Sudden brainwave: What about a masquerade is in place to hide all those with powers, and somebody wants to expose it?

Anyways, here be my character:


Name: Gwenlin
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Appearance: Long brown hair and brown eyes; wears a leather dress in the style
of the clan she came from; has a little grey monkey on her shoulder.
Background: When Gwenlin was ten, her parents went on a cruise and took her
with. Her name was Gwen Lin Lee. Midway through the holiday, the ship sank, and
the captain of the ship hauled her out of the water onto a floating piece of
debris. The tide took Gwen to a nearby island, where she was found by the
island's natives. When asked her name, she told them she was Gwen Lin - giving
both her first and middle name - which eventually got contracted into Gwenlin.
The tribe took her in and taught her their own language, and Gwenlin all but
forgot English. The language of the tribe allowed them to speak to animals, and
Gwenlin used this skill to gain her friend, Meldo, a little monkey. She eventually came back to the mainland and, after two years, has learned English fairly well, though she still speaks with a slight accent.

Appearance: Above average height, athletic lean muscular build. Shoulder length black hair with a white highlighted strip at the front on his right side with a chinstrap and light mustache. Lavender colored eyes. Prefers to wear a long sleeved collared robe-like top that stops just shy of his knees, long pants and black leather boots.
Background: Born into a house where magic was prevalent, from a young age the boy was drilled in the arcane arts. It was soon noticed that his powers didn't lie the field of the elements but rather in the complicated art of illusions. Becoming an expert with his magic was how Rhea spent his days, when he wasn't studying in school. Consequently, despite being well spoken and polite he is socially lacking. Never having made any real friends, he struggles at time to talk to people or even express himself.

Nice char ^^ And maybe like a ball, or maybe people would be out to get them if they discovered there were people with powers around.

Sorry my computer wasn't letting me get on mene all day so I couldn't reply. :sweat: Anywasy I like the second idea. I think there should just be a group hunting for us and possibly harvesting our abilities maybe?

Aaaaaand I just started a roleplay with someone with that exact plot xD We could do that, though. And yeah, Mene wasn't working for me, either, don't worry. I'll go to bed now, so we'll finish sorting this out tomorrow.

Good afternoon. An ideas for what we could do?

Not gonna lie, haven't put much thought into it as of yet. I've had a busy day, but I'll try to think up something now if you don't have any ideas already. . .

Yeah, mine's been busy, too. Hm...what about a different sort of conspiracy?

Oo - what about a charity of some sort that's secretly a money scam? And it's being run by people who also have powers, which is where Rheagar's powers could come in - to help combat them.

Hmm, so like a charity event is being run by a criminal organization that your character is familiar with?

Something like that, yes. We could probably build something around that.

Alright well lets start with that then.

All righty :D Erm...how should our characters meet, come to think of it? The time-honoured bump-into-each-other-in-the-street?

That could be a way. I suppose just through mingling at the charity event?

There were performances, spectacles, booths, and raffles, a well stocked snack bar, and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It was, overall, a very well-done charity event.

As events went, you couldn't beat it: Sunshine Children's Hospital was raising money to update its equipment, and everyone who was anyone had appeared to donate and, more importantly, to see there. Plenty of people who weren't anybody had shown up, too; Gwenlin was one of those people, her monkey on her shoulder, wearing a pair of old jeans and a plain white t-shirt. Meldo, the monkey, was sitting on her shoulder, his tail around her neck, eating a grape he was holding with both hands. Gwenlin herself was drinking fruit punch, and chatting lightly with people. She still had her accent, but her English was perfect.

This sort of thing was routine for him now but admittedly, Rheagar didn't care for social events. His clothes were that of a highborn and naturally he carried himself as such but he was quite humble and exceptionally polite. Walking around the as he exchanged small chat with almost everyone, he felt as though people were starting to gravitate his way. He sipped on his cup of grapple juice (grape and apple mixed lol) and was starting to feel like it was time to get away from the crowd.

Sliding away once he freed himself with the notion that he needed to use the bathroom the mage slipped off to a less populated area.

A robin tweeted from the tree near the edge of the convention. Gwenlin, smiling a little, went over in that direction. She began speaking to it in a low voice in the language she'd learned on the island, not noticing the young man there.

Ray turned to the girl and looked between her and the bird with a curious eye, as he listened to her speak in a language unfamiliar to him.

Gwenlin and the bird exchanged some final words, and Gwenlin laughed. The bird flew lazily away, and it was only then she caught sight of the man there. She smiled, and gave him a wave.

The mage watched the exchange with some interest as he wondered what had just happened. He looked at the woman as she laughed wondering if what he saw was what he thought it was. Caught of guard by her suddenly waving at him, Rheagar waved back with a comical look on his face.

Gwenlin came over. 'Hello,' she said. 'Do you come to these things often?'
