"He's gotten used to me, finally," Hook said with a grin. "The first few years were hard on him."

Rachel couldn't help but laugh a little at that.

"I bet they were," she said.

"So we'll go and see if we can get an egg," Hook said. "Henry, you'll stay here." He gave the kid a look that brooked no arguments.

"Aww, why can't I come with you?" Henry asked. "It's dragons, dragons are awesome!"

"Because I refuse to be the one to tell everyone I let you get roasted by a giant lizard," Rachel said. She looked around a bit, until she found the book of weather magic she'd been studying. "Look through this for a while. Just no actual practice until we get back."

Henry sighed but took the book.

"If anything happened to you, there would be a line of people to kill us," Hook said. "It's better for everyone if you stay on the ship."

"Alright," Henry muttered reluctantly.

"Thanks, Henry," Rachel said. "Promise, when we get back, I'll help you play around with the wind some, alright?"

"Okay," Henry agreed, cheered by that thought. Magic practice was always good, after all.

Hook just snorted quietly.

Rachel nudged Killian gently.

"Let me know when we get there," she said. "I need to go make sure I have what I need for the spell."

"I'll let you know, love," Hook agreed. It would be a while yet. "Go on."

"Thanks," Rachel said. She gave him a quick kiss, and then started to herd Henry back below. She figured it was best to keep an eye on him for now.

Henry went along willingly enough, because he knew what they were doing and he also had good reading material.

Rachel settled in and started working on the spell she would need. She wanted to have a few others on hand, as well, just in case, and she wasn't skilled enough yet to pull complex magic on the fly. She needed to prep it first and have it ready to go.

Henry ended up sitting and watching her work, because that was even better than reading. Especially since he kind of sort of had an idea what she was doing, and could sort of follow along with the preparations.

Rachel didn't mind letting him watch. He might be a beginner, but she was still certain he understood at least some parts of what she was doing, and she was totally okay answering questions if he asked any, as long as he didn't ask anything too complicated.

Henry did ask a few questions, but mostly he just kind of followed along and tested how much he understood. He was really kind of proud of himself when he realized he understood more than he would have guessed.

Once Rachel was done sketching out her prep work, she glanced at him.

"Following okay so far?" she asked.

"I think so," Henry said. "This is the invisibility spell, right?" He was pretty sure that was what the framework was for, anyway.

"Right," Rachel said, nodding. She paused. "And if anyone asks, I didn't teach you this. I know nothing of any mischief you might get up to with it."

Henry grinned. "Deal," he agreed. More magic lessons and no one was getting in trouble, always a good combination as far as he was concerned.

"This one," Rachel said, pulling over another one, "is a shield spell. Just in case we end up with dragons angry at us."

"That's probably a really good idea," Henry agreed. "Can you adjust the strength of that? Or is just what it is?"

"Probably," Rachel replied. "I just have to figure out how strong this one is, first, and see if I can tweak it some."

"And how are you going to test it?" Henry asked, looking at her. Because he had literally no idea, but that didn't mean she didn't know.

"I'll figure something out," Rachel replied. "Maybe once we make land, I'll test it out before we go find the dragons."

"Okay." Henry shuffled a bit closer to get a better look at the spell. "It looks pretty solid to me," he offered tentatively.
