Stephanie walked out of the building and briskly headed for the parking lot. Work today had been tiring. She liked her job, but this wasn't what she had imagined when she had signed the contract. Climbing into her car, she pulled out and headed downtown. A trip to the mall was just the thing. A little bit of shopping would do her a lot of good. Unfortunately the whole city seemed to have the same idea. Traffic was congested. Why she didn't take a chance with public transportation was beyond her.

Lyle sauntered out of his apartment building and up to the bus stop. For the past few days or so he had been big on public transportation - though it was not so much of a choice considering his mate had gone off and borrowed his car. Though there was no point of dwelling in the past and he made due with what he could. Standing at the bus stop was not his ideal time consuming activity though. It also tended to become awkward when strangers attempted to strike up conversation, it was not so much he was a shy guy. It was just that he never knew exactly what to say to them, and what to ask a stranger about to continue a conversation.

As the bus pulled up to his stop, he strolled don in and into his usual spot. No one ever sat there because it was underneath the air conditioning and it tended to be way too cold or way too hot in that spot. Though he never minded those extremes and as such took that single spot unto himself. It was fun to think he was doing everyone else a favor, though in reality he appreciated always having a place to sit.

After a while the bus slowed down and most of the passengers had filed off. Lyle had not payed much attention to the stops, but he knew by the amount of people and the commotion - that the mall was where he had gone. Stepping off casually and onto the sidewalk he slid his hands into his pockets and made his way for the main entrance. He had a few things to buy today and the mall seemed most fitting - some electronics, games, books and a couple pairs of jeans a few shirts and maybe some new shoes. As he let his mind wander he thought he should have made a list, in an attempt to limit his careless spending. It was always hard to stop himself form buying something once he saw and wanted it. Today seemed a day that his wallet and bank account alike would thoroughly regret.

Driving around the parking lot, she groaned and mentally beat herself up for just not going home. What was she doing shopping after work. That was when everyone else and their mother shopped. Finally finding a parking space, she pulled in and put it into park. Turning off her car, she paused for a moment to relish the peace she found in here, when she wasn't battling traffic and humanity in general. Getting out, she picked up her purse and locked the door. Heading towards the entrance door she was parked nearest to, she began planning. A new outfit for work. That would require blouse, jacket, skirt, and heels. Maybe she would look into some sort of scarf or something to go with it as well.

Entering inside, she looked around. Just as crowded inside as outside. Go figure. Making her way towards her favorite store, she paused at a kiosk. Peanut butter shake. Ice cream with no substance to digest with it wasn't healthy but... she deserved a treat. Buying one, she felt a little better as she slowly spooned it up. She had it finished as she reached the store she had had in mind. It was a designer store with several good styles so that there was a good chance you would like the place. She went to the corner that had brought her luck more times than once. Yep, this would do just fine. She began browsing, picking up possibilities as she went.

Finally having a few choices, she smiled and made her way to the dressing room. Outside thunder rolled across the sky. Strange, she didn't remember there being any storms in the forecast. She glanced back out into the main area of the shop from the entry way of the changing room as more thunder crashed outside. For just a moment, it seemed like the mirrors of this store had flashed a little. Must be the lights flickering from some sort of power surge. She turned and headed into the changing room area. Getting a tag for the amount of clothes she had, she chose a stall and went into. Putting everything up on a hook and setting her purse and keys on the stand, she turned to the mirror and began to undress.
