"Nobody said you had to do it," BJ pointed out. "And that's what makes it amazing." He let go of Steve's hand. "Now, I don't know how my niece knows you, and I'm not going to ask. But you said you're taking her back home?"

"Yes, sir." Steve looked at him for a moment before he glanced at Elaine. "We have some business back in the city, and I'd like to see her safely home."

BJ nodded.

"She couldn't be any safer, I don't think," he said.

"Really, I'm right here," Elaine muttered, thoroughly embarrassed now.

Steve smiled at that. "It was a pleasure to meet you, sir," he said quietly. "Where's your bag, Elaine?"

"Guest room," Elaine replied. "Down the hall, first door on the left." She tugged on his sleeve again. "Come on, we'll give my uncle time to decide which comic he wants you to sign before we manage to escape." She grinned a bit.

Steve managed a faintly nervous chuckle but followed her to the guest room.

"Are your things packed? I'll carry the bag." Because he still had to figure out how to get everything on the bike in a manageable way.

Elaine was already thinking about how to get her bag onto the bike.

"If it'll make you feel better," she said, "go ask my uncle for some bungee cords from the garage to hold my bag on your bike, and offer the autograph in trade."

Steve nodded after a moment. "Alright. I'll be back in just a minute, then."

It ended up taking him two or three minutes to get the bungee cables, but then he was back and only a little flustered from the attention.

"Ready to go?"

"Ready," Elaine replied, zipping up her bag and making sure her cane was collapsed and in her purse. She grinned a bit. "It was the vintage first issue, wasn't it?" she asked.

"Yeah." Steve rubbed the back of his neck. He took her bag for her. "So your whole family knows about the old reels? Really?"

"I told you, Grandpap loved the series they made," Elaine replied. "And my dad and my uncles all grew up with them. Things weren't as crazy-fanatical by the time my cousins and my brother and I were old enough to watch them, but we all saw at least some." She grinned a bit. "If only to figure out just who this Captain America guy was that our dads were fans of."

Steve sighed. "Your uncle showed remarkable restraint, then," he said after a moment. "I have to admit I hope I never meet your full family at the same time."

"The Clan all gets together for the holidays," Elaine replied with a bit of a grin. "Alternating Christmas and Thanksgiving. This year, it's Thanksgiving. I usually bring Kae, but I think this year she wants to torment Tony some."

"Whatever she has in mind isn't nearly enough," Steve said, leading her back over to his bike and quickly working to secure her bag to the bike. "I'm assuming since she normally goes with you that she does not have her own family to visit?"

"Don't underestimate her," Elaine said. "And she has a few distant cousins on the opposite side from Tony, but that's it."

Steve nodded slowly. "I've been informed that we're having a Christmas party this year," he said, glancing back at her as he settled on the bike and helped her settle in behind him. "Perhaps you two would like to come as well?"

Elaine grinned a bit.

"I think it would be fun," she replied as she settled on the bike and wrapped her arms around him.

"Good. I'll tell Tony to expect two more, then." Steve grinned briefly and started driving.

It took them only a few hours to get back to her house, and he helped her off first before he got off and grabbed her bag.

"We're back at your house."

"Thanks for the ride," Elaine said as she accepted the help. "I appreciate it." She paused. "That, and I appreciate you tolerating my family."

Steve smiled a little. "They're not bad in comparison to some people," he said quietly. "Do you want to settle in first, or should I see if I can contact Thor?"

"You may not have to," Elaine said. "I talked to Kae yesterday, she said Thor was hanging around keeping her company."

Steve nodded, about to reply when the front door opened.

"Hey guys. Looks like you didn't have any problems." Kae grinned. "Thor's still here, but he's dressed, so that shouldn't be a problem. But I can shoo him out if you want me to."

Elaine couldn't help but snicker a bit.

"I like how you have to specify that he's dressed," she teased her friend.

Kae snickered, not at all put off, and moved aside so they could enter. "Come on, you might as well come in. You too, Cap."

Steve almost groaned when he noticed she'd picked up her cousin's annoying habit of calling him names.

Elaine went inside, still grinning, and automatically left her purse and shoes by the door. She stretched and sighed a bit. It was good to be home, even if it did kind of smell like ozone a bit.
