"What, with being half-angel? Hell no, it'll take a little more than that to convince me that's what I am." Christine shrugged. "But it's better than any explanation we've got."

"Alright," Tamara replied, nodding. "We'll figure this out once the crisis is over, sound good?"

"Sounds good to me." Christine stretched. "Now, let's head back home and I can start on dinner and we can do a bit more research in case there's anything I missed."

Tamara nodded.

"Sounds good to me," she said.

Christine nodded and led the way back to their house before she started on dinner, humming to herself as she cooked. After all, she wasn't expecting any more trouble that evening.

Tamara settled on the couch with a sigh, and then let one of her sisters take control for a while. Kali stretched a bit and settled in.

"What are you cooking?" she called.

"Lemon herb chicken with jasmine rice and cottage cheese." Christine grinned briefly. "Sound good enough for tonight?"

"Fantastic," Kali replied, grinning. "You always cook the best things."

Christine laughed a little and shook her head, although she didn't stop working on dinner.

"Alright, it's ready," she said a little while later, taking a plate over to the couch for herself.

"Great," Kali said, getting up. She went and put together a plate before sitting back down. She and her sisters took turns eating, rotating between the three of them until the plate was empty.

Christine was used to it by now, so she didn't even pause in her dinner.

She did, however, pause when she heard and felt something in the area, muttering about cozy book shops and payback and really not his fault things fell through last time.

Kali looked over when she noticed Christine pause.

"Everything okay?" she asked.

"There's someone in the area." Christine's eye unfocused. "Getting closer, actually. But I can only hear the one."

"Someone like not-human someone?" Kali asked, alert. "Or someone like higher-than-not-human someone?"

"Someone on my angel radio," Christine replied, distracted. "He's old, too, saying something about remembering this area before people."

"Okay, so higher-than-not-human," Kali said. "Definitely angelic, or otherwise?"

"As far as I can tell, angelic. I don't know if I can hear otherwise." Christine blinked when another voice joined him, this one muttering about holy water and plants and no good wine in the area.

"Now what do you hear?" Kali asked when she saw Christine's expression change.

"Two of them. They're talking." Christine frowned a bit. "They're talking about sushi and wine and fancy restaurants and lack thereof in the States." She blinked, looking a little gobsmacked.

Kali blinked as well.

"Is your radio broken?" she asked finally. "Does it need to be tuned?" Because that just sounded weird.

"I... have no idea." Christine blinked a few times. "Ah, okay, there we go, back to more normal subjects. Sent by higher-ups, blah blah blah, something about a demon, blah blah..." She paused. "And something about a Halfling." She looked at Kali, looking just a little pale.

Kali blinked.

"You don't know it's you," she pointed out. "Pittsburgh isn't exactly a small town."

"True," Christine agreed. "But my mental radar is telling me they're heading this way."

Kali frowned.

"We live in the suburbs," she pointed out. "There's no reason for anyone to be coming out this way..." She looked at her friend. "Do you think it would help if we locked the doors and pretended not to be home?"

"Maybe." Christine got up and went to go check and make sure everything was locked and closed, turning off the upstairs lights as she went.
