"And why should we let her go anywhere with you?" Cal asked, raising an eyebrow. It seemed like a phenomenally bad idea to leave with some random stranger, at least to him.

"I've told you, I'm her father." Gabriel let out a sigh. "If you want to come along, Auphling, you may, so long as you put the gun away."

To his credit, Cal didn't even flinch at the label, and kept the gun where it was.

"We've got no proof that you're who you say you are," he said.

"That's because you can't see properly." Gabriel shrugged. "But come with us and you'll see."

Christine frowned a bit. The more he talked, the more familiar he was, but she still couldn't say for certain that she knew him.

Cal glanced at Nik, asking what his brother wanted him to do.

Nik hesitated for a moment before he nodded slightly. Yeah, they should go, just in case. He sheathed his sword but hid it under a long jacket, taking a knife with him as well. Just in case.

Cal nodded as well and lowered his gun. Then he went back to finish dressing.

Christine dawdled long enough for the other two to be ready to go as well, and then she left, Gabriel linking her arm through his and chatting about nothing important while he led the way to a coffee shop. He picked a booth and pulled Christine in next to him, while Nik sat across from them.

"So why didn't you go with Aziraphale? He's a good kid, a little soft, but good." Gabriel raised his eyebrows at Christine.

"Because I'm still not entirely sure I believe him, and this is hardly the place to be discussing such things." Christine gave him a Look.

"Oh, don't worry, the mortals won't hear us." Gabriel shot her a winning smile.

"What, exactly, is going on?" Cal asked, pulling up a chair to the end of the booth. He didn't like that one of them would be blocked in if both he and Nik sat on one side of the booth, so he always grabbed a chair if the other side was occupied.

"Remember the black-haired dick and the blonde-haired Brit that stayed for a few days?" Christine asked. At Niko's nod, she sighed. "According to them, the blonde, Aziraphale, is an angel. I'm guessing he is too." She jerked a thumb at Gabriel.

"I knew you'd be smart." Gabriel grinned cheekily.

Cal just raised an eyebrow. He wasn't going to buy that so easily.

"Yeah, I know." Christine sighed at Cal's look. "I'm with him."

"You need proof?" Gabriel asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Yes."

"Alright. Later. I could prove it here, but that's a few too many minds to influence. It's not good for humans." Gabriel shrugged and looked over when a barista came over to get their orders.

Cal was a bit twitchy all through 'breakfast' and all he really wanted to do was get out of the cafe where he could theoretically be able to shoot Gabriel in the face without bystanders getting in the way.

Gabriel paid for them and meandered his way back to the apartment.

"I could show you my wings," he said once they were back inside.

"Peris have wings," Nik pointed out.

"Peris are angels that left duty in Heaven," Gabriel said, giving Nik a look. "But you won't believe that." He tilted his head to the side. "What will you believe?"

"Not a lot, I can tell you that right now," Cal said flatly, looking at him.

"Naturally, you wouldn't be so infamously stubborn otherwise." Gabriel tilted his head to the side. "What peris are in the area?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Because if we go see one, they'll recognize me."

Cal looked at him for a moment before checking the time. Nope, not even close to when the bar would be opening. Not that he was going to willingly volunteer that information just yet.

Gabriel noticed the motion anyway and smiled.

"Well, it would seem that whoever you know isn't available at the moment. That's alright. I think I'll take Christine on a walk and we can catch up."

"Do I get a say in this?" Christine asked dryly.

"Of course you do, darling. Would you like to?"

"I'd like proof more." She crossed her arms over her chest.

"I'm sure I can find a way to prove it to you." Gabriel raised his eyebrows at her, totally relaxed even with the two hunters there.

"Then you'll have to find a way to prove it to us, too," Cal said. "Because I-- we're not leaving her alone with you."

Gabriel noticed the slip and grinned slowly at that. Aw, how cute. The little Auphling though he had a chance with his daughter. He wasn't sure whether to laugh or discourage that kind of behavior.

"Well then. If you're going to be adamant about it." He tipped his head to the side as he sent out a city-wide mental message to any angels or peri in the area. Christine shivered at that and shook herself, giving him a dirty look when Gabriel snickered at her.

"Shut up, it's not like there are Internet guides on this crap," she muttered.

Gabriel paused and looked briefly shocked. "You haven't tried anything?" he asked, incredulous. "You haven't even played around with your powers?"

Cal had to pause at that one. Powers? That sounded interesting, if nothing else. And very, very explosive.

While Christine stood there grumping and grumbling, Ish had gotten the message and called Cal.

"Explain to me what is going on that has Gabriel in town," he said without preamble as soon as Cal picked up. Because having an archangel in town? Yeah, freaked him out just a bit.

"You're asking me?" Cal retorted. "I'm still trying to figure it out myself." He paused for a minute. "Wait, how did you...?"

"He called." Ish kept his voice dry. "Is he there with you?" Because while he was fairly sure Cal and Nik were the two Gabriel had mentioned, the archangel hadn't been very specific.

Cal decided then that it was just best not to ask right now, because he was pretty sure he wasn't going to like the answers.

"Yeah," he replied.
