This is a legacy that follows the characters of OnYourGoat: and maidenroseheart. It is up to their imaginations as to the setting, plot, twists, and most importantly who lives. It is our hope that in enjoying this story ourselves, that we provide you as our silent audience a story which you can also enjoy... this journey that will leave a legacy.

Plot!

There is a rumor floating through the small villages, ocean-side cities, and metropolis'. A rumor offering hope to anyone in need of healing. There is a mirror that if looked into will do one of two things. If you are seeking healing or cleansing of even the most impossible malady, then the mirror will grace you with that which you seek. If you are striving for power or are motivate by greed and other such negative emotions, then the mirror was show you the one thing about yourself that is most evil. You will walk away either elated or in terror. It all depends on the character of the person.

This artifact is somewhere in one of the mountain ranges. A mountain's high altitude is graced with the presence of an old temple. Carved into the side of a cliff, this temple is bound by wards and powerful magic that keeps the Mirror of Cleansing inside and cancels all other attempts as magic inside it's boundaries. An order of priests have long guarded this temple from their reclusive monastery setting. Over time, their understanding of their mission became jaded with a jealous protectiveness. No longer filled with the mercy and justice of their fore-bearers, they did the unthinkable and enslaved a creature to protect the mirror.

This was no ordinary creature. A dragon with brilliant gem-like scales and intelligence humanity had forgotten, he was imprisoned in the suffocating space of the temple. No longer free to enjoy the skies, his anger grew so that even the innocent met with a quick death if they entered there.

There being a question, as due to the high death count, the place was left alone and eventually forgotten. The priests become more over protective and cruel. The dragon more bitter and filled with hate. Now it was simply a rumor. A rumor revived by a single girl who studied myths, legends, and lore. Then when the people were ready for her words of wisdom, even she vanished and along with her all clues and knowledge of this hope.

Places

Stanton Hill - A city near the sea where Melody had lived and gone to school. The birthplace of the rumor of hope since Melody was that scholar who had found the clues to the Mirror of Cleansing's location. A medium sized population lives in this place. There is a small port with a sandy beach. The rest of the city is literally on a hill. The city is surrounded by a forest and the rest of ocean blocked by cliffs.

Stanton Hill University - In the city Stanton Hill. Where Melody went to school before her disappearance. Where her "brother" now resides when traveling through on history trips. A large school renowned for it's library. Many races attend there, the most prominent being humans, elves, and faeries.

Stanton's Apartments - In the city of Stanton Hill. A luxurious apartment complex with lush gardens surrounding the area. Is located near the port and has beach access. Where Melody, and now Mel, lives when in town.

Side Characters

Professor Stiff - A Centaur who teaches at Stanton Hill University. Focus is in history and astronomy. Was a mentor of Melody's. Knows of Melody's mermaid background. Brown hair.

Miss Gruff - The landlady of Stanton's Apartments. As her name implies, she is rather blunt and gruff with others. However, despite her tough exterior she is fond of Melody. Large glasses with a constant blur on them cover her face.

Serenity - Melody's best friend who is human. A quiet, shy girl who attends Stanton Hill University. Long blond hair, tall, mini skirt, long-sleeved blouse, and high heels. Is taken with Mel, not realizing it is actually Melody.

MaidenRoseHeart's Main Character

Name: Melody/Mel

Age: 24

Personality: Aggressive. Observant. Introvert. Proud.

Race: hybrid mermaid

Bio: Father was human. Mother was a mermaid. Grew up in the finest schools on land. Spent the summers and vacation time in the sea.

Abilities: Transforms at will between a mermaid and a human as long as she has her birth stone.

Strengths
Strong: She has strong muscles. A good swimmer.
Medium: She has done well in her studies, both at school and in researching mythology.

Weakness
Big: Music. She can't help but go towards music and often will appear as if in a trance.
Small: Alcohol causes almost instant sleepiness.

Current Setting: On her 24 birthday, a sea creature used a magical item on her that resulted in her human form being male. She passes off in the human world as her female's twin to give herself a place in society. Researching a way to someday undo the damage the magical item had caused. Lives in a high class apartment.

Appearance:

Name: -Jadon- Caustus ‘The Nothing Prince’

Age: 35

Personality: Quiet and distrustful. Pliant with those he cares about. He does not give in easily.

Race: Human - Cursed

Bio: Once the princeling of a small holding in some foreign place. He was never happy with the ‘vultures’ of his own class preferring the company of ‘lesser’ folk.

Abilities: Can occasionally control the earth around him but at great cost – lost his arm to this. Is good at minor spell-casting. Is a talented musician.

Strengths
Big: Despite the fact that he’s made of clay he’s very fast. Can rapid-fire a string of word based spells that would topple most people.
Small: Can be charming. Even if his appearance is sometimes off-putting.

Weakness
Big: Cannot swim or be immersed in water for a long time. Physically /very/ weak.
Medium: Often very tired and prone to fainting if he’s over done things. Also, one arm. What do you think?

Current Setting: He had fallen in love with a slave girl – Luana. His father found out about their romance and ordered her raped and killed. Forced to watch, he sold his soul and body for the power to exact vengeance and right the wrongs done. For his troubles he was turned into terracotta, cursed with nightmares and terrors, and cast from his seat in in the ruling class. For about ten years he has wandered, plying the musical trade, looking for some peace.

Prologue

Melody slowly swam through the ocean's cool depths. It had been a long several months since she had been allowed into the open sea. Her slow recovery had been composed of confinement to her sea bed of soft sifted sand and more seaweed treatments than she could count. To be able to move freely in the currents again was such a relief that she could have wept.

She took her time approaching the surface. There was a cove where the Stanton Hill Port was at. The cove was large enough that the commercial traffic and beach goers could enjoy the salty waters without ever noticing her. Which today was a particularly good thing. She was still weak. She had been trembling and weak since the sea creature's attack on her last birthday.

Finally at the lovely age of 24, Melody was all set to start her travels and researching more of the legends that were her passion in life. However, a sea creature so ugly and dark that it could not be looked upon had ruined the garden party among the coral that her parents had been giving her. With a strange flash, some item had incompacitated her. Since then, she had been slowly healing from whatever the device had done to her. They had never caught the criminal, but it was assumed no lasting affects would remain. Somehow the creature had failed in whatever horrid plan it had had.

Reaching the inside of the cove, she made her way to a far end that was out of sight from the rest of the surface world. Humans were incredibly predictable at times. Her two guards checked the surface and the secluded beach. At their beckoning motion, she swam up. There was a path through the woods here to the apartment complex she lived in. She just needed to transform from a mermaid to a human first.

Waiting until she was in waist deep water, she mentally transformed herself and her body followed suit. Possible only because she had her birth stone on her, she slowly felt her breathing change and moved to the surface to accomodate her lungs. Then her scales slowly smoothed into soft flesh. Finally her tail slip into two parts and turned into legs. As the transformation finished, she stood and looked around. Her guards took on looks of surprise and fear. She blinked at them and then looked down. Horror filled her as she beheld herself. She was a human man.
