I know. That's why i made it a random art page.
To get practice in.
When you say it will be on such a page
then that's not really that random.
So I wont tell anyone what page it is on or if it's on the top or bottom.

That works.

Makes it a surprise, and keeps them from just ignoring the thread until page so-and-so.

Good thinking on that one, really.

I should get back into drawing....but instead I've been in more of a writing and photography mood lately.

Yerah, I can't really draw very well myself...

I do write a LOT, and some of it's actually pretty good, or so they tell me.

A lot to be said for drawing though, it's hard to get people to post in a thread with a story as a prize, I mean if they want that, they just RP, lol.

Photography has always interested me, but good cameras cost a gob of money I haven't got, and I'd either break it or have to pawn it during a dry spell... Still fancy it though.

I'm starting to seriously work on my novel... after a few years of putting it off
There's just a few plot hiccups to sort out, but characters are set.

I've done that sort of writing before, a lot of pros do it all the time, as their standard MO, and yet I find some of my favorite stories are the ones that just seem to spew themselves out of me like vomit, spontaneously. Sorry to use that analogy, but it's what it feels like.

It's like I sit and look at the screen, and then my hands start moving, and the next thing I know I have a short story, or the first ten chapters of a new book, or whatever.

Then it dries up, and one day I feel it come on again and go open the file up, and start typing on auto pilot again.

Sometimes things get screwy, like a plot branch or fork ends up being a loose end or something glaringly contradicts something else, but that's what proofreading and rewrites are for.

As for planning out a story prior to writing it, it's useful if you already have an idea for an awesome unfoldment to an ending, like being inspired by something and using the revelation of it as the denouement, because then you can plan the whole thing out without losing sight of where you want it to go. It's so much easier to plan and plot something when you have a goal, an end in sight.

I just tend to do more creative work myself when I let myself trance out to it and write it on auto-mode. I also can write a buttload more in a shorter time when it's on me like that, it's like I'm on fire compared to my normal writing pace.

On rare occasions, I get both. I'll have an inspiration, and then I'll start writing on autopilot, while planning future bits as I go along, and developing things in my head as my fingers click away. Then later what comes out is directly influenced by what I was thinking over, and it shapes the story more. It's like the two modes working in conjunction.

Ugh, I wish I could write like that. Spontaneously, I mean. Usually I do some amount of thinking before writing down a story. Maybe I over think, but I know that it doesn't work if I don't plan. So that's what I'm doing. Planning. And it's taking a while. I'm actually getting the story from the characters. Their goals and wants and what-nots. I find it a bit easier, because essentially, they are the story.

Also, I have to write it down. I can't type a story. I need paper and ink. It may not be very practical now, but it's comfortable

It's been a while since I wrote a short story. I think the last one was about a sock who ran away

LOL, I've had socks run away, it was all my own fault, I didn't love them enough.

Yeah, planning is good, and all, but some spontaneity is also good. If you invent characters and flesh them out well and make them as like real people as you can, their stories do seem to sort of tell themselves, especially when you put them together and let them interact.

It's like being an Olympian god or goddess, crafting little people of clay and turning them loose to see what they do, really. They take on lives of their own and it's like you can experience all of these people's lives while still being yourself.

I think it's super cool and peachy.

Hehe, this sock clearly wasn't happy with his life's purpose. He left on his own accord and had quote a few adventures

That's basically how my story is coming together! The main character has a goal, side characters have their goals, so as they meet we see how the goals inter-mingle and collide until we get to the end
Lot's of fun!

I think that's a beautiful sort of story, really.

Tired of going about with someone's foot up its back end, the sock strikes out on its own and lives its own life, a life of adventure.

"Every one of us socks is going to wear out someday, but I for one want to look back and say, "I wore myself out, dammit, and I had a fabulous time doing it!" <-- *imagines a sock saying this*

I have a sock story somewhere, it's actually sort of similar, and involves a monstrous laundry dryer devouring them and them all being saved by a heroic sock who is being guided by visions, like Joan of Arc.

I wrote it as a short, humorous thriller, but it's so much more when I think about it...

His famous line was,"While all the rest had to smell the stench of their owners' perspiration, I got to smell the stench of freedom."

And it was called, The Stench of Freedom

Looking back at it, I think it could use some editing. I may do that, but the adventures will stay the same

I might just do that

I did post a story in the literature forum. You know that poem The walrus and the Carpenter? Yeah, they talked to the oysters about cabbages and kings and ceiling wax? So I kinda wrote a story tying that all together.

I need to fancy up my story thread... and post other stories

I'm sort of trying to do some of that myself here, at least the things I know nobody's going to pay me to write... XD

Erg, I'm winding down, I'm really trying to keep alert, even have coffee, but I might fall asleep and look all rude like I'm ignoring everything... Just a warning.

I know everyone's cool with people vanishing suddenly, because lol, internet, but I still try to warn people if I can...

It's usually a VERY long time before I go back to something and,"Yeah, this needs tweaking"

But yeah, I always vanish suddenly so I'm not surprised when others do it...^^

Ooo awesome. I just draw digitally. I do two different types of digital art.
Pixel art and Digital drawing.
I am mostly focusing on my digital drawing though.

At a event?
Like in real life?

I love digital art but yep my stuff is tangible. I paint space scenes, nebulae. And I like crafty stuff. I'm going to something called Lightning Across the Plains (this will be my second year) It's a sort of religious retreat for Heathens. Think Viking version of a Ren Fair. I donated some stuff to auction last time and it went well. So I'd like to try selling and trading too.

It really is. I need supplies, or to find and take stock of what I do have. We're moving so things are scattered. I need more paint. I always need more paint.
