"Overwhelming evidence?" Rachel suggested. "Make it so nobody would even think that anyone else had done it?" She looked at Emma. "Why, what happened?"

Emma sighed, already tired though it wasn't even lunch time yet. "It looks like someone's trying to frame Gold for murder."

Well. That was new. Rachel blinked.

"As I understand it," she said cautiously, "there are a lot of people in this town who wouldn't feel bad about that in the slightest. But who would actually have the chutzpah and the means to do it?"

"Regina is the first person who comes to mind, but I don't know why she would now," Emma said, frowning. "Other than that... half a dozen others come to mind, maybe, that could have done it. That doesn't put them high on my list, but they're possibilities."

"Okay, fill me in just a bit on Regina?" Rachel asked. "Because the last thing I remember about her was that she was still kind of all-powerful and in charge of everything. And I don't really think that's the case anymore, judging by the town."

Emma shook her head. "She's trying not to use her magic, last I heard," she said. "Because of Henry. But she could change her mind, she's never been without her magic before." Emma rubbed her temples.

"Henry," Rachel repeated, trying to put a face with the name. Right. The kid. "Your son?" She looked at Emma questioningly.

Emma nodded. "Yeah. Regina raised him up until a few months ago." She sighed. Life was complicated.

Rachel nodded and didn't press for details on that one.

"Well, I figure if she wanted to frame Gold, you said she's got magic, so she could do it. Ask her, see what she says? When did you say this all happened, anyways?"

"Guy was killed last night, showed up outside Gold's shop an hour or two ago." Emma looked over at her. "Why? You know something?"

"No, just curious," Rachel said. "I was at home all night. After I left here I stopped at the library to kick Hook out for Belle, and then I went home." She quirked a grin. "Took forever to find a good movie to watch, I can't even look at Disney anymore., or like half of Pixar."

Emma snorted. "I know what you mean," she muttered feelingly. She paused for a moment as a thought occurred to her. "You live with Tina, right? Where was she all night?"

"Tina?" Rachel shrugged. "She went out stargazing. She does that maybe once a month, if the weather is good, and she said she found a nice spot out in the woods. Why?" She looked at Emma and some of the pieces clicked. "Wait, you don't think she had anything to do with it, do you?"

"She said she was with Gold all night," Emma pointed out. "And no one knows where she went. She might not be directly involved, but she might also be covering for Gold."

"It's possible she was with Gold," Rachel said. "I remember she mentioned once about trying to get him to go with her stargazing. I mean, she already takes him lunch every day, so he must like having her around, right?"

"That or they've got a deal going." Emma's eyes narrowed. "No one likes Gold, why would she?"

"I don't know, maybe because he's familiar," Rachel said, shrugging. "As far as I know, Tina and I come from the same place. For the most part, we only remember each other and him. She remembers encountering other people, and I remember Red, but most of our memories are just together, in my tower, and occasionally Gold is there." Rachel sighed. "Granted, it's not a lot, but I mean, even if you only remember a little, wouldn't you want to stick close to someone familiar?"

"But you're not," Emma pointed out, just to be stubborn. "I don't think you've been to see him much at all, and you don't talk about him with any fondness."

"I just think the pawn shop is creepy," Rachel pointed out. "It's creepy as hell, and it doesn't help that some of those things in there are familiar and it made me uneasy the first time I was there. Tina wasn't as freaked out as I was."

"Huh." Emma was quiet for a minute before she sighed. "I guess I should go talk to Regina, get it over with."

"Keep in mind, Sheriff, what I do remember tells me that I was kept in a tower my whole life, and Gold was the one who kept me there," Rachel said. "I don't remember all of it, or even half of it, but I do know that. And I also know that while I was kept in a tower, nothing bad actually happened to me. So I have no reason to hate Gold, really." She looked at Emma. "Talk to Regina and see what she has to say, then figure out what to do next."

Emma nodded and left to go see Regina and see what she could find out.

At least she hadn't had to force the mob to disband earlier.

Thankfully, the next day was Saturday so Rachel didn't technically need to go in to work. She stayed home, just watching as Tina went on a truly epic baking binge, making just about everything she knew how to make. Rachel was vaguely impressed.

By dinner time, Tina had a small mountain of baked goods of all kinds, as well as flour all over her clothes and dotting her hair. She also had three loaves of fresh bread to go with the stew she'd made for dinner.

"Okay, I think dinner's ready if you're not full of pastries." Tina pushed her hair back out of her face, leaving a streak of flour across her forehead.

"You mean you actually had time to cook real food in between all of that?" Rachel asked as she carefully moved things around on the counter.
