Jack stared after Ianto, eyes narrowed at the other. He could tell taht Ianto didn't believe him. If this kept up he was going to enduce a coma just to stop the othe from annoying him so much. He was being an insensetive ass but it had to be done and whether Ianto knew it or not it was for his own good. He let the other go and hide like a little coward in teh archieves while he went back up to his office to think. If Ianto wanted to act like a sullen child then that was alright with Jack. He would just have to treat the Welshman like one.
Jack didn't go down to the archieves for the lrest of the night and when ti came time for bed he didn't give it a second's thought, leaving Ianto to do whatever the hell he wanted tonight. He wasn't going to go down and check on him. If he wanted to stay up all night he could but Jack was having nothing to do with it.

Ianto didn't mind that Jack hadn't come check on him. He enjoyed the peace and quiet. It helped him get some work done. When he started to feel tired, he went and got more coffee. Then continued working all through the night.
He stayed down in the archivves all morning. Not coming up to the main Hub once. Evenn after the others arrived. He just wanted to be left alone and this was the only way to do it.

The next morning when Tosh asked about Ianto Jack just shok his head.
"Leave him," he told the young Japanese woman firmly. "He'll exhaust himself before long and when he does we'll strap him to Owen's table and we won't let him up until he learns his lesson. We can't keep holding his hand Tosh. He's a grown man and if he wants to act like an overgrown child then we'll just need to let him."
"But he could hurt himself," Tosh protested.
"He's a grown man," Jack repeated. "We can't do anything about it and he's not allowed to elave teh hub. Besides he's still got that tracker I put on him. If anything changes in his vitals I'll be allerted so if he does colapse we can get to him quickly enough."
Tosh didn't look convinced but went off to work. Gwen was late as usual but Jack was in too bad a mood to confront her about it. He knew if he did he'd end up biting her head off and he'd rather avoid that. He just wasn't in the mood to deal with Gwen.

The more Ianto worked, the more exhausted he got. But, he wouldn't let himself fall asleep. He couldn't deal with the nightmares. They would drive him insane. What he needed to do was keep working. That's the only thing he could do.
He managed to keep going for another hour. Would have been longer, but since he didn't want to deal with anybody, he couldn't get coffee. Which led to him collapsing due to exhaustion onto the ground.

The moment Ianto lost consciousness the small tracking device in Jack's pocket beeped. He pulled it out, frowned at the screen before turing away from the others and striding down to the archieves. Tosh, Owen and Gwen called after him, asking where he was going but he didn't answer. He found the Welshman slumped to teh ground and his features softened as he spotted a few items taht had clearly fallen from the other's grasp when he fell. Crefully he slipped his arms under Ianto and lifted him delicately up before settling him against his chest. He held Ianto close as he made his way back up to the hub. As soon as Tosh and Owen realised that he was carrying their team mate they rushed forward. jack quickly ordered them back before striding towards the medical bay and setting Ianto down on an examination area before turning to Owen.
"Give him something that'll let him have a quiet sleep," he ordered. "I want him to sleep for at least eight hours, maybe a little longer, just as long as he gets some rest. We can deal with him when he gets up."
Owen nodded before hurrying over to a cupboard and pulling out a small syringe. He reached over and pulled up Ianto's right sleeve before giving him a dose of the sedative. That should keep him calm and give him a dreamless sleep until he woke up. He deserved a little rest after the last few days. To be on the safe side Jack reached over shifted Ianto carefully into a more comfortable position before going off and returning with a warm blanket and a pillow. He covered Ianto gently and slipped the pillow under his head. The med bay wasn't the most comfortable place so ti might help Ianto if he woke up feeling a little more comfortable.

Tosh looked up when Jack came out of his office. Like Owen and Gwen she wondered where he was going. But, when she saw him going to the archives, she relaxed, figuring he was going to go check on Ianto.
When Jack came back carrying said Welshman, she was instantly concerned. But she stood back so that the capttain could take him to the med bay. Then she moved into the area to observe what was going on.
"Is Ianto going to be ok?" She asked, after she saw Owen inject him with the sedative.

"He exhausted himself," Jack replied, looking towards Tosh. "He won't eat or sleep and if he keeps this up his body's gonna shut down pretty soon. A human body isn't that strong. As a species we're pretty fragile." Jack didn't mention his own immortality of course but if he didn't have taht he would have died a long time ago in a time far, far away.
"You can sit with him for a while if you like," Jack offered, gesturing toards a chair. "You've finished most of your work anyway and as long as Owen doesn't mind..." The doctor shook his head and Jack took taht to mean taht Tosh could stay. Ianto wouldn't wake up before they left for work and when the three others left Jack would take his turn sitting by Ianto's side until he woke up.

Tosh nodded. She would gladly sit by him. If only for a little while at a time. She did still have work to do, after all. Shee spent the rest of her time in the Hub alternating between sitting with Ianto and doing her work. She was reluctant to leave at the end of the day, but she knew that Jack would keep an eye on the Welshman.

As soon as the others left Jack finished up what he was doing and made his way down to the medical bay. He stared down at Ianto for a moment. He looked so peaceful like this. The lines on his face were smoothed out and he looked.....almost angelic in a way. His lips were slightly parted in sleep and Jack alowed a small smile to cross his face as he looked down at the younger man. He took a seat beside the bed in the rather uncomfortable chair and settled down to wait. If his calculations were right the sedatitve would wear off in about half an hour give or take and he wanted to be here when Iatno first woke up. He'd probably be a big groggy and he'd need to make sure that the other didn't hurt himself. He'd brought with him a few slices of left over pizza from lunch just in case the other was hungry. He hoped he could coax the other to eat, even a little bit. One of the side effects of this sedative was that it would make you very hungry afterwards so hopefully Ianto would have a bite or two. Even a little was better than nothing after all.

Ianto woke about half an hour later, groaning slightly. The first thing he noticed was that his head was pounding and he couldn't help but wince slightly from the pain. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. He noticed he was in the medical bay and was instantly confused. The last thing he remembered was working in the archives. His eyes landed on Jack. "What happened? Why am I in the med bay?" he instantly asked, needing to know what was going on.

"Your body decided it couldn't take anymore and you colapsed in the archieves," Jack replied, keeping his tone gentle. "It's a good thing I came down to check on you otherwise who knows how long you would've been down there before we knew something was wrong. Are you alright? Here, drink this." Jack reached over and grabbed a small glass of water, holding it out to the Welshman. He didn't try to put it to teh other's lips himself because that would proabbly be met with immediate resistance. He would be careful withIanto, try and avoid confrontations so that he could maybe convince the other to take better care of himself.

Ianto was silent, thinking about what Jack. Then it occurred to him about how Jack could have known where he was. The section of the archives he was working in didn't have any CCTV. But, that was a question for another time. "I'm fine." he told him, taking the glass. He drank the water slowly before setting the glass down. "I really should be getting back to work." he stated. And he wasn't going to take no for an answer. Not now. He needed to work so he couldn't think about Lisa's death.

Jack gently pushed Ianto back down, taking the glass away. "Doctors orders that you're to rest for the next few days," Jack replied. "According to Owen you're not fit. Your body nearly went into shock and you're underweight so much that Owen's going to perscribe you some vitimin supliments to try and get you back up to normal levels. Basically you're ill and if you weren't confined to the hub I think I'd be putting you on medical leave." Jack sighed, looking back at Ianto, trying to convey how serious it was. "Tosh was nearly hyusterical when I brought you up from the archieves,2 he murmured. "She's really worried about you Ianto. Won't you try and rest a little for her? If not for yourself then try and take care of yourself for Tosh. You're her best friend here Ianto. Owen pretty much ignores her adn he's a thick ass for not noticing how she feels and Gwen...Gwen doesn't seem to give a damn about anyone but herself so she won't care of Tosh is happy or not." He didn't add that he, personally, wanted Ianto to be well. He figured it was a little too soon after losing Lisa to persue Ianto in a more than friendly manner. If he tried to go too fast too soon he was quite sure that he'd just end up pushing the other away and that was something he didn't want to do. Ianto might frustrate him but that was just a part of who he was.

Ianto was about to argue, but stopped when Jack mentioned Tosh. He didn't want to make her upset. But, he wasn't sure if he could handle just laying around for a few hours, let alone a few days. He'd go crazy if he had to do that. He noticed that Jack didn't say anything about himself, which was typical. It would be easier to do brain surgery than to get Jack to admit his feelings, about anything. "I promise I'll be careful, but I can't just lay around. I just can't. I need to be working." he stated. And he really wasn't going to take no for an answer. He would find a way to get back into the archives to work one way or another. It would be easier though if Jack would just agree with him for once.

"I know you don't like doing nothing," Jack agreed. 2But I'm not risking Owen and Tosh's wrath by letting you do too much so how about a compromise? You can do the basic cleaning in the hub and make the coffee but no work in the archieves. And before you say anything it won't be all you're doing. There's a lot of documents up in my office. it's things that I can't trust the others to do. It has to be precise and I'd hate to think what Gwen would do if I gave her even one sheet. It's not too taxing and it'll give you something to do. How's that? You can work up in my office and that way I can keep an eye on you like Owen asked."
It was a fair compromise in Jack's mind. Ianto would always bewatched by at least one of them but he would still be able to get something done which Jack could tell he really wanted to do. Ianto dreaded having time to think and these forms were tricky. Everything had to be absolutely perfect otherwise the whole thing had to be started again.

Ianto thought about it. He really didn't want to have to work near Jack. But, he could tell that he wouldn't be allowed in the archives. Plus, he didn't want to make Tosh angry or upset, or have Owen need to sedate him. So, he slowly nodded.
"Alright. I suppose that would work." he told him. Though he was surprised Jack was entrusting him to work on these forms if they are so important. He had, after all, just betrayed the team.

Jack allowed a smile to creep onto his face as Ianto agreed. That was good. That was definitely progress. The smile widened into a grin and his eyes lit up as he looked at Ianto.
"Are you hungry?" he asked, holding up the plate of pizza slices. The sedative should ensure that Ianto was at least a little hungry and since he hadn't eaten over the last few days except for a few bites at lunch time yesterday hopefully he'd have one slice at least.

Ianto was about to say no, he wasn't hungry, when he heard his stomach grow loudly. He instantly blushed lightly as he took the plate of pizza. He wasn't going to eat all of it. He knew his stomach wouldn't be able to handle that. But, he did manage to eat a few of the slices.

Jack chuckled lightly as he heard Ianto's stomach growl and was pleased when the Welshman began to eat. It was good to see him actually consuming something other than coffee, even if it was technically unhealthy and he didn't eat very much. It was better than nothing and he was thankful that the other had managed even that. It was most definitely progress.
"Come on then," he sai once the other was finished and clearly wasn't going to eat any more. "There's time for you to do a few hours of the paperwork tonight and then you can start up again in the morning. I moved your camp bed from the archieves to my office. Owen's orders so he can check on you more easily and so I can keep an eye on you when he's not here."

Ianto wanted to complain about that. But he didn't have the energy to start an argument. He just nodded. Just because his bed was now in there, didn't mean that Jack could force him to sleep in there. Plus, if the captain was asleep, he could go work in the archives. That made him feel better. "Alright. Let's get started." He told him, standing.

Jack nodded his head to Ianto before standing and heading towards his office. He made a quick sto by the kitchen and grabbed a small snack for later for himself but there would be enough of Ianto decided he wanted any. He doubted it but at least it would be there if the other wanted it. He also grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge rather than coffee. It was getting late adn he'd rather not have coffee this time of night. Ianto's coffee was amazing and heavenly but he wanted to get some sleep tonight. He could manage without it but he'd rather have a little rest, especially if he was going to deal with Ianto all day.
When they reached his office Jack immediately sat down at his desk and gestured for Ianto to pull up a chair and work near him on the other side of the desk. It was big enough for them both to work. he'd pulled out some of the paperwork and had it stacked on teh end of the table so taht Ianto could begin it whenever he wanted.

Ianto watched Jack make a detour into the kitchen and grab a snack. He then continued to follow him to the captain's office. He knew he might need some coffee in a while. But, he should be fine for a while. He pulled up a chair to Jack's desk and looked at the stack of paperwork. It didn't look like it would take to long to finish. He grabbed the paper on top and began working.

Jack decided against starting a conversation as Ianto began the paperwork. Although it would be another distraction he felt that it was one Ianto wasn't quite ready for so kept silent, working through his own papers. The forms were harder than they looked and it would take Ianto probably about half as much more time than he normally would to complete the files. The silence stretched on for another few hours until Jack looked at the clock and yawned. He hadn't touched the food although he had had a drink of water. He stood from his desk and stretched before turning to teh Welshman.
"I'm gonna turn in," he said. "Don't be up too late." Unseen by Ianto Jack silently activated the locking mechanism on the door so taht Ianto couldn't sneak out back to the archieves. The device was activated by using his fingerprint on a specific point on the desk and no one else could unlock it unless he added their finger print to the register and so far that hadn't happened with anyone on the team.

Ianto didn't notice time going by. He was to focused on the work in front of him. When Jack spoke, he jumped slightly. But, it wasn't noticeable, so he didn't get embarrassed by it. "I won't." he told him. Though he didn't have any intention of even going to sleep.
He waited a while after Jack had gone into his bunker before standing and going over to the door. Time for some coffee and to get some of his actual work done. But, when the door wouldn't open, he got confused. That wasn't supposed to happen. He kept trying to get it open.

Down in his bunker Jack was still awake. He heard Ianto trying the door and smirked to himself. There was no way the other was getting out of the office. He knew that it could be considdered cruel but whether he realised it or not Ianto needed to rest and if he wasn't going to do it himself then Jack would just make sure that he didn't have a choice in the matter.
