Can I have some feedback on the constellation avi for this round?
The dotty background is all the constellation points :)
The whole avi is inspired by the night sky, with clouds and stars.



I'd love if the judges could give some feedback for this avi, as I was criticised for my avi being too busy and not coomunicating my intentions, which was fair, so I want to see if this one does any better :)

I also made ptolemy/ptolemaeus.
The first person to create an accurate star chart. So here he is, looking up at the stars, documenting his findings.

I'm sorry, I don't comment on avatars before the actual judging. For me this is in the honor of keeping things fair. I can't always comment on people, due to various reasons, and I don't like people to think I helped one person more then the other. So I purposefully remain quiet on that front.

Ohh~ I definitely dig the Ptolemy avatar, Eastyy! The concept of cosplaying a historical fiture is definitely different but I would say it fits the prompt. I like how you didn't use a telescope because he would not have had one available to use, too! All I can think of is adding some more stars in the background (Squishy's Space Protector) but past that I think you've got it!

I could also do with some advice on this avatar.
The concept is that the circle is the star chart with stars/sun/and a planet (the ball at my feet) going around it, the sash is the milky way and the figure is, in effect, Nox wearing Midnight and Moonlight.

@Eastyy: I think your night sky avatar is quite clear in it's theme and has good layering. I quite like your Ptolemy cosplay though. Even without knowing who it was right away, it made me think of an old-time horoscope reader. I agree with Mythos about adding Space Protector stars to the background—I would add the blue ones, and maybe remove the silver sparkles you currently have if it looks too cluttered? Either way, I think both are good entries. I think everyone's submissions are going to be heavily reliant on inspirations pictures this round.

@Mythos: I think your avi is beautiful. I got the chart/sun/planet idea right away, (I was also thinking of doing that combo) and the avi does look like some sort of sky/nighttime goddess. I wouldn't have thought of Nox of the top of my head, but I can see it now that you've said it.

I don't know if you saw, but I wanted to double check that DAC entries are okay. I remember reading that they were, but I can't find it on the first page anymore.

@Chexala- the answer is yes, they are.

wow those are both really good easty! i think you should enter the one you feel more inspired you. i do agree with Chexala's comments in that reference pictures are always a good idea and that the blue one might be a little cluttered. but i still love it a lot. it really screams night sky which is great.

Eastyy: Love the Ptolemy avatar! And not just because I've been wishing a more astronomical presence to our avatars *cough* I think you have a good combination of era and profession, even without the ref image (which you've done a great job capturing) I also personally love that you've used the Berenice sparkles, her being another part of the Ptolemy picture I wonder though, would one of the scrolls from the Where's the Rum EI look better than the book? They both would work, imo.

Haha, yeah, I have hardly any purple items. I just love those posh overskirts.

Kent; I think the blue starry background and some extra stars would really compliment the avi, you've executed the touches of silver really well :) xxxx

i agree with easty, the blue background would really help the little bubbles you have on there be a lot more visible.

I like the background better, Kent... but if you're not happy with it, maybe the blue starry background from classic movie night would work better? I can loan it to you!

I tried the classic movie night background too. I think it just bothers me that there is no blue floor. XD
I'll settle with the avi having no background.

Yeah, I keep making suggestions for solid color floors and walls, darnit! The nifty new interior design stuff is a big step in the right direction, though.
