Rachel ended up settling not too far away from where Hook was, curling up in an overstuffed chair with a book she knew she'd read many times already. She could hear him swearing quietly, and tried to ignore it.

Hook was busy writing as he watched, and once the movie was over he stood and stretched, and happened to glance over in her direction. He blinked and then grinned.

"Rachel! Well, it's been a while."

Rachel looked up, blinking, when she heard her name.

"Only a few days," she ventured carefully.

"True," Hook said. "Of course, you don't look all that pleased to see me." He pouted.

"You don't seem all that surprised about it," Rachel pointed out in return. She grinned just slightly. "You should go watch Treasure Planet next. Space pirates and all."

Hook blinked, startled, before he grinned. "I shall add it to my list," he agreed. Because yes, he did have a list. "Any other suggestions?"

"The library just got On Stranger Tides," Rachel said, shrugging. "Comes after At World's End, I know you watched that one."

Hook nodded. "Very well. Those movies are horrible inaccurate and give us a bad name, but I shall watch it anyway." Mostly so he'd have a better idea of what misconceptions he had to fix for her but still.

"And not because you think it's hysterical," Rachel said dryly. She raised an eyebrow.

"Oh they are quite amusing to watch, even with this inaccuracies." Hook ginned shamelessly.

"That's the real reason you want to watch it," Rachel said. She wasn't teasing no matter what anyone said and she would deny it if anyone mentioned it.

Hook snickered and shook his head. "Now whatever gave you that idea?" he said, grinning broadly.

"Well, you haven't stopped watching them, have you?" Rachel pointed out. "Except for right now when you interrupted my reading."

"Well, pardon me," Hook said, snarking only a little. "Shall I let you return to your reading?"

"I'd like it if you would," Rachel said. "Whether or not you will is up for debate, though, since I can't make you leave."

Hook looked at her for a moment before he nodded, moving back to his seat. Hey, he could stay and bother her, but there wasn't really a point in that, and he didn't actually want to piss her off.

The fact that he gave in so quickly surprised Rachel a bit. Maybe he was something of a gentleman after all.

Hook went back and settled himself in front of the TV again, watching the next movie.

Rachel was in to work bright and early the next morning, ready to keep organizing the sheriff station. She had no idea who the poor moron was who had the job before her, but they didn't do anything resembling a good job, so she had to start from scratch. She set her coat and back down at her desk and paused when she saw a note and a small paper-wrapped object.

Hook had snuck in earlier and left those things for her. The first was his List of Things Those Bloody Prattling Movies Got Wrong, and the paper-wrapped object had a note attached in the same slightly curly handwriting: Don't worry, this isn't cursed or Aztec, I like to think I have better taste than that.

Rachel couldn't help it, she started laughing a bit as she read the list. She had to admit, a particular favorite was "Hardly anything is solved with the word 'parley'." Putting the list down, she unwrapped the thing from the paper and gasped softly. A gold medallion at least two inches across sat on the paper, already strung on a length of gold chain. It was heavy in her hand, and it looked old. She just looked at it, surprised.

Hook spent a good part of the day in the library reading Peter Pan and getting caught up on some pop culture. Because he needed that.

At the end of the day, Rachel pretty much went straight home after work. She wanted Tina's opinion on the note and the offering of jewelry.

Tina was baking another batch of chocolate comfort cookies, since she was kind of bored. So she looked over when she heard the door open.

"Hey. I hope soup's good for dinner, it's almost done."

"Soup's fine," Rachel said as she put her things down. She pulled the pirate list and the medallion out of her bag. "Look at these and give me your thoughts?" She held them out to Tina pleadingly.
