Yeah, big companies are generally pretty terrible. I'm not too keen on buying things from EA, either. (I think EA's customer support is outsourced or something? That's probably why it's so bad.)
On the topic of simulation games, has anyone played the other sim games by Maxis? I think Sim Tower is my favorite. It's a shame that it won't work on 32bit systems or something. I should probably try messing with the display settings to get it to work, but I'm too lazy.

I'm way late but I've been a huge fan of the Sims ever since Sims 1. I am playing TS3 now and loving it. I just can't run the most recent expansions. Seasons and Supernatural. It crashes every time. :/ I'm doing a rainbowacy right now and posting it to my tumblr. It's kinda fun. I just hope I don't tire out like I do every legacy I try to play. x.x

Anymore I just design lots and houses.
While in a neighborhood where I had created several Sims I noticed one of them was being celebrated near the town hall. "That's cute!" I thought "Let's see what this is about!" I let my Sim go over there and cheer her on... aaaand the game bugged out at that moment.
The entire crowd stood their cheering for that Sim until they passed out but then when they had enough rest they would wake up and start cheering her on again. Days passed and they were starving but the park wasn't far away so they would grill something take a bite and then go back to cheering the Sim on. They wouldn't go as far as using the public toilets, however, and the street filled with, well, "water". Everyone had stink lines and they were crying constantly for some reprieve. They were living their little Sim lives in an unending nightmare. All the while the Sim they had been cheering on was giving out autograph after autograph...
So I'm pretty sure I won The Sims 3... but at what cost?

I remember playing The Sims when I was still in elementary school, it was a long time ago, I was addicted to it. It stayed around until my sister who is 6 years younger than me played it enough to remember it and miss it. Then I got around to playing The Sims 2, it was fun but I still prefer playing The Sims 1. I had a lot of fun though playing it, but then our computer broke and my current laptop doesn't have CD-Drive. I played The Sims 3 on my cousin's computer, but my sims looked so ugly no matter how hard I tried to modify it. /sadface
I wanna play The Sims 1 again.

wow... for me, I cann't live without Sims 3 's customization.
I have a hard time looking into Sims 3Dness. Of all, I prefer Sims 3.
I didn't play Sims 1 or 2. But when I know about Sims, Sims 3 was just in development, nearing to launch. So I check out the grahic of Sims 1 and 2 to see whether I like it. Turns out I don't like the older graphics.
I am a 2D person. But still.... Sims 1 and Sims 2's graphic is not appealing to me. maybe they are too real.
My favourite art style are those shiny flashy anime or manga. XD

Simulation games are my favourite! It all began in grade 6 with sims 1 and I just had to get all of the expansion packs. Back then because I was young, achieving things were quite hard like making them superstars or collecting enough coins to buy one of those special houses in Makin' Magic. I used to just make families similar to those I knew in real life and just lived them out until they all died. Then I got a Makin' Magic guide so I finally bought one of those houses and became quite a powerful wizard by making all of the charms, even the Rain of Riches one and it hardly ever backfired! I then found a Superstar maker on the sims 1 website (which is sadly non-existant now r.i.p) which you could customise a superstar and play them in game. So basically you could skip the crap and just be a celebrity without doing any work.
But before that in grade 8 Sims 2 came out. I even wrote the release date in my school diary. The amount of times I've loaded and taken it off my computer is phenomenal. I can almost remember the special code off by heart. I have almost all of the expansion packs. I think all I'm missing is two stuff packs and latenight. It's hard to decide which I like more. Sims 1 or Sims 2. I love them for different respects each.
I only got sims 3 late last year due to a sale at my local games store because up until then it was quite expensive. I don't like it much because it's just become too complex and you have too many options to change things it becomes an inconvenience and I find that sim faces are hard to customise because they all just look pudgy. It hasn't stopped me from buying Superstar. I bought it in the hopes of being similar to Sims 1 Superstar but oh was I wrong. It's even harder and really annoying as you just go back and forth a lot.
I wonder if Sims 4 is in the future?

Sim Ant was the best Maxis simulation game and nothing anybody else says is going to change my mind...!
Haha, but I've been playing the Sims 3 on and off lately. I'm not really enjoying it like I used to. When my Sims end up with big families it's impossible to do anything except worry about bloody... Sim Social Services, or whoever those clowns are, and when I use testingcheatsenabled to make their needs static, I get bored because it's not challenging enough. xD

Yeah, you control a black ant and the goal is to drive out the red ants and, later, the human inhabitants of a house. It was awesome. xD
I haven't actually downloaded any mods for the Sims 3. Maybe I will. I used them for the Sims 2 and most of them were awesomely useful.

I do agree the game play sounds interesting, I am just really... graphic dependant.
What kind of mod you have for Sims 2? items or gameplay?

I've only played the original Sims for PC, and it was fun, but I'd love to try one of the newer ones as they likely have better graphics and more neat features. o3o

Oh, wow, The Sims 2. I miss my old neighborhood from before my laptop crashed.
Of course, I tended to be rather evil. I will say this -- Sim toddlers are nigh-immortal.
Anyway. I have ALL of TS2, and I have it installed, but I don't play it too much -- probably because the computer I'm currently using is quite old, so space is at a premium. I can't wait until I get a new PC, though -- I want to have space like whoa so I can install a whole bunch of objects and whatnot.

I google it with my spec, and many of them said my nVidia is more than enough to run Sims. D:

Boy oh boy, I've been playing Maxis games my whole life. I started out with Sim City 2000 (still one of my favorite games ever), and in middle school I had an affair with Sim Tower.
I fell in love with The Sims 1 immediately. I remember I got it for Christmas one year, maybe when I was 12, and then played it endlessly for days afterwards, while eating peanut brittle that I'd also gotten. The Sims 1 will forever taste like peanut brittle to me.
The Sims 2 was my jam for most of high school, and I remember feeling reluctant to get 3 when it came out. One of my favorite parts of Sims 2 was being able to switch houses in the neighborhood and control everyone, so that I could orchestrate specific relationships and stories. With 3, however, the neighborhood runs in real time around your household, which has a lot of benefits (like not having to load a new lot when you go downtown), but it puts a stick in that style of gameplay.
I only have Sims 3 installed right now, since those games are such space hogs, but I miss Sims 2. Perhaps someday when I have more hard drive space, I will get that up and running again.
Oh, and modding. I am all about installing custom content. I think I have spent more time searching for, downloading, installing, and trouble shooting CC than actually playing The Sims (any of the versions). I've mellowed out on this a little recently, and feel satisfied enough with the content I have to just play, but I know that someday I'm going to get that itch again... haha.

@xuvrette: Yeah, I like building houses sometimes. Mostly I play a family and remodel their house as we go along.
I recently built a community garden for my sims where they can go to harvest all the different kinds of vegetables and things, regardless of their gardening skill. :D
