"I don't think so. But, hey, Bruce is an attractive guy, and it's not like all we do is sleep at night." Kae was sure to keep her voice down, just in case. "I'm pretty sure not. It's probably just the season and the stress and all."

"I know what you mean, Steve and I are the same way," Elaine said. She was quiet for a moment. "You're probably right thinking it's the stress and everything. But keep me posted, alright? Just in case."

"I will." Kae smiled a bit and finished up with the potatoes, leaving them to cook. "Well, I think I'm done in here for the moment, and I think tomorrow or tonight after dinner the group of us are heading back to the hotel to exchange gifts. You should come, I know there are some with your name on them."

"Yeah, Steve said there were," Elaine said. She smiled a bit. "I gave him his gift already, though."

Kae nodded. "Yeah, I saw him playing around with the tablet earlier." She grinned.

Elaine grinned, nodding.

"Yeah," she said. "I think he honestly does like it."

"He's still scribbling away at it," Kae said with a grin. "I'd say he likes it."

"I made sure the buttons and controls were fairly simple," Elaine said. "Not 'how-to-for-dummies' simple, but normal-simple." She grinned. "But the art software is top-of-the-line, courtesy of Tony."

"Probably over top-of-the-line, knowing Tony," Kae said with a grin. "But I bet Steve will get lots of entertainment out of it."

"I hope so," Elaine said. "I'm hoping to get him a little more comfortable with technology. Maybe this'll help."

"Good plan." Kae smiled. "It'll be fun, if nothing else."

"Right," Elaine said, nodding.

Dinner was a noisy affair, but a lot of fun, and the Avengers group headed back to the hotel to open their presents after some of the kids had trailed off to bed.

This time, Elaine went back to the hotel with them, rather than staying with the Clan. At least at the hotel, Steve had his own room, so they wouldn't keep being bothered by the little kids all night.

Everyone exchanged gifts in Tony's suite (because, yes, he had a full suite he was sharing with Pepper) before retreating to their own rooms to sleep.

Steve shut the door and smiled a bit at Elaine. "I did get you something else," he admitted, grabbing a bag and handing it over to her, already blushing faintly. Because, yes, he'd braved Frederick's to get her a few things.

Elaine blinked and took the bag, looking inside.

"Oh Steve," she said, smiling a bit. "You went into Frederick's for these? I can't imagine what those sales girls must have tried to talk you into." Leaning over, she gave him a kiss. "I think I'm going to go try these on."

Steve grinned briefly. "I think what they tried to talk me into would have made both of us blush," he said, kissing her again quickly. "I talked them down."

"I think I would have liked to see that," Elaine said, grinning. "Although I would also have liked to have been there to beat them away from you with a stick, so it's probably a good thing I wasn't."

Steve laughed. "I only had to tell them twice I was looking for things for my girlfriend and then they stopped. Apparently I got the nice ones."

"Or the smart ones," Elaine agreed. She grinned. "Now. Let me just go change..." She flitted into the adjacent bathroom to try on the new garments. She had to admit, Steve had a good eye; they fit perfectly.

Steve knew they would fit because he'd borrowed some things of hers to get sizes. Clearly he'd been planning this for a while.

He did stop and look at her when she came out of the bathroom. Okay, yeah, he was very, very glad he'd braved the store now.

"What do you think?" Elaine asked when she came back out. She turned around once for him, slowly.

"I think I should go thank those ladies," Steve murmured, unable to take his eyes off her. "And I think I might need to go back for your birthday. Or something."

Elaine smiled and kissed him.

"Valentine's Day is the next major holiday," she reminded him. There was a sudden rumble of thunder outside and she grinned. "And that would be Thor somewhere in the hotel having fun with Jane."

"At least we're not the only ones." Steve grinned and pulled her into his lap so he could properly show her how much he liked the new things.
