"Good idea. Oh, I got everything Harry will need for his distraction, it should all be in the living room." Christine went to go wash her hands before pulling things out of the fridge.

"Great," Tamara said. "Bahiti will probably enjoy it." She waved to her friend, let her youngest sister take over, and Kali took her tea into the living room.

Harry was in the living room looking over what Christine and Cal had brought back. Well, it would definitely work.

"What did they find?" Kali asked, sitting down with her tea. "Anything good?"

"Gunpowder, fireworks, and a wooden bucket. Not quite a barrel, but it will work." Harry grinned briefly. "Good pickings, I'd say."

"Yeah, that sounds like it'll make a big, flashy boom," Kali agreed. She grinned a bit. "My sister will get a kick out of it."

Harry snorted. "Which one?" he asked, looking over at her, mostly just curious.

Kali blinked.

"Right, sorry, I forgot you know I have two sisters for a second. Bahiti, she'd appreciate it."

Harry chuckled. "Well, we'll see soon enough, I suppose." He was quiet for a moment. "Do you know when we're planning on doing this, anyway?"

"As soon as we have a lock on where this demon is, I guess," Kali said. "I don't know the particulars, to be honest."

Harry nodded. "I suppose the sooner we get rid of the demon the better."

"No kidding," Kali said, nodding. She sighed. "I want things to go back to normal. Although I suppose they can't, now that other people know about me and my sisters."

Harry blinked. "Does that make a big difference to you?" he asked quietly. "And does it bother you that people know, or that there's the potential for things to go wrong?"

"It kind of bothers all of us," Kali admitted. "It's scary to think about, that regular humans will find out. We would be taken and dissected in a second if people knew. And it's not just my sisters and I, it's our whole race that would be in danger." She was quiet for a moment. "Could you imagine what would happen if people found out that there was a race out there made entirely of individuals that were three to a body?"

"People would freak out," Harry said dryly. "And there would be dissections and experiments involved, no doubt about that." He sighed. "It would not be good."

"Exactly," Kali said. "We can't let that happen, we can't let it be our fault." She sighed. "We can't let that happen to our mothers, our fathers. Our people."

"Hey, I get that," Harry said, shaking his head a bit. "So you don't have to worry about me."

Kali nodded after a moment.

"I know," she said. "You're like us that way, I think." She grinned a bit. "Our mothers would never believe me if I told them we made friends with a wizard."

Harry snickered. "Is it really so odd to think?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

"Kind of," Kali said, nodding. She paused. "Well, odd in that you're a wizard and odd in that we became friends. It's... not always easy to be friends with one-faces."

"You have Christine," Harry pointed out, blinking. Because clearly he didn't quite understand.

"And it took a long time for us to get comfortable with her," Kali said. "Months. And even then we were still a bit wary about letting her see us shift, or talking to her as a group rather than as individuals." She looked a bit sheepish. "I'm sure you noticed we have a bad habit of talking over each other."

"I've noticed that," Harry said with a little grin. "I guess you didn't do that as much around Christine when you were still getting to know her?"

"Not really," Kali admitted. "It wasn't easy, but it was necessary at the time. We know it can be a bit weird to suddenly hear one of us speaking with a voice that doesn't match the face."

Harry snorted. "Fortunately I excel at weird," he said, grinning briefly. Of course, his brand of weird usually tried to kill him, so this was refreshingly non-violent.
