"Then why are you being so hard on him?" Aislin asked. She had stopped being so afraid of Saif once she realized he wasn't going to hurt her.

"Because I don't like being here," Sabine said after a moment. "I don't like being trapped here under supervision. It's too..." She floundered for words for a few moments. "It's not like you and Saif. Saif is good to you, he's nice to you. He kind of sticks around so you can talk if you want. Cadr vanishes like half the time."

"Do you ever indicate you want Cadr to stick around?" Aislin pointed out. She knew her sister could be stubborn sometimes.

"...No," Sabine mumbled. "But I don't know how! I don't even know what I'd say to him if I did ask him to stick around."

"Well, maybe it's something to think about," Aislin commented, going back to her sewing.

Sabine huffed but didn't say anything else, just going back to her own sewing as well. She could figure this all out sometime later, when she had to.

Cadr let the girls be for a while, until dusk. Then he went to collect Sabine.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

"Yeah." Sabine got up and glanced at him before she looked back at Aislin. "See you later."

"Take care," Aislin replied.

Cadr waited for Sabine to say her goodbyes before heading back to the nest with her.

Sabine was quiet as they walked, frowning a little as she thought. So Aislan had a point; clearly she'd been a little unfair to Cadr. But she still wasn't sure what to do with him.

Cadr kept an eye out as they walked back to his nest, and he let Sabine go in first once they got there.

Sabine eyed him for a moment before she huffed. Clearly Aislin's words were getting to her.

"I don't mind if you hang around," she said abruptly. "If you wanted to. Although I wouldn't blame you if you don't. Watching someone sew isn't exactly riveting."

Cadr blinked. That was new.

"Actually," he said carefully, "I was going to suggest staying in tonight, as long as you don't mind."

Sabine shrugged after a moment. "Sure. It's your place, after all, not mine. Although I probably won't be good company. I'm normally not."

"But would you be comfortable with me being here tonight?" Cadr asked. He typically waited until she was asleep to make himself comfortable for the night.

Sabine hesitated at that. She might not be, but she'd have to get used to him eventually anyway.

"So long as you're not hovering."

"I'll try not to," Cadr replied. He grinned a bit. "Hovering is difficult in a closed space, anyways," he joked.

Sabine surprised herself by snorting at that and shaking her head at him, ducking into his nest.

"I do have needles," she said, almost playfully threatening.

Cadr responded by holding his hands up in a 'whoa, watch out' gesture, although he was grinning.

"I'll watch myself, then," he said, following her inside.

Sabine found herself just about to smile, amused, and instead shook her head and went to the little space she'd claimed for herself, settling back to her sewing. Fortunately she did still have that to do.

Cadr watched to make sure she settled in.

"I don't think it's a good idea to wander too far from here for a little while," he commented.

"Problems?" Sabine kept her voice mild, watching him for a few moments over her sewing. She figured that must be it, but she was rather curious.

"Someone is trying to move into the area," Cadr replied. "I don't trust him. I would rather you stay close for a while, just in case."

Sabine thought that over for a few moments. Someone new probably wouldn't play by the same rules, so Cadr probably wasn't just being overbearing. So she nodded. She could manage staying inside for a few days.

"Thank you," Cadr replied. "I know you don't like being cooped up, Sabine. I'll do what I can to make it bearable until we're sure this intruder isn't dangerous. Or until he leaves, whichever comes first."
