They weren't waiting long. Spider-Man made his way up the side of the building until he was about level with them, and just looked for a moment. It was kind of surreal, really; Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers waiting for him, of all people.

"So I hear you need an extra pair of hands," he commented once he managed to shake off his awe.

"Something like that," Steve agreed with a little smile. "Why don't you come inside, we can talk things over?"

"Inside?" Spidey asked. "Like, inside Avengers Tower? There are, like, a million and one nerds out there whose only dream is get into this tower, and you're just inviting me in?" He grinned, even though they couldn't see it through his mask. "I gotta admit, that's kind of awesome in all the right ways."

Steve chuckled. "Well, if you're going to be helping us out, you may as well come say hi to the rest of the team," he reasoned, going to open the door and usher the other two inside.

Spidey paused for a minute just to make sure the entire situation was, in fact, real (because he was sure he'd had this dream before), he climbed down from the wall and cautiously followed them inside.

Steve led the way to the living room, where the rest of the team plus Kae and Elaine were.

"Everyone, meet Spider-Man. Officially, anyway. He'll be helping out from time to time for a little while."

Tony rolled his eyes at how careful Steve was being. "Here meaning he'll be covering you guys while I'm stuck here figuring shit out."

Spidey couldn't help but blink behind the mask.

"You weren't kidding when you said meet the whole team," he commented.

Steve grinned again briefly. "We were all in the area," he said, moving over to stand behind Elaine, one hand resting on her shoulder.

"Yeah, I bet," Spidey replied. He pointed at the girls. "Do I know you two?"

"Yeah, we were the two hostages that time the Avengers took out Goblin for you." Kae grinned wryly. "Nice to see you again, and much better circumstances this time too."

"Right, I remember," Spidey said. "Gobby was playing his little games again. So..." He looked around at the group. "Since when do the Avengers need someone like me to be an extra set of hands? Aren't I a little small-time compared to you?"

"Since I'm currently grounded," Tony spoke up, sounding a little pouty. "For a little while, anyway. Besides, you seem to have been doing well enough for yourself, even if your outfit could use a little work..."

"Hey, for making it myself, the suit is a miracle," Spidey retorted good-naturedly. "And I was more focused on the web-shooters, anyway. And anyways, what could possibly ground Iron Man?"

"A new project," Elaine jumped in quickly, glancing at Tony. "It kind of needs his full attention and he can't be interrupted too often."

Tony just grinned. "Time-sensitive stuff that SHIELD will get on my ass for if I don't finish on time." He paused. "Not that that's ever stopped me before, but this is kind of important." And technically every word he spoke was true.

"I see," Spidey said. "So... Does that mean I have to hang out around here too? Because that would be totally awesome, but I do have some other obligations and stuff."

"Nah, you're free to come and go as you please," Tony said with a shrug. "You're in the system now, so you won't have a problem getting in."

"Awesome," Spidey replied. He paused for a second. "I don't need to take off the mask or anything, right?"

"No," Steve said before anyone else could answer. "You don't have to."

Spidey couldn't help it, he relaxed slightly.

"Cool," he said. "So, uh... I'm going to go because I kinda left my girlfriend behind, but I'll definitely keep track of things on my end."

Tony snickered. "Better make it up to her or she'll be pissed at you for weeks," he said, grinning.

"Yeah, no kidding," Spidey said. "So I'm gone." He waved at them. "Later!" With that, he was out the door and off the balcony, swinging back down towards the city.

"Cute kid," Tony said, grinning. "A little younger than I'd expected, but I like him. He's got sass."

"And now there's someone to fill in while you're working things out," Elaine pointed out, leaning back against Steve a bit.

"Yeah, yeah." Tony shrugged. "Could be useful to have him around."

Elaine nodded and tucked herself a bit closer to Steve.

"What do you think?" she asked him softly.
