Dominic nodded and led her towards the market. It wasn't as busy as, say, the Mixed Market that all of the clans visited, but it would have everything he needed to look after a human.

Mira looked around curiously, though she did stay close to Dominic. She didn't actually really want to get him into trouble, after all. But the market was fantastic, kind of like farmers markets back home.

"Stay close," Dominic instructed as they entered the market. "If you see something you need, let me know and I will get it for you."

Mira nodded and looked around. "Um, I'm guessing you already have soap," she murmured, being sure to keep her voice down. "Maybe an extra set of clothes?" Because she knew she'd garnered more than one look in her jeans and t-shirt.

Dominic nodded and took her over to a shop that advertised a tailor and a seamstress. After telling them what he needed, he let them take the measurements of Mira that they would need to make her a few sets of clothes. And there would be a few sets. Four or five or so.

Mira held still, moving when they wanted her to but otherwise just watching them with banked curiosity. She was having fun making a list of differences between herself and the demons, just in physical matters.

After the measurements were taken and they were assured that the clothes would be delivered, Dominic took Mira back out to the main market.

"Anything else?" he asked.

Mira glanced around but didn't see anything imminently pressing, so she glanced at him. "What's the difference between humans and demons? Besides the long lifespans, I mean. What are the other differences?"

Dominic paused. That wasn't the answer he had been looking for from her.

"Several ones, I suppose," he replied. "It is not something I have ever had cause to think about."

"Huh. I've noticed a few of you have markings." She raised her eyebrows at him, although she continued to look around while they were at the market.

"Many do," Dominic replied. "Clan markings, ability representations, and the like."

"Okay." Mira pondered that for a little while as she pointed out a few things she'd need. "So what do your markings mean?" She blinked at him.

"Heritage," Dominic replied. "Father and Micah have similar markings, as do Jonah and Marcus. Although, Jonah and Marcus do not have markings as bold."

Mira nodded, briefly debating touching one of the markings to see if it felt any different, and then shook the thought away. "I think that's everything," she said quietly. "You have a bath, clothes are being made, I have a place to sleep, you've been good about feeding me so far..." She shrugged.

"You will let me know if there is anything else you require," Dominic said. He gestured for her to follow and led her back to the house to settle in for a while.

Mira nodded and followed him back to the house, getting settled in again. Now all she needed was some decent company that didn't mind talking to her and some sort of distraction. Maybe she could get him to bring her some books...

It didn't take Dominic long to settle back into his usual routine. He sparred with his father or older brother, or helped tutor his younger brothers, and made a couple of rather reluctant visits to the court. And, in the evenings, he relaxed with Mira's surprisingly pleasant company.

Mira kept herself busy enough during the days while he was out, cleaning or just going through the house, familiarizing herself with things. It didn't take her long to run out of places to explore and things to clean.

"Dominic?" she asked quietly. "Is it possible to get a few books for me to read?"

"Books?" Dominic considered that for a moment. "You can read?"

"Yeah. It was part of basic education where I come from." Mira blinked at him. "Is that not normal?"

"It is rare to come across humans that can read," Dominic replied. "Most cannot."

"Oh." Mira was quiet for a few moments. So far everything she'd seen pointed to her either being somewhere very close to nowhere... or not quite in her time. Her mind balked at both options, and she felt rather pale.

"If I were to get you some books," Dominic continued, "do you have a preference?"

"Um." Mira had to stop and think about that for a second. Mystery and romance and fantasy novels were probably out. "History?" she asked cautiously. "If that's not possible, then I guess whatever you can get."

Dominic nodded.

"I will see what I can get for you," he said. History shouldn't be hard to find, really.
