Bruce raised an eyebrow in return when he came out of the labs to find Steve with Elaine sprawled across his lap on the living room couch.

"Dinner in about an hour," he said, tactfully not commenting.

Steve nodded and grinned a little, simply resettling Elaine and staying there. He was comfortable, and he knew Bruce wouldn't tease. Much.

For the moment, Bruce wouldn't tease them. Steve at least tried to be respectful of everyone else, after all. But he made no promises if he caught them again.

Steve sat up again after a bit, before the others could start filtering in and find him and Elaine like that. Mostly because he didn't want to endure more teasing. But he did give Elaine another quick kiss.

Elaine returned the kiss just as quickly before settling herself on the arm of the couch again.

Tony did come up for dinner, mostly because he knew he'd be dragged up if he didn't go voluntarily. He didn't end up eating much, though.

Elaine noticed that Tony didn't eat much, and made sure to push a pastry at him afterwards. She'd noticed that he had a soft spot for Kae's pastries.

Tony hesitated before he took the pastry, munching on it quietly. Now to wait and see when Kae would call.

She ended up calling about an hour later, having managed to escape to her room for some quiet time.

Elaine picked up on the first ring.

"So, how's Wonderland?" she asked, grinning a bit. "FYI, Tony's probably listening in with his funky new tech-brain."

"That's fine, I figured he'd either listen in or have Jarvis tap into the conversation," Kae said, sinking onto her bed with a blissful groan. "It has been crazy and wonderful and hysterical and I kind of love it here."

"That bad, huh?" Elaine asked, settling across a chair. "Well, spill, what was day zero like?"

"I'm teaching a history class, which is great, and helping out with an English class." Kae grinned. "The kids are great. They're smart and they don't tease each other much and they asked a bunch of questions about me, so today's lesson wasn't so much a lesson as grill the new gal, but it was still fun. I cooked dinner for everyone had got two professions of undying love and gratitude and apparently the equivalent of from one of the other teachers." She snickered. "I'm making croissants tomorrow."

"The first day and they already get croissants?" Elaine asked. "How is that fair? I had to wait a month."

Kae laughed quietly. "I was also a lot less confident when I met you," she pointed out. "But seriously, I need to introduce you to these kids in a few weeks after I've really settled in here. They've all been amazing so far."

"Kae, you know I wouldn't fit in with them there," Elaine protested. She was quiet for a second. "Steve said he'd be interested in a visit, though. He's heard good things about the place."

"You can both come visit," Kae said. "Just visit, like an afternoon. In a few weeks, though, that'll give things time to settle down and give me time to make sure they're really okay with all this. For all I know Xavier told them to be nice to me."

Elaine snorted.

"Kae, really? A horde of superpowered teenagers? You're not going to find a more emotionally-honest group ever. They like you."

"Probably," Kae allowed. "Either way, things have definitely been entertaining so far." She stretched a bit. "And I'm exhausted. The horde of superpowered teenagers, as you called them, have inexhaustible energy."

"You sound exhausted," Elaine said. "Wish I could give you a shoulder massage the way you like, I bet it would help right about now."

"I'm sure it would. I'll hold you to that when I get back Wednesday night." Kae smiled a bit. "Say hi to everyone for me."

"I will," Elaine promised. She grinned a bit. "Although I bet Bruce wouldn't mind a personal call of his own."

"I'll call him once I'm off with you," Kae said, grinning briefly. "Although he's probably glad to be missing all the chaos."

"I dunno, give Tony another day or so to really acclimate again and I'm betting things will start getting explodey again," Elaine said. She snickered. "I could also help with that, but I'm not really sure how well Tony and magic really mix anymore."

Kae snorted. "I'm pretty sure Tony dislikes magic of just about all kinds. You're probably the only exception to that."

"Yeah, but magic and technology tend to not mix well," Elaine pointed out. "Well. Let me rephrase. Magic and normal technology. I have no idea what exposure to magic might to do him."
