"I don't even know if it's possible," Elaine pointed out. "I just figure if anyone can make it work, you can."

"I'll see what I can do." Tony kept grumbling, even as he started trying to figure out this little puzzle.

Elaine nodded, letting him ponder it for a while. It was true that she wanted to see if he could make that filter for her vision, but she also knew it would keep him busy for a while. Win-win.

Tony dropped down next to Kae to type on a pad for a while. Kae rolled her eyes at him but turned on the TV for background noise.

Thankfully, the next couple of months were pretty quiet around the Tower. No major attacks, no super-secret undercover missions, no uncontained explosions of any sort. Just calm. At least, right up until Elaine noticed something a bit off about herself.

She ended up kind of wanting to punch Loki for being so damn right.

Loki knew, of course, because he could just tell these things. But he grinned and didn't say anything, instead watching with some interest as Tony has basically an entire hospital room set up in the Tower for Kae.

"Really, Tony?" Kae asked as she looked at the room. "Bruce, this is ridiculous and over the top, I can go to a normal hospital."

"We're just taking precautions," Bruce said gently. "Just in case. I don't expect a lot of this to be needed, but it's good to have it around just in case it is. And would you really want to deal with the media circus that would erupt if someone caught wind of Tony being in a hospital while a woman connected to him is having a baby?" All valid points, really. He carefully didn't mention that he completely agreed with having a fully-equipped medical facility ready for her.

Kae sighed. Those were all valid points, but she still knew that he agreed with what Tony had done.

"Fine," she grumbled. "Because you won't let me go anyway and I can't bribe Happy." She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted, though. Because she thought it was all entirely unnecessary.

Bruce gently gathered her into his arms.

"It's more for our peace of mind," he soothed. "This way, there's less that can go wrong."

Kae sighed. She knew it too, but she still felt it was excessive.

"Fortunately we only have a few more days," she said quietly.

Bruce made a small, vague sound of agreement. Inwardly, he was nervous. He wasn't sure he'd be a good father, but he'd have no choice but to find out soon.

Kae could feel that and gave him a sardonic little look before she sighed.

"Go make some tea, please, I have to go pee again."

Bruce quirked a bit of a grin, gave her a quick kiss, and headed into the kitchen to make the tea she wanted. He knew better than to disobey an order like that from his woman.

Kae made her way up to the kitchen once she was done, grimacing and keeping one arm around her midsection.

Bruce turned when she came into the kitchen, and was immediately concerned.

"Kae?" he asked going over to help her sit down.

"I'm okay," she said, grimacing again briefly and stopping for a second. "Just having some mild contractions, no big deal."

"Contractions?" Bruce repeated. He briefly considered allowing himself to panic, and then shook it off. "When did they start?"

"Just a minute ago in the bathroom." Kae shrugged. "It's not panic time yet. But you might want to call my doctor."

"I like to think I have experience in not panicking," Bruce said with a slight grin. "Try to relax. I'll go make the call."

Kae just nodded, sitting on the couch carefully to wait. She didn't want to walk around more than she had to, and it made her feel better to sit and wait for the doctor rather than pacing.

Bruce came back in a few minutes later.

"The doctor will be here soon," he said, sitting down next to her. "Although I'd only give Tony maybe two more minutes before he's up here fussing at you."

"We need Clint to hold him off. He keeps saying he wants to reenact parts of Lord of the Rings, he can reenact those on Tony." Because Kae did not want to be fussed at anymore.

Bruce snorted.

"So that's why he suddenly has a fresh supply of nerf darts," he said. "I was wondering."

"Yeah. He keeps muttering things about boarding down stairs on a shield. I don't know what he's planning but it's going to be hysterical." Kae grinned, and then winced at another contraction.

"We can warn Steve to keep a closer eye on his shield, then," Bruce said. He saw her wince. "Still alright?"
