Tina was already back at the apartment and cooking, humming to herself as she worked. She'd managed to make extra counter space by bringing in a plank of wood, a few sawhorses set to the correct height, and a layer of plastic wrap. Because clearly she could pull a MacGyver.

Rachel couldn't help but laugh a bit when she walked in.

"Impressive," she said looking at the makeshift counter.

"Thanks." Tina grinned. "I figured it's better than nothing. And it works well enough. Dinner will be ready in about half an hour." Stretching briefly, she went over to plop herself on the couch. "So how was work?"

"Well," Rachel said, "there was a drunk pirate in the holding tank." She paused and grinned. "Another phrase I never thought I'd say."

Tina laughed quietly. "No kidding. So did he behave himself or do I have to go scold him?" She looked over at Rachel, raising her eyebrows.

"Honestly, I'd like to just ignore him," Rachel replied. "While we're on the subject, how was your day?"

"Good. Quiet." Tina was quiet for a moment. "I think I'm going to do my overnight stargazing trip tomorrow, the one I mentioned like a week ago? Tomorrow night is supposed to be nice and clear, so I thought I might go then. And don't worry, I'll cook before I leave so you won't starve." She grinned teasingly at Rachel.

"I can totally take care of myself for one night," Rachel protested, grinning. "Where are you going to go, anyways? It's not like our last place where you could just climb up on the roof and be okay."

"No, but I found a spot about a mile and a half out," Tina said with a shrug. "Nice flat spot without trees, so it'll work just fine."

"Be careful when you go out, alright?" Rachel said. "Reality got thrown out the window when we drove into this town, so who knows what could be out there."

"I'll be taking two flashlights, one of my camping lanterns, and my pepper spray, just in case." Tina shot her a quick grin. "I don't think I need to take a kitchen cleaver, though."

Rachel grinned.

"Good, because I won't be explaining that one to the sheriff for you," she teased.

Tina grinned and shook her head. "You know we can still switch jobs whenever you want," she offered. "I really don't mind."

"No, trust me, you'll be happier at the library," Rachel replied. "More inanimate objects than people."

Tina sighed but gave up, shrugging once and then getting up a while later when the timer went off.

"So did the pirate behave himself?"

"He was in the holding tank, what could he possibly have done?" Rachel pointed out. "And the fact he was there in the first place kind of means he wasn't behaving to start with."

"Yeah but he still could have been bugging the crap out of you or doing inappropriate things even if he was on the wrong side of the bars." Tina shrugged.

"And I was the one on the side of the bars that had access to the supply of Mace," Rachel pointed out. "I'm not too worried about him in there."

"Just making sure." Tina shrugged and doled out portions of food, carrying one over to the couch for Rachel. "So what shall we watch tonight? I'll let you pick."

Rachel opened her mouth, then closed it again.

"You notice how the vast majority of Disney movies feel kind of off-limits now?" she asked.

"Yes. I can't even listen to Disney songs right now. It just feels too... wrong." Tina shivered briefly.

"Good, it's not just me," Rachel said. "I can't even watch the Little Mermaid anymore because she might be out there somewhere. It's so weird."

"It is," Tina agreed with a sigh. "But at the same time it kind of makes sense. I mean, we already know that Disney mangled the original stories, now that we know there are people behind the stories it's worse."

"I kind of don't even want to go read Brother Grimm anymore," Rachel said. "For a bit of research it was fine, but I really don't want to read it if I don't have to."

"Yeah, I know the feeling," Tina said with a shrug. "Alright, let's pick some harmless mindless cartoon to watch tonight, then."
