Tina led the way out of Gold's rooms and into a guest room that was already clean and made up for her.

"There. This should be okay. See if you can get to sleep. If not I can always get you more tea."

"You don't have to," Rachel said. "I'm sure you have other things to worry about."

"Not at the moment." Tina shook her head. "Go ahead and get comfortable and try to sleep, okay? I'm making some sleepy time tea for me anyway, so if you want some here will be plenty."

"Alright. Thanks." Rachel opened the door and slipped into the room quietly, making sure her hair didn't get caught when she closed the door behind her.

Tina left her to get settled in and headed back to the kitchen, rolling her shoulders a few times to work out some tension. She put the kettle on to boil again.

Gold made his way back into the kitchen at that point.

"So," he said. "How fares our unexpected guest?"

"Not so great," Tina said with a sigh. "Tired and hurt. I'm hoping she'll get some sleep, at least."

"I wouldn't bet on it yet," Gold said. He sat down next to her. "Did she happen to tell you what happened?"

"They were exploring looking for some shiny thing and Hook changed. Apparently he forgot her. She said the last thing he remembered was going to Storybrooke to find you." Tina shrugged.

"He's forgotten that much?" Gold asked. That was a bit surprising. "That's quite the chunk of time to suddenly be missing."

"Yeah." Tina shrugged. "And he wouldn't let her take a look. He's back to the mindset of "all magic is bad", apparently."

"I see," Gold replied. "That is problematic." He went quiet, thinking. "It definitely sounds like a curse, however unfocused. Likely designed to deter intruders, given how you say it hit the pirate."

Tina nodded. "Right. But as a curse it needs to be broken to get his memories back so those two can get back together and things will be fine."

"And there is the crux of the problem, I see," Gold said. "I think it's safe to assume that since Rapunzel is here alone, she was not able to convince him to let her try to break the curse."

"Exactly. And if she couldn't get close, he's definitely not going to give you a chance." Tina sighed again and got up to pull the kettle off the fire.

"Then the best course of action now is to wait," Gold replied, letting her putter around to make tea. "True Love is not so easily dissolved, he will realize sooner or later that there happens to be a Rapunzel-shaped hole in his life."

"And until then, she'll be miserable," Tina pointed out. "And staying here."

"Would you rather I sent her off somewhere else?" Gold asked, raising an eyebrow. "I can."

"No, I prefer she stay here where I can keep an eye on her." Tina shook her head.

"Then I will put up with her staying," Gold said. He didn't particularly like it, but he would deal.

"Thank you," she murmured. "I know this isn't exactly ideal for you."

Gold put an arm around her gently.

"I will tolerate her as long as I can," he said. "But I'm not particularly good at sharing, so I don't know how long it will be."

Gold held her close, already making a mental note to keep tabs on Hook's favored port. He wanted to keep an eye on when the pirate was around, and for how long. The sooner he could get Rapunzel and her pirate together again, the sooner things could go back to normal.

It didn't take Hook long to wrangle up a crew again and start going off pirating again. But the longer he was out, the more he found he was missing something, and the more angry and snippy he got with his crew.
