Back in the living room, Elaine was getting a bit fidgety now. Clint and Natasha weren't making any move to go see the new baby, and Thor still looked mildly uncomfortable at being so close to such a fragile being. So Elaine got up and made her way in to the room, slipping in quietly.

Tony still had hold of the little girl, though he did look over at Elaine.

"Little girl," he told her, resettling her in his arms.

"We heard," Elaine replied softly, grinning a bit. "We were all in the room for the announcement." Quietly, she went over to see how Kae was doing, letting Tony hold the baby a while longer. It seemed to be good for him.

Kae opened her eyes again and smiled a bit at Elaine. "Hey," she said quietly, patting the bed next to her in silent invitation.

"Hey," Elaine replied softly, grinning a bit. She sat down. "Feeling alright?"

"Very tired and vaguely sore. Otherwise, fantastic." Kae grinned. "I'm surprised I haven't been inundated yet."

"I don't think they want to deal with Tony and Bruce yet," Elaine said. "I just decided to be brave and come see myself."

Kae laughed quietly. "How much you want to bet Coulson will show up tomorrow with a gift basket or something?" she asked, grinning.

"I'm not taking that bet," Elaine replied, grinning a bit. She glanced at Tony and the baby, and then back at Kae. "So what's her name?"

"Dunno yet. We haven't decided." Kae smiled a bit. "I like Rose, though."

"Rose Banner, or Rose King?" Elaine asked. "Both sound good. It's a pretty name."

"We haven't discussed that yet either." Kae shrugged. "Either way, we'll see what Bruce thinks a little later, once we've had a chance to talk."

Elaine nodded. After a moment, she glanced at Tony and the baby again. "May I...?"

"Go ahead." Kae smiled a bit. "If you can get her away from Tony."

Tony looked at Kae and then at Elaine and then let Elaine take the little girl.

Elaine took the newborn gently, holding her close and looking at her.

"She's beautiful," she murmured softly to Kae. Before she could stop herself, she tried to picture what her own little one would look like, when once she was finally able to hold him or her. It was only eight months away, even if she (because Loki didn't count) was the only one who knew yet.

Kae smiled indulgently and yawned, settling into the pillows. In Elaine's arms, the newborn yawned again, settling down.

Elaine held the baby for a few more minutes, and then handed the little one back to Bruce. Then she slipped back out into the main room.

Kae settled in to go to sleep for the night, exhausted.

Steve looked over at Elaine with a little smile. "Glad you got to see them?" he asked, holding his arms open for her.

"Yeah," Elaine said, snuggling into his arms. "The baby is beautiful. Kae's thinking about naming her Rose." She hesitated for a moment, and then nudged him. "Come with me into the kitchen for a moment?"

"Sure." Steve blinked but got up and followed her into the kitchen, lowering his voice. "What's going on?"

Elaine was quiet for a moment.

"I was kind of hoping to find a better moment to tell you this, since I really don't want to steal Kae's spotlight today, but I figure it's best not to let it wait." She hesitated slightly and looked at him. "Steve, I'm pregnant."

Steve blinked, kind of blindsided by that. It took him a few moments to respond.

"You're... really? Now?" He blinked again. "Are you... okay with that?"

Elaine nodded.

"Really," she confirmed. "My birth control failed. I didn't want to announce it to everyone yet, especially since Kae just had her baby, but you have the right to know." She bit her lip slightly. "Are you alright with it?"

"I..." Steve grinned slowly as the idea rolled around in his mind. "Yeah. I'm fine with it. I'm more than fine with it." He reached over and hugged her.

Elaine smiled and snuggled close to him.

"You're going to be a dad," she said softly, resting her head on his shoulder.
