"Hurts a little more than I thought it would," Kae said lightly. "I'm alright."

But she gave Bruce a pleading look when Tony emerged from the elevator.

Bruce looked over when he heard the elevator open and gave Tony a Look that clearly said to turn around and go back down to the workshop.

Tony hesitated for a few moments. He wanted to go check on Kae, but Bruce was giving him this Look that he'd become increasingly familiar with over the past few months. So he settled for going into the kitchen instead.

That was good enough, and Bruce settled back with Kae again.

Tony meandered over with his coffee as the doctor arrived, and Kae obediently held still for the woman to be inspected.

The doctor did a cursory check, and then held out a hand to help Kae to her feet.

"Walking around some will help," she said. "It'll dull the pain a bit, and it'll help the baby come a bit faster. We should get you upstairs soon, though, so I can see how far you've gotten."

Kae nodded, walking around a bit. "Well, we may as well head up there, and you two can make more tea." She gave both males a very pointed look. Tony knew better than to argue and held his hands up in a placating motion.

Bruce just stayed in the kitchen with Tony for a few minutes while the doctor took Kae upstairs.

Tony was fidgety the entire time they were in the kitchen, making more coffee although he didn't touch it. Instead he headed up when he got the okay.

Kae was walking around when they got up there, although she'd changed into something more appropriate.

Bruce headed up as well, following Tony.

"How are you holding up?" he asked Kae when they got there.

"Alright so far." Kae smiled a bit. "But this is just the beginning. This could last anywhere from a few hours to another day and a half or so."

"You'll do wonderfully, I'm sure," Bruce said. He gave her a quick kiss.

Kae let him, returning it, before another mild contraction had her back to walking around the room carefully under the supervision of her doctor.

Once the contractions started getting worse, the doctor shooed everyone else out of the room, promising to let everyone know the instant something actually happened.

By the time things did start happening the whole team (plus Loki) knew what was going on and so they were all hanging out in the living room waiting for information.

And Kae was busy strangling a pillow.

Elaine was settled in next to Steve, tucked against his side. Bruce, on the other hand, wasn't quite pacing. But it was a near thing.

It was several hours more before the doctor had any further news, and then she just came to get Bruce, keeping everyone else out in the living room.

A while later, the doctor came back out, smiling faintly.

"A little girl," she said. "Kae and the child are both fine."

Tony got up to go see for himself. Hey, he was the cousin, and it was his tower, he could do what he wanted.

Steve smiled and hugged Elaine a little tighter. A healthy little girl. That was good. "I bet she'll be spoiled," he muttered to Elaine.

"That's an understatement if I've ever heard one," Elaine replied, smiling a bit and snuggling closer. She could wait until the others had gone to see the baby before she got up.

Steve just settled in there with her to wait. Hey, he didn't mind.

Kae snorted quietly when she saw Tony hovering over Bruce, since Bruce was holding the little girl. They could fuss over her for a bit before Kae wanted to hold her daughter.

Bruce was looking down at the newborn in awe. The baby blinked up at him with brown eyes much like his own, and then she yawned widely.

Tony almost 'awww'ed. Almost. "Looks like she got your eyes," he said quietly. "And Kae's skin." But he didn't touch the little one.

"She's perfect," Bruce said quietly. He glanced at Tony. "Do you want to hold her?" He glanced at Kae for permission.

Kae nodded, leaning back a bit more in bed and closing her eyes. Hey, it had taken a while and she was tired.

Tony took the little one carefully, looking down at her with something close to awe. Not that he'd ever admit it, though.
