Elaine nodded.

"Yeah," she said. She glanced back at Tony. "I'll test the new settings later and let you know how they work," she said to him.

Tony flapped a hand at her. "Go have fun," he said. "And don't blow anything up!"

"Right, right," Elaine said. With that, she left the workshop and closed the door.

Strange smiled faintly at her. "Where will you be most comfortable?"

Elaine shrugged slightly.

"The living room of the common floor?" she suggested.

Strange nodded and motioned for her to lead the way. He had a few ideas for how to make this work, but he was hoping the easy way would work. It almost never did, but he could hope.

Elaine led him up two floors to the common area and gestured to the couches. Luckily, Clint wasn't there playing video games.

"Claudia, let me know if anyone comes this way," she said.

"Of course," the AI replied.

Kae, however, was in the kitchen, and she poked her head out to look at the two of them before she grinned and waved, spatula in hand.

Strange blinked before he nodded to her and settled himself on a couch, looking at Elaine and waiting for her to sit before he started.

"We'll try this way first," he said. "Close your eyes and keep your mind open. If you can, try focusing on anything abnormal. Alright?"

"Would it help if I turned off my implants?" Elaine asked. "Technically, I'm blind, Tony made a set of implants for me so I can see."

Strange blinked. Ah, so that was what Tony had been doing. "It might," he agreed. "Try it."

Elaine nodded and switched her implants off.

"Alright, they're off," she said. Carefully, she settled on the couch, one hand always touching the upholstery.

Strange nodded and pulled on some power, gently pushing it in her direction. This was the first test.

Elaine's eyebrows furrowed a bit, but she otherwise didn't react. She felt... something, but she wasn't sure what it was, and it didn't made her uncomfortable.

Strange pushed a little harder, trying to get a reaction out of her so at least he'd know if she felt it.

If not, he was going to have to get creative.

Elaine definitely felt it now, but she wasn't sure how to put it into words.

"Define 'abnormal'," she finally said.

"A sort of pressure," Strange said, keeping his attention on her. "Is that right?"

"That's it exactly," Elaine replied, nodding. "Kind of like a pressure in my head, but all over at the same time."

"Good. And this?" Strange twisted the magic, pushing it past her rather than at her.

"Like a breeze rushing past," Elaine said. "I can almost hear it."

"Very good." Strange stopped and leaned back. "You can feel it. That's a good sign."

"It is?" Elaine asked. She considered that for a moment. "Huh, I guess what they say is true, about when you lose one of your senses."

"Indeed." Strange studied her for a few moments. "The next step is a little harder. You have to be able to feel it all the time to be able to call on magic, let alone control it. This... may take a few days."

"How do you feel it all the time?" Elaine asked. "I mean, I noticed when you were doing something with it, but is there something in particular I should do on my own?"

"Now that you know how it feels, search for it," Strange advised. "There is magic everywhere, but it is stronger in some spots than other. The Tower is not a good place to practice; Tony has had a little too much influence in the building. Try a park."

Elaine nodded.

"Alright," she said. She could do that.
