Bahiti was uneasy, as well, and stayed alert. It was entirely too quiet for her comfort, and she kept glancing around nervously.

Christine was cautious heading back to the house, but there were no further problems, and she let out a little breath once they were inside again.

"Okay, so things are still getting worse."

Bahiti nodded.

"They are," she agreed. "And we still don't know why."

"Nope." Christine sighed. "Although I'm guessing there's something else behind this virus. I know, it sounds obvious, but we need to narrow down what kind of something is behind it."

"Well, it isn't natural," Bahiti pointed out. "That much is obvious. It reeks of something supernatural causing it. What do we know of that could do such a thing?"

"I suppose magic could, so any magic-user," Christine replied hesitantly. "Other than that, I'm not sure. There are plenty of things that shouldn't be able to do this, though, like vamps and shifters and things."

"So focus on the magic bit," Bahiti said. She looked at Christine. "Unless there's something you're not mentioning?" Because she'd noticed the hesitation, oh yes.

"Nothing that I know for sure," Christine said after a minute. "I can't give you any hard evidence, not even any personal experience."

"But you have some idea," Bahiti pressed. "Come on, spill. Or I'll let Kali give you the eyes until you crack."

"Just... don't look at me like I'm crazy, okay?" Christine swallowed and looked away, visibly nervous. "It could be some sort of... demonic influence?"

"Demonic?" Bahiti asked. "Alright, I'll bite. What do you mean?" Because, really, considering what the world was like, who was to say there was no such thing a demons?

"I don't know, exactly, but there's probably some kind of demon that works in diseases. It makes sense." Christine shrugged, uncomfortable. "It's a possibility, anyway."

Bahiti studied Christine for a moment, inwardly conferring with her sisters.

"Alright," she said. "Tamara wants you to see if you can follow up on that angle. I'll keep looking around the city for anything else."

Christine nodded. "I can do that," she agreed quietly. She had a few books she could try to get information out of, for a start.

Bahiti nodded in return.

"You do that," she said, checking her knives again. "I'm going to head back out." Because she wanted to see if she could find those brothers again. Something had seemed strange about one of them, and she wanted to know what. "One of us will call if something comes up."

"Right." Christine started up the stairs. "I'll call you if I find anything interesting."

"Alright." With that, Bahiti left the house again, going down a few doors on the street until she came to the formerly-empty home that she recalled the brothers taking over.

Niko looked up from one of his books when he heard someone approaching, and he set it down. After a few moments, he realized who it was, and he got up to go open the door.

"Can I help you?" he asked, his voice as even as ever.

"Probably," Bahiti said. "You're the one who talked my sister home from work the other day, yes? My sister Kali?"

"Yes." Niko looked at her. "She mentioned she was one of three. I trust you're all well?" He wasn't just being polite. While he knew the virus was only effecting humans (as far he could tell anyway) he wanted to be sure it hadn't effected the Tryad.

Bahiti kept her best poker face as she felt a stab of panic from Kali. That just cemented the fact that this man at least suspected them, if not outright knew about them. Why else would he use that particular wording?

"My sisters are both just fine," she said once she tamped down the panic. She surreptitiously tugged on one of her sleeves a bit to hide the Tryad symbol branded on her forearm. "Kali asked me to thank you for walking her home, but that isn't why I'm here. I wanted to know if you've noticed anything... strange around since you got to the city. 'Strange' as in 'not normal for any city,'" she added.

"Well, Kali would be able to tell you about that as well as I," Niko replied, watching her. "She was there, after all." He was well aware he was dancing around the question.

"She was, yeah, and she told us about it," Bahiti said, twisting the truth just slightly. Kali hadn't had to tell her and Tamara anything. "I meant anything since then."

"Since then? Nothing new." Niko shrugged. "I also haven't seen more than a dozen people out since then, including you and your friend."

Bahiti nodded a bit.

"Yeah, that's about the same as what we've seen, then," she said. She made a bit of a face. "I was hoping you would have different information than we did."
