Kae nodded. "Got it. I can work with that." She parked and unlocked the door, leaving it open for Elaine for the moment. "Dinner first?" she called back. "Or just alcohol?"

"Dinner," Elaine replied as she followed Kae inside and closed the door behind her. "I'm not planning on getting that drunk. What do we have?"

"Chicken, some leftovers, I think we have some frozen fish I can defrost and cook." Kae shrugged. "Some pre-made frozen dinners, things like that."

"Fried chicken sounds good," Elaine said hopefully. "And I can at least help a little that way, I can cut chicken."

"Alrighty," Kae said, getting everything out. "You work on getting the chicken cut, I'm going to go put my shoe and purse away."

"Right," Elaine said, making her way into the kitchen. She slowly and methodically got out everything she would need to prep the chicken, and worked just as slowly and methodically once she started the actual prepping. Better for her to work carefully and get it right than try to work quickly and lose four of her fingers.

Kae did that, and then came back down to work on everything else and get things ready for when the chicken was done being prepped. She didn't mind taking her time either. It gave her a chance to think.

Once the chicken was prepped, Elaine washed her hands and sat down to wait for Kae to finish working.

Kae cooked quietly, setting plates on the table once she was done.

"There. Dinner's ready."

"Alright," Elaine said, moving to get some dinner. "I didn't mutilate the chicken too badly, did I?"

"Nope, it's good. Nice sized pieces." Kae grinned at her. "You did fine, Elaine. Really."

"Just making sure," Elaine replied as she took a few pieces of fried chicken. "It's kind of impossible for me to make them perfect."

Kae snorted. "You know I don't care about perfect. Hell, when I do this I do a more slapdash job than you do, by far. My pieces come out looking a lot less even."

"I use my knuckles to measure," Elaine admitted. "It makes it easier." Taking a bite of the fried chicken, she grinned. "And it tastes amazing."

Kae smiled, pleased. "Good. I'm glad." She settled in for a bit, eating quietly with the TV on. Then she got up to go mix alcohol for the two.

"How strong do you want right now?"

"Just enough for a buzz," Elaine replied. "Not enough to have much of a hangover tomorrow."

"Got it." Kae mixed the drinks appropriately, putting them on the table. "Alright. Drinking game, or just find something relaxing to listen to?"

"Something relaxing," Elaine voted. She didn't want to have to pay attention to a drinking game, not after the day they'd had at work.

"That's what I thought." Kae switched to an all-music channel, keeping the volume high enough that they could hear it without it being overly intrusive or too loud.

Thankfully, the week passed without further incident. Nobody else made the mistake of giving Thor coffee (or at least coffee with caffeine in it) and, curiously, Tony didn't show up again for the rest of the week. Steve did, Thor and Loki did, and even Bruce and Clint showed up on Friday, but no Tony.

Elaine thought it was a little strange, really.

Tony finally showed up again on Saturday, although not at the library. He showed up at the girls' house with Steve in tow, a large package under one arm. He knocked loudly, waiting impatiently.

Kae blinked, looking over at Elaine. "Are you expecting a package or anything?" she asked, getting up slowly.

"Not that I know of," Elaine replied. "Here, let me get it, you don't need to bother with your crutch." Getting up, she went over to the door and listened for a moment before opening it. "Can I help you?" she asked. She used it as a standard question all the time, since it forced the other person to speak.

Steve couldn't help but blink and turn slightly red when he saw Elaine and realized she had opened in the door in a pair of little shorts and a tiny-strapped tank that displayed her bra straps.

"I assume Kae's here, since your car is here." Tony didn't bother with an actual greeting, because he was Tony Stark and didn't need such things as greetings. "May I come in? I've got the Cap with me too."

Kae heard Tony's voice even from the living room and got up, grabbing her crutches and going to go investigate.

"How did you even find us?" Elaine asked after a moment of stunned silence. Then she remembered her manners and stepped aside. "Yeah, come on in."

Steve followed Tony, glancing around habitually as they walked into the house. It was a nice place, really, and more normal than Steve had expected. He wasn't sure what he'd expected, really, but it was still more normal.

"Dipped into SHIELD's database," Tony said easily, moving into the house and glancing around. He spotted Kae and nodded to her. "They have your adress on file."

"So, what, you hacked into their system just to find out where we live?" Kae blinked, flabbergasted.

"Pretty much. And Fury's going to be pissed when he finds out."
