Elaine paused as well.

"Is there... more than one?" she asked, eyes a bit wide.

"Sounds like you're going to have twins," the doctor confirmed.

Steve just looked gobsmacked.

Elaine was speechless for a moment.

"Twins," she said in wonder. She looked at Steve and squeezed his hand a bit.

Steve grinned, careful not to squeeze her hand too hard. This was unexpected but not unpleasant.

"I want to blame Thor for it," Elaine said, "but I think it's equally our fault." Leaning up, she gave him a kiss. "Two kids." She grinned. "Tony's going to have fun teasing us about that."

Steve just laughed quietly and shook his head, kissing her forehead.

"So will Kae. Those two will never let us live it down."

Getting up, Elaine cleaned the ultrasound gel off and pulled her shirt down, rubbing her stomach a little. She looked at Steve and smiled

"Come on," she said. "I want to let everyone know about the little ones."

Steve nodded and helped her up, keeping hold of her hand. "Well then, let's go tell them."

Elaine nodded and went with him. The first one they came across was Kae in the kitchen.

"Hey," she said to her friend, sitting down at the counter.

"Hey." Kae smiled a bit, making her tea before going to sit. "How're you doing?"

Elaine smiled.

"Had my first ultrasound today," she said. "Just got back."

"So how did it go?" Kae smiled. She remembered how excited she had been.

Elaine smiled more.

"I'm having twins," she said, touching her belly gently. "We heard their heartbeats, it was amazing."

"Twins?" Kae's smile widened. "That's great!" She walked over and hugged her, grinning. "I'm so happy for you both."

Elaine returned the hug, grinning widely.

"Thanks," she said. "We're going to have our hands full soon."

"Sooner than you know," Kae said with a grin. "You'll have to tell me when they start kicking."

"I'm not even showing yet," Elaine protested. She grinned. "But I promise you'll know when they start kicking."

Kae just grinned and paused when she heard/felt Rose wake up. "I have to go tend my little one," she said, putting her tea cup down.

Elaine nodded and let her go. Getting up, she pinned the small ultrasound picture she got, where the two developing babies were circled, to the fridge. Everyone would see it there.

Steve grinned at that, though he didn't protest. It was easier that way, plus he didn't mind. He was very proud of his unborn children, after all.

Once the picture was up, Elaine went and snuggled into his arms.

"Come on," she said. "We can leave that there for everyone else."

Steve nodded and pulled her closer, though he was still careful about how tight he held her. "So what do you want to do for the rest of the day?"

"Well, you can do what you like," Elaine said, snuggling close. "I have magic practice this afternoon."

Steve chuckled quietly and nodded, kissing her forehead.

"I'm sure Loki will be interested to hear," he said quietly. Because yes he knew very well that Loki took an interest in her life.

"I'm sure," Elaine said, leaning up to give him a kiss. "Sure you don't want to sit in on the lesson?"
