"I got whammied?" Elaine asked, frowning slightly. "But I don't feel any different..." She trailed off, trying to take stock of what she was feeling.

"That's what Clint said. I trust what he says." Steve frowned, looking around again. "I can't tell who they are, though. Maybe Thor will find them."

"I can't tell if anything's different," Elaine said. "I've never--" She cut herself off there, about to say 'I've never been in love before.' "I don't know if I'll be able to pick out if anything changes."

Thor was indeed looking for Venus and Cupid. Clint had told him where the arrow had come from that hit Elaine, and Thor was already making his way there to see what he could find. And he was getting close, he could tell.

Steve nodded slowly. "Maybe it takes time?" he asked. "Or maybe you can't notice the effects yet?" He wasn't sure how all this worked, after all.

Venus was still cooing over the picture the two of them made, although Cupid was quickly getting bored again, fingering the pendant his bow became when he wasn't using it. Neither of them noticed the Norse god approaching.

"I don't know," Elaine said. "If I notice anything, though, I'll speak up."

Finally, Thor was sure he'd found the ones he was looking for.

"Ah! I've found you!" he said cheerfully, going over to them. He was sure these were the right ones. "There has been quite a bit of searching for you both!"

"Good." Steve kept an eye out, still not sure what exactly was going on.

Cupid and Venus both looked over at him. "Has there?" Cupid asked blithely with a wicked little smile.

"Indeed," Thor replied. "I understand the pair of you have been... busy with the humans here. Might I ask why?"

Venus shrugged. "It's what we do," she said. "People may have forgotten about us, but that doesn't mean we can't still do our jobs." She grinned at him. "Besides, humans are just so fun!"

"Humans are amusing," Thor admitted. "However, your efforts have become... noticeable. Suspicions are beginning to arise."

"And?" Venus shrugged, uncaring. "What of it? We are only doing what is our right. We aren't hurting anyone."

"Humans are getting hurt because of it, though," Thor pointed out. "Harming themselves and others because of your fun." Clearly, he wasn't getting his point across to them. He really wasn't much of a diplomat.

"Oh." Venus frowned a little. "Hmm. Well, I suppose that could be problematic. I suppose we'll have to move again."

"Damn. I rather like it here." Cupid frowned a little.

"The same problem would eventually arise even in a new place," Thor said. He fairly confident in that assessment; humans weren't THAT different from one another.

Venus shrugged. "What do you expect us to do, then? Simply wander around and not do anything?" She scoffed.

"Or return home," Thor said. "Humans are not meant to be playthings, they are far too fragile."

"Home is boring," Venus scoffed. "The others are having some pissing contest or another, and we got sick of it. Besides, you're here, are you not? Hardly in a position to be throwing stones about staying away from humans."

"I'm not meddling in their affairs," Thor pointed out. There was a world of difference between visiting and taking an active hand in things.

Venus heaved a put-upon sigh. "So you wish us to either return home or remain here but leave the humans alone?"

"Ideally," Thor replied. He glanced around. "I don't suppose you have any idea how many humans you've meddled with so far today?"

"Today? Only five, maybe six." Venus shrugged. "Why? Curious?" She grinned at him.

"Perhaps," Thor replied. He nodded down to Steve. "A good friend of mine."

"Ah." Venus smiled. "He's been stubborn. I noticed him right away. He likes that girl sitting next to him. Cupid shot her, since it would be easier to nudge her in the right direction. I'm sure he'll fall in line soon enough."

"He can be stubborn," Thor muttered. "Although he has been protective of her of late."

"I'm not surprised." Venus smiled smugly. "It will make victory all the sweeter when he gives in to the inevitable."

"Victory?" Thor asked. He was all for victories, if they were fairly won. But this didn't seem like that.
