at all. Come back sometime, before those need repairing again." Leo smiled at him, walking over to hug them both again.

"I think she has the right idea," Iris said softly, snuggling a bit closer to him herself. "Neither of us got much rest before we were brought here, maybe a nap is in order for all three of us."

"We will," Ezio said, returning the hug.

Altair chuckled quietly. "You two nap. I'll stay up." He moved over to his pillow nest, since he didn't actually have a proper bed, and settled down.

Leo nodded and hugged Anna too before he let them go off again.

"So what now?" Anna asked quietly as they left.

"I think you could use some rest too," Iris protested as she got settled in the pillow nest. It was surprisingly comfortable. "You were doing more with the trainees than I was, and for longer."

"Now, we get settled for the day. I think I know how we should use our time here," Ezio said. "The presence of the Brotherhood is very weak, here. Our numbers are very low. It needs to be fixed."
