Bruce caught the laser pointer and raised an eyebrow at Tony.
Elaine squeaked a bit when she was pulled down to the couch, but quickly snuggled into Steve's side and relaxed.

"It's a key," Tony said helpfully. "Peps decided she wanted a greenhouse, saying something about the amount of food we go through, so you have a zen garden set aside for you. The building's just down the block, I'll show you later." Tony shrugged. "Have fun making it how you want."
"I'll give you your gift later," Steve said quietly, keeping an arm around her.

"A zen garden?" Bruce wasn't entirely sure whether that was a dig or a genuine bout of thoughtfullness. He decided to bank on the latter. "Thanks."
"Why later?" Elaine asked.

Tony grinned at him. "No problem. I want to go see when you've finished arranging things."
"There's something I want to show you, and it's kind of part of your gift." Steve smiled a little, embarrassed.

"Fair enough," Elaine said softly. She rested her head on his shoulder and got comfortable. "You look just like how I remember," she said quietly to him. "I never got the chance to say so earlier."

Steve chuckled quietly, keeping close to her. "I haven't changed at all," he said quietly, looking at the others as they exchanged presents. "Not since the serum."

Steve managed a snort and shook his head, pulling her closer. At least until Tony caught his attention, pushing a large box over to him, a much smaller box balanced on top of it.
"What?" Steve blinked.
"For you, Cap." Tony grinned and turned his attention to Natasha.
Steve blinked before opening the boxes. The small box had an iPod, which he put to the side. He could fiddle with it later and figure out exactly what it was. But the big box had an old turntable and multiple records, most of them from the forties. Steve froze, taken completely by surprise.

Elaine was intrigued when Steve unwrapped the big box.
"A record player," she said. "An old record player." Reaching into the box, she pulled out some of the records and looked at the sleeves. She grinned. Now she understood. Putting them back, she reached for the iPod.
"This has all of the same things on it," she said to Steve as she sifted through the songs. "Tony must have converted them from vinyl to digital."

"Okay," Steve said to the last bit. Yeah, that meant almost nothing to him. He was more interested in the record player and the records. Those he already knew how to use, could listen to now.
"Hey Cap, how 'bout a bit of music?" Tony shot him a grin. Steve smiled, nodding to the billionaire, and took less than a minute to have the record player set up and playing one of his favorite records.

Elaine smiled at how pleased Steve was, and settled back on the couch to watch him set up the record player. The music was, predictably, old-school, but she could see how happy it made him.

Steve moved back over to her and relaxed back against the couch, closing his eyes. Everyone else might complain about it, but he knew this music, and he liked it. So he was perfectly happy with it.

"Very old-school," Elaine teased him as she settled against his side. "And still very appropriate."

Steve shrugged. "It's still good music," he pointed out. "Although it is a little less scratchy than I recall."
"Better record player," Tony replied without looking up from one of his presents. "And those records are kind of restored."
Steve smiled again, very pleased.

"I'm thinking this Christmas turned out alright," Elaine said. She glanced around when she heard some snickering, and found Coulson, of all people, standing behind the couch with a sprig of mistletoe.

Steve blinked and looked up as well, looking at Coulson, who just raised an eyebrow.
"It's traditional," Coulson said seriously.
Steve sighed, although he had to hide a smile, and he looked at Elaine, tilting his head to the side a little. "Well? What do you think?"

Steve smiled and kissed her again, pulling her closer and ignoring Tony's wolf-whistle. He was just being an ass to be an ass.
Then he pulled back a little and smiled at Elaine. Coulson looked far too pleased with himself, but Steve didn't actually protest.

Elaine kissed him one more time, just because she could, and then reached down and threw a ball of wrapping paper at Tony without looking. She didn't need to be able to see him to hit him.

Tony just snickered and threw it at Kae, who was still blushing a little as Coulson moved to put the mistletoe somewhere else.
"Agent Coulson, are you planning on staying for dinner?" Kae asked, partially to keep Tony from commenting on her blush.
Coulson was quiet for a moment. "I don't have any plans," he offered cautiously.
"You're staying for dinner, Agent Coulson."
"Yes, miss King, I'd be glad to."

"I feel the need to give you warning, Son of Coul," Thor said seriously. "My brother has been confined to Midgard for the remainder of his punishment, and must stay close to be looked after." A little uncomfortably, he added, "he is in residence at the moment."

Later that night, after dinner (which Coulson was immensely glad he'd stayed for), Steve pulled Elaine off to the side, having already fetched shoes and a jacket for her.
"Ready to go?" he asked quietly.

After everyone was finished at the table, Thor put together one more plate, and took it down to his brother's room.
"Brother?" he called through the door.
