I love creepy themes like that. I love how you use all those random items and combine it to make something awesome. I have tons of items I never end up using because I could never get them work.

I have some items that I probably use too much (panniers & other small layering commons). But starting an avatar for me usually means finding a head item that I've never used and/or one that I don't see a lot of other people use. Sometimes I'm inspired by a non-head item that has a really cool texture or color combo. I shy away from backgrounds for the most part. I feel like they are....garnish. A piece of salad on the side of my plate LOL. But a lot of users like them to make themed avatars.

Cute I haven't been able to do well, unfortunately.

I sometimes try on items I've never used before in attempts to try something new, but in the end they nearly always end up discarded as other, more frequently used, items take over.

I like using backgrounds since it seems to make the avatar look fancier. But sometimes they look better without, so it depends on my outfit at the time~

.___. I don't really have a common theme with my avatars. I don't think there's anything about them that make them stand out as mine.

Your avatars are all pretty unique and stands out, I like that. :) Kind of like, 'this avatar seems like it would be someone I know...oh, yep, it's Dystopia. :D'

@Dystopia: I don't even know how to describe it, but I'd just see an avatar, think it's you, and it turns out that it is you. I've had people tell me that I've got a distinct way of making my outfits too and they'd recognize me from avatar alone. I didn't even realize.
(Though I think it's harder for them to recognize my styles now that I've been in a cosplay craze of late...)

I do like dark and creepy stuff, and elegant stuff, but sometimes it's just so hard to get it right. xD;;
I haven't done anything unique in a while though...mostly just cosplay these days. Not getting much inspiration to do anything else.
