"Hey, just making sure." Leila held up her hands, grinning. "Otherwise I'd be very upset."

Carlos grinned.

"I got us a good hotel," he said. "Three rooms, since I figure Kitty likes her own space, and the rooms all have good thick curtains."

Leila nodded. That sounded fair enough.

"Well, that works for me. That way when I get up at noon I won't bother either of you."

Carlos wrinkled his nose.

"Way too early for my taste," he said, grinning a bit. "You early-birds."

Leila snickered and settled in for the flight, leaning back when the plane took off.

"And now for the best part."

"What, takeoff?" Carlos shook his head. "Nope. Landing is the best part, makes you feel weightless."

"But takeoff is fun. It's like the first part of a roller coaster. Although landing is fun too." Leila grinned.

"Landing is best," Carlos replied stubbornly, although he was grinning. "It means the trip is over, anyways, and the fun can start."

Leila snorted and rolled her eyes at him. He was just being silly now.

Carlos just grinned. Leila was amused, mission accomplished.

Katherine, on the other hand, was immersed in a book for the time being. Not needing to sleep meant that she had more time to devote to other things.

Leila shook her head and pulled out her iPod for the rest of the trip, silently offering an earbud to Carlos.

Carlos blinked in surprise, but grinned and accepted it, slipping it into his ear easily. He had no complaints about music; most vampires between a hundred and three hundred or so rarely minded what they listened to, since it was all so new to them to begin with. The older ones were set in the very old styles of music, and the younger ones had no taste.

Leila grinned and turned on her travel playlist, a mix of classic rock, a bit of metal, classical, some country, and some easy listening. Because clearly she had eclectic tastes.

Carlos nodded his approval. Leila had really good taste in music. It overlapped with a lot of what he liked, as well, so that just earned her even more bonus points.

Leila ended up almost dozing off on him, leaning her head on his shoulde and staring out the window.

Carlos let her lean on him, although he did shift her a little so she would be more comfortable.

"Sorry if I'm cold," he murmured to her. "Kinda can't help it."

"Didn't notice," Leila mumbled sleepily. The plane was kept cold anyway, so it didn't bother her.

"Go back to sleep, then," Carlos said. "This flight's a couple hours, you may as well catch up on your rest."

Leila nodded and kept the music on, settling in there and resting against him for the rest of the flight.

The flight was only a couple of hours, and Carlos hurried the girls along through the concourse once they landed.

"This connection is a little tight," he commented as they headed towards their second flight. "Baggage is already being loaded onto our next flight."

Leila nodded, keeping up with the other two fairly easily.

"And then after this one we'll head to the hotel so we can sleep."

"Right," Carlos replied. "We'll bed down for the day, finish the last of the trip tomorrow night. Sound like a plan?"

"Sounds good to me." Leila nodded, hurrying over to the gate. She already knew she'd have to take the middle seat, but she didn't mind.

Katherine followed the two, getting onto the plane last. She was looking forward to the travel being over; she wasn't used to bunny-hop flights. Give her a long trans-atlantic any day. But she didn't say anything, just settling into her seat by the window.

Carlos waited until the girls were seated to sit on the aisle seat. He knew why Leila put herself in the middle. Not that he was complaining.

Leila settled in there, turning on her iPod again. Napping through the flight was better than sitting there bored out of her mind, at least.
