So I've been following the Olympics religiously this past week. It's the only time that I ever get to see my own sport televised (rowing!) and I really enjoy the competitive nature of all the programming. I have several friends in Poland that have struck up a little rivalry, not to mention all my Jamaican buds around here, so it's a fun way for all of us to get together and poke fun at one another.

Apparently, the Olympics is also a time for all of us to fall madly, deeply in love.

I don't know why, but this year there just seem to be so many amazing, witty and very attractive competitors. I can barely turn on my tv without fanning myself.

I mean, look at these people:

Philipp Boy - German gymnast

Giorgio Avola - Italian fencer

Pierre Yves Beny - French gymnastics

And since I'm all for equal-opportunity oggling,
Samantha Wright - American gymnast and weight lifter

...No shame.

Wowie, that italian fencer is something else.
The German swim team didn't look too shabby either, but I didn't get that great a look.
We both should have watched the riding, Knerd (why didn't I make an effort? it's one of the few things I could actually get into) I heard the rain had the tendency to make the jodphurs fairly transparent...

I enjoy watching sports, so i love watching the Games and seeing the athletes compete to their full potential and seeing the sportsmanship on display (although some don't seem to adhere to that...)
But i love watching the Games, my favourite is Equestrian (Eventing), just the most beautiful sight, if you ever get a chance to see it, it's quite amazing and i love horses too

I just finished watching the 10,000 meter race. Geez! It's tough to believe that people can compete in a sport like that. The last few laps were surprisingly exciting - UK's Mo Farah got gold and the US got silver. They were neck and neck for a while with the Nigerian team, so I'm just proud that they both pulled ahead so far.

I just watched that! I'm so proud of our team this year! Before I watched this olympics I was really lazy and didn't care much for sport, but I think our teams performance has inspired me to at least start looking for Judo lessons, one of the olympic sports I always watch. xD

And whoo, go Mo!

Did you see him hugging his daughter at the end? That's what the Olympics is for. It's one of those perfect moments were you're just so proud of the person for winning and getting that far. It makes me warm and fuzzy.

Yeah it's so touching! Especially when a country wins and their national anthem is played and they cry, I've been very close to crying many times, even when it's not my country that has won, haha!

Did you see the mens weightlifting? Someone told me that a Korean guy's elbow snapped or something, that must have been so, so, so painful. Glad I didn't see it.

No I didn't. But with you and Keo talking about it, I might have to watch some highlighted clips tonight! Weightlifting isn't something I'm really into, but you never know - It's always fun to root for the hometeam.

And I just realized that I missed your post up there, Biggles! I got to see a little bit of the riding (cross country and jumping, I think), but it wasn't on a day where it was raining. It was really fun watching them travel all throughout the grounds, though. They had the outdoor track set up beautifully! I just have to feel bad for the people there in person - They'd only see a horse run by for about 5 seconds at a time.

Oscar Pistorius raced today!

He was eliminated in the semi-finals for the men's 400, but it's still a big deal to see him race. The entire coverage was focused on him - The poor winner of that heat, James, barely made it on camera.

Well, it's certainly a novel approach. And Novelty can get you places. A new computer probably wouldn't hurt either.

I think the whole build up towards it and the planning building etc greatly masked my opinion on the games and as they progressed they got better I was actually a little sad because it shows tat te world can get along for 16 days every four years and it made me so happy seeing all the athletes smiling and laughing. But through the chaos and buildup with a couple of mishaps the plucky Brit managed to pull it off, I think that the closing Ceremoney was abosolutly fantastic! We maybe a silly little country but by god do we know how to put on a show!

Roll on Rio 2016!!

I got a lot out the games, personally. They'll be more memorable than Beijing for me. If you have comcast, only a few more days before the on demand coverage of the Olympics goes away. Catch up on anything you missed while you can!

Too busy to care for the Olympics this time round though a classmate of mine won a silver medal.

Also the village all the athletes stay at is well known for becoming a huge orgy that the organisers of the Olympics who were giving out condoms to ensure protection actually ran out.

The condoms have run out at almost all the recent Olympics, haven't they?

Yep, only official condoms handed out by the Olympic organisers are allowed. They've run out of condoms at multiple games.

15 condoms a day per athlete:
The raunchiest Olympics ever? Record 150,000 condoms handed out to athletes for London Games - that's 15 EACH | Mail Online
