Kae nodded once and let Tony take her up again, trying to focus this time on how the repulsors worked and how it felt.

This time when Tony dropped her she managed to slow her fall, her "mental repulsors" stuttering a few times before giving out, and then she landed on the ground with a muffled groan.

Bruce went over quickly and helped her up.

"Are you alright?" he asked. "You almost had it."

"Ow. Grass is hard." Kae sighed. "I was closer this time, though."

"You're getting better," Bruce agreed. "You almost had it. Maybe try from the ground, this time? Whatever you were doing this last time, it seemed to work."

"It helps to think of the repulsors," Kae said quietly. "I think. It's still hard though."

"Try," Bruce encouraged.

Kae nodded and stepped away from him after a few moments, trying to go up this time. She got a few inches up before she fell again. She kept practicing, and over the next hour she got almost a foot up before she gave up, sitting on the ground and putting her head down on her knees, shaking a bit.

Bruce knelt down next to her, one hand on her shoulder.

"Deep breaths," he said. "Remember what we did most recently for relaxation exercises."

"You mean there was a part besides leaning on you?" Kae joked, leaning closer to him. But she did keep her eyes closed, breathing slowly and deeply.

"Just focus on calming down for now," Bruce said. He stayed next to her until she was calm.

Kae calmed down after a few minutes and leaned against his side. "No more today," she said, closing her eyes again. "No more." Her nerves were shot after trying to deliberately leave the ground and having been dropped a few times.

Bruce nodded.

"Alright," he said. He helped her to her feet. "No more."

Kae relaxed a little at that. At least she wouldn't have to worry about that today.

Tony grinned briefly, having long since put the suit away again to tutor her. "Tomorrow we'll work more. You're getting there, you just need to trust yourself enough to get more than a foot off the ground."

Gently, Bruce put his arms around Kae.

"Come on," he said. "You need to just relax for a little while."

Kae nodded, relaxing slowly. Then she smiled wryly.

"Well, at least I only had a small audience for that humiliation."

Bruce gave her a wry grin.

"Have I ever told you about some of my Hulk-outs?" he asked. "One of the more recent ones ended with me buck naked in the ruins of a building with a janitor waking me up to offer me a pair of pants."

Kae snickered. "That sounds like fun," she said. "Tony needs to make you ultra stretch-pants or something."

"He claims he's working on it," Bruce said dryly. "I haven't seen any results yet."

"I heard that!" Tony said from above them. "I am working on it, Bruce, I'll drag you into this when we get back."

Kae couldn't help but snort at that, glad for the normalcy of it all.

Bruce chuckled a bit and headed inside with Kae.

Kae was quiet as they went back into the mansion for the moment. It was a little noisier now, since classes were out, and there were a lot more people around. But Kae didn't mind, just keeping a grip on Bruce.

Bruce let her cling as they walked. He tried to ignore the stares they were getting.

"What now?" he asked her quietly. "Do you still want to stay, or do you want to go back home to think things over?"

"I think stay for a few minutes, just to get an idea, and then head back home," Kae said. "As long as you'll be fine."

Bruce nodded. The Hulk was fairly quiet, for the moment, so all was well.

Kae stayed for nearly half an hour observing before she finally let them head back to the Tower. And then partially because there had been more than one person goggling over Tony Stark.

She did settle in close to Bruce for the drive back though.
