Kae blinked. Oh, this had so much entertainment potential. But she didn't think Fury would see it that way, so instead she asked, "Thor's back with a friend? I'm assuming it's not one of the group, since you have to 'handle' it."

"I wouldn't necessarily call him a 'friend,'" Fury replied, choosing his words carefully.

"What, then?" Steve pressed. Now he wanted to know, just in case.

"If it becomes an issue, then I'll let you know," Fury replied, raising an eyebrow at Steve.

Kae just shrugged. She wasn't worried, and she figured it wasn't really any of her business.

"Was there anything else you needed, Mr. Fury?" she asked. "Or may we go call a cab now so we don't have to put up with Mr. Stark's driving again?"

"Stark, if you would be so kind as to escort these ladies to Human Resources and Personnel, I would like to get on with my day," Fury said, glancing at Tony. "Try to stay out of trouble when you do."

It took a lot of willpower for Elaine to keep from snickering.

Tony sighed but nodded. "Alright. Follow me, you two. And watch your step." He led them over to the building and then waited, giving them a few seconds to get inside and adjust before leading the way down a hall.

"Looks like you two are being added to the payroll, ladies."

"I hope you see the irony of that phrase," Elaine commented as she swept her cane around briefly. It hit a raised step, and she made sure not to trip.

Steve glanced at Fury but, receiving no orders to the contrary, turned and went with Tony to escort the girls into SHIELD.

Fury, on the other hand, watched them go inside, and then turned to go take care of the minor issue that cropped up while he had been busy. Time to see exactly why Thor felt the need to bring Loki back to Midgard.

Tony didn't comment, just led them down to where they needed to be.

"Alright, here we are. Follow the instructions and the world won't blow up from Fury's rage. He's so bossy."

Kae just snorted and looked at the two people waiting to get their fingerprints and such.

Elaine just barely managed to hold herself back from retorting that Tony needed 'bossy' once in a while to keep him in check. No sense in pissing off Tony Stark.

Kae could practically see the snarky thought and grinned, tempted to tease Elaine. But she didn't, instead letting the nice workers take her fingerprints, height, weight, hair and eye color, skin tone, and other such things.

Although she wasn't sure why they needed to be so thorough.

Elaine went through the same things as they took down every last bit of her information. She was surprised at how much information they needed from her, up to and including basic body measurements.

"This is bizarre," she murmured to Kae.

"No kidding," Kae muttered back. "Kind of probing." And it was. Really, they didn't do anything besides help the guys when they needed to find some information.

Then again, she got the feeling that Fury never did anything by halves.

Once the information was taken down, Elaine turned to leave with Kae.

"One moment, ladies," one of the HR people said. Elaine automatically paused and waited to see if anyone came over to her. Instead, however, the employee handed an envelope to Kae. "Director Fury wanted this given to you, Miss King," he said. "He believes you might find its contents enlightening."

Kae's eyebrows shot up but after a moment she nodded. "Alright. Thank you." She looked at the envelope before tucking it in her purse. She'd look at it later sometime. "Now may we go back to the library?"

"We can take you back, if that's what you want," Steve spoke up. He understood the desire not to be idle.

"It's probably not a bad idea," Elaine said. "Besides, if we're here, who will oversee the mythology research?" She grinned a bit, teasingly.

"So long as he doesn't drive, that sounds like a plan to me." Kae swung her crutch at Tony, who scowled briefly before he shrugged.

"I refuse to get in the car if he gets into the driver's seat," Elaine agreed. She didn't threaten him with her cane, however; Kae had done it for her. She'd heard the rattle of Kae's crutch.

"I can drive," Steve offered.

"You haven't driven a car for over fifty years," Tony reminded him. "I'll be in the passenger's seat. That won't be a problem, will it?" Because he couldn't resist snarking.

"Actually, Tony, I have," Steve replied easily as he took the keys. He glanced at his friend. "While you were off showboating in Japan for something or other."

Elaine snickered just the slightest bit.

"Not one of my cars," Tony replied. "And that motorcycle of yours doesn't count; you can slide off a cliff and recover from that." He didn't try to take his keys back, though. "Besides, motorcycles haven't changed much in the time you've been stuck as a Cap-cicle."

"More like seventy years," Kae said, just loudly enough for the two arguing men to hear as she made sure Elaine didn't get stuck or anything.

"Just get in the car, Tony," Steve replied as he opened the car door for the girls. Frozen for seventy years or not, manners didn't change much, either.

Elaine let Kae help her into the car, and collapsed her cane just small enough to lay it across her lap. Hopefully, Steve was a better driver than Tony.

Kae got in next to Elaine, shifting her crutches so they'd fit more easily, and then she held on to the door. She wasn't going to trust Steve's driving just yet. Not until she knew he was better than Tony.

Tony just got in the car, sprawling in his seat. Hey, it was his car, he could get comfy if he wanted to.

Once everyone was seated and strapped in, Steve turned the car on and started to head back towards the girls' library. Drivers weren't quite as cautious nowadays as he remembered them being before, but the basic idea was the same and driving lays hadn't changed too drastically. And he didn't try to drift around corners like Tony did.

Kae relaxed once she realized Steve was a much better driver than Tony, leaning back in her seat. Okay, this was fine. This she could deal with. He was still a little less cautious than her, but she figured she was allowed to be extra cautious.

When they got back to the library, she opened her door and got out cautiously, stretching a little before settling back on her crutches. "Alright, we made it back in one piece. I vote Mr. Rogers drives from now on."

"Motion seconded and passed," Elaine agreed as she extended her cane and got out of the car.

Steve got out of the car, as well, and handed Tony back his keys. No sense in keeping them when he could tolerate Tony's driving on his own.

"Did you hear that? I got outvoted by a couple of librarians," Tony grumbled, taking his keys back. "Do you believe this?"

"You better believe it, unless you want me to start driving when we have these field trips." Kae grinned briefly.
