Elaine knocked on the doorframe.

"Mind if I sit and watch?" she asked.

Tony waved her in, not looking up from the lines of code he was examining.

"Got bored or just coming in to check on my progress?"

"Take your pick," Elaine said. She sat down. "I just finished magic practice for today, and Clint is trying to snipe people with paintballs."

Tony snorted. "Sounds like him," he agreed. "This filter is the most infuriating thing, I hope you know."

Elaine grinned.

"I know you'll get it," she said. "Have you been out of the workshop at all today?"

"Yes," Tony said indignantly. "I went to see Kae and Bruce and Rose. And I got coffee."

"Did you see the thing I put on the fridge?" Elaine asked, grinning a bit.

"I haven't yet, haven't been up there for a while." Tony shrugged. "Why, what is it?"

Elaine grinned a bit more.

"Print out from my ultrasound earlier," she said. "I'm having twins."

"Twins?" Tony looked back at her before he snorted. "Really? You're going to have twins?" He shook his head. "Go figure Cap would have twins."

"Really," Elaine said. "I have photographic evidence." She grinned. "Two little ones. Likely two little ones capable of magic, if I keep practicing through my pregnancy."

Tony made a face at that. "Well, at least they'll fit right in among the other freaks here," he said with a little grin.

"No kidding," Elaine said. She looked at him. "You sure you're okay with two more kids in the tower? I know it's a lot all at once."

"So far, yes," Tony said. "We'll see how things go." Because at some point he probably would freak out about having three small children in his precious tower.

"Just speak up if you change your mind, alright?" Elaine said. "I'm sure we can find another place if you'd rather there not be kids in the tower."

"We'll see how it goes with Kae's little one," Tony said. "Although I'm sure you two will at some point want your own place. I think I saw Bruce looking up some places a little while back."

"I'm sure we will, too," Elaine said. "No offense, but this isn't exactly an apartment building, and a family of four could use an actual house."

Tony snorted. "It was never designed to be an apartment building, not really." He shrugged. "I didn't even expect to have the rest of the team here until after... well. After."

"I'll talk to Steve about it," Elaine said. She was quiet for a moment. "He'll miss it here, though. I know he will."

"It's not like you'll move out and be forever banned," Tony said with a shrug. "I'm sure you two and your children will come plague us regularly." He grinned.

"This is true," Elaine said. "This is very true." She grinned. "I'm sure they'll always be wanting to show their Uncle Tony some new magic trick they learned."

Tony let out a long-suffering sigh but didn't actually protest. He knew better by now.

Besides, he didn't really mind all that much.

Elaine just grinned a bit and rolled her eyes. She knew he didn't mind.

"So how's the filter coming?" she asked, settling in and changing the subject.

"Slowly," Tony grumbled. "Strange only has half an idea how to make it work, so I'm doing most of it based on trial and error."

"Wouldn't it just be a variant on heat-sensitive filters?" Elaine asked. "It's just another form of energy. Or is it not quite that simple?"
