oh DD, I can agree with that whole heartedly. I work retail and I'm in charge of holiday price changes and sales at my store. And we have price changes starting daily this week. Also we have to prep the store for an official price audit, which means in the time I'm not changing and prepping signs I'm scanning each individual price code in the store to ensure that it matches what it needs to be.

I know xD
I work in a factory putting kits and stuff together and we have to make sure no bar codes of the individual products can be seen by someone scanning it.

I plan on it. Just need to find something that I can easily get into. And don't knock the twilight stuff. I did and I put it off for years because of just it being too popular.

Belated reply! If I sound worked up at all it's just because having to justify not being a fan of something without sounding like a hipster is hard work.
It seems to be a trope in some romance fiction, especially supernatural fiction, for the male character to be controlling/domineering of the heroine (so her life can fall apart when something happens to him) and for what in reality would be unacceptable behaviour like stalking to be seen as romantic.
Sorry if you felt I was knocking it; I'm trying to stay polite. I've read full chapters available online and a close friend bought the first novel in an attempt to see what we were missing but we just have different tastes.

Maybe some women would rather not have to worry about life and leave it up to a man..

If ANYone, man OR woman, would rather just leave EVERYthing up to someone else, they're lazy and they're fools.
Precisely because they end up not being able to fend for themselves when something happens to that other person.

No I do get it. I didn't care in the slightest for Harry potter, even though everyone else around me seemed enthralled. My creative writing teacher even read the first chapter or two aloud as she thought it was inspirational for us and our projects. I wasn't enjoying it in the slightest.
Now that I'm getting into the series, I can start to see some of Edward and Bella's flaws, and the relationship isn't quite as magical as first. You have to admit, though, that the thought of having a man be that head of heels in love with you that he is so focused on protecting you like Edward is seeming to do doesn't make you just a tad bit jealous. I mean I'm grounded in my 5 year marriage to my husband, and I wouldn't trade him for the world...but you get to a point where that passion is just not quite as intense and a good romance novel, whether it be with fantasy creatures or not, is kind of fun to immerse yourself in. I definitely do see where it is a bit unhealthy, and where you're coming from.

Mmmm I don't leave everything up to my husband, but at the same token I think it would be really difficult to move on if something were to happen to him. I have friends but to be honest the bond we share and just how comfortable and easy life is with one another....I struggle to think I could find happiness with someone else. I am someone that needs to be living with someone else. I don't think I could stand to live by myself. My husband has left for a week at a time for job training, and the silence really got to me and felt very depressing. Just having someone here in the same presence with me....
I do leave all the driving up to him, but I have a fear of driving so great that I worry every time I get behind the wheel of having panic attacks.

When I read Harry Potter now I keep mentally substituting the names for their My Immortal equivalents. Badfic is one of my guilty pleasures.
I'm in the forever-alone bracket so maybe I just can't relate to romantic relationships at all.

I guess that's something that depends on individual personalities.
Me, I'm the kind that needs my space.
I have been in a committed relationship for seven years and counting, but as much as I love him, and as much as I love being with him, I can't be with him all the time - it would drive me nuts.
And I'm not even talking about 24/7 here. We both have our jobs and all, but even with that much daily separation, I still need my alone-time when I get home. Going a week at a time is just fine by me. Two weeks . . . eh, it's okay. Three weeks is about the time I really have a need to see him again.

Wow I need to have my daily interaction with mine. Sometimes it is just simply being in the same room as him, and we don't even speak. I always need my daily hug and kiss. I'm a very touchy feely kind of person in a relationship and I need that. I don't want to be around him 24/7 as the time he spent laid off while I was working at home or laid off when I was laid off I simply got sick of him. I jokingly told him I needed him to go away so I could miss him.
