Oh, and as a psych major I've studied the happiness demographic thing. It's not that you're the happiest you'll ever be--far from. It's just as a whole people seem to be happiest at that age because things are coming together--jobs, relationships, etc.

For me middle school sucked. I guess I'm somewhat unhappy with all the stress of college, but I can deal...generally I'm stable, though. Neither very sad, or very happy.

Tsk. Private schools haven't won any praises in my book.

It wasn't really the school but I just went through about 10 years of school with the same 25 assholes, and they whole grade was always together so I couldn't ever get away from them or have a chance to make any real friends.
I've had a few stress filled depressions but they were normally over nothing or resolved quickly enough.

That sounds sucky. I had my friends in high school, but was never very trusting of them because of my experience with people in middle school.

I had one bad depression, but have seemed to be okay since. I just needed to get the cause of it out of my life, and have been relatively fine since. Certainly never that sad again.

@Elysium-
Yeah, I think it is something that is more prevalent among countries such as U.S.A. There are not so many Mexican restaurants here at all on the national level. There are a few in our more 'international' cities, although even then I would imagine them to be at much lower levels to what you would find there. Due to our geographic position, you are much more likely to find Asian restaurants here.

Haha yeah, I was making the point on my contemporary happiness more in jest. Although I kind of ruined my joke by adding in the qualifier. Made my post come out as a weird half serious, half joking stillborn hybrid. I think my happiest period will probably be offset by a decade. So maybe between 35 and 40.

@Birdie-
I live in Aotearoa New Zealand. More specifically I live in Palmerston North. It is a city where one of our three Massey University Campuses are located. Not that Massey is our only university mind you. It is however, ultimately the reason why I am here. It is quite a nice and comfortable city. Although it is also a small city. xD

I quite like alcohol myself. Although drink it on a semi-regular basis. I might go a few weeks where I drink with friends at least once a week. Or I might go a few months without drinking any alcohol. Although I am not so fond of kissing girls who have been drinking. Can't quite escape the memory of my first girlfriend almost throwing up in my mouth. u.u;;

@Crim: America really is a melting pot. Asian restaurants, Mexican restaurants, French restaurants...anything you can think of we have an abundance of. Though, your Asian restaurants are probably better on a whole. One of my best friends is a first gen Chinese immigrant, and god...he brought me some of his family's food once...best Asian food I have ever eaten.

The Mexican is hit or miss. It's one of those things that has the potential to be really disgusting in a way that makes you worship the toilet.

I don't know when I'll be my happiest. I'd like to just be on the same level of happiness all my life through rather than having a peak.

HA taco bell is hardly mexican fast food, it likes to pretend but ... yeah I do get real mexican food from one of the cooks from home though XD

Well I don't mind a good lovey drunk (my husband is one XD) But rude drunks, or this one girl who was driving but was so drunk she couldn't say bean burrito or make it from the order box to the window with out going over the curb.... those are the drunks I don't like. Myself I just can't get over the burn, and then just get quessy rather then tipsy and I'd rather not throw up in someones mouth sooo yeah XD

Haha I was referring to it as Mexican food in the loosest of sense. The same point can be made against several Asian restaurants and fast food stores here. The most common being Chinese stores. I imagine that majority of them have little substantive relation to mainland China food culture. The other issue of course being whose 'food culture'. As within nations there are a variety of food cultures that get dismissed from the menu when translocated. I recall listening to an Anglo Indian chef complaining about how when he goes overseas the Indian food he encounters shows little or no resemblance to the Indian food he enjoys.

Yeah, Taco Bell is...something else...not Mexican.

I hope you guys called the cops on that drunk girl. o.o

@Crim: I had friends who spent a couple of weeks abroad in China, and the food they took pictures of was...nasty to me at least, and they agreed. XD Whole fishes who still had their skin, scales, eyes, and bones...ewwww.

I also had an Indian friend when I was in elementary. I can say from experience that real Indian food smells nothing like the Indian food from restaurants. XD

See I think we have that in about 99% of our restaurants, but every once and while you'll find some place with some legit food. Though I'll admit I would be so sad if there were no sushi places around anymore

Ah currey how strongly you smell O.O

We did but we have to call the non emergency line if they aren't threatening anyone (other then with there car I guess) so basically it's pointless, and we get so many of them, OH did I tell you about the night a girl kicked another girl out of her car with stiletto heels and we had to have the cops come.

We definitely know some of the legit places around here. Still searching for a legit Mexican place, believe it or not. I've got a good Vietnamese place, Chinese places galore, good Indian, but Mexican we've only got the Americanized versions, which I love, but are not legit. Plenty of good English places as well.

Omg, hahahaha, no you did not tell me about this stiletto incident.

And no, real curry has quite the stink to it.

Yeah there is a HUGE amount of indians that come to work at intel and have brought there culture. There clothing and art is amazing though so I'm still happy they have such a strong influence. Which is beautiful but stinks, no offense but curry makes my eyes water. Or the men that just cover it with REALLY cheap calonge bleh

There's quite the Indian culture going on around here anymore. It's rampant in Boulder, but I'm sure that's nothing new to Birdie. But I agree the artwork is gorgeous, and some of the clothing, too, but I don't like the religion. Not a big fan of the wannabe 20 something hotshot Buddhist converts around here, but they can be that way if they like. I think it's stupid, but that's just me.

But yeah, when I was a kid and went to my friend's house I dreaded it. They had a really nice house, but it stank of curry. I had no idea what it was at the time, but I understand now, and I will never forget that smell.

Eh all religions from books are just people trying to control the population around them, I don't like any of it. But you know how I feel, religion is a person thing.

You know one of my old managers was taking curry as a vitamin for a little bit ( I haven't a clue for what) and it left a strange smelly yellow residue on her skin O.O it was strange

I'm a religious person, always have been, but never in the sense of a Bible beating church goer. I think being religious means interpreting religions in a way that sits right with you.

I've heard about curry doing that in passing. All those homeopathic treatments are a bunch of crud as far as I'm concerned. At least most of them. I can't bring myself to respect people who fall pray to that idiocy. Of course, one shouldn't trust too much in medicine, either, but expecting a sprig of mint to cure all ailments is naive. Or thinking that a flu shot is the spawn of Satan is naive as well.

Oh okay crazy drunk stiletto lady story:

Were are busy going right along though and then this lady pulls up and says " Will you please call the police this bitch won't get out of the car!" So we kinda freak and we ask for them to calm down and that we will call a cab for someone but the police can't come unless it's an emergency situation. But the driver just keeps yelling at this other silent person to get out of the car. This person doesn't and this goes on for a while, like at ten minutes. So we indeed get the police on the line and we tell them so and that they need to get out of the line (because by now its REALLY long) Instead the driver keeps being like "what's wrong with you why would you stay somewhere where your not wanted, we all hate you" O.O Then I finally see the door open and this older 40's lady literally falls out the other side. The driver speeds off and the lady comes up to the driver through with a whole in her pants and her leg bleeding, so we let her wait for cops and get some food. After the cops show up and she calls a ride I have to give a statement to the cops and they told me they had been drinking in a bar in portland and the town they live in was one that is almost three hours away (this happened at two am) and the girl kicked her out over "irrelevant drama from almost a decade ago" O.O so needless to say the cops stayed and waited the three hours till after we closed for the girls ride to come get her, and we were DEAD because no one wanted to drive past the three cops XD

wow my fingers hurt XD

well you know me on religion, it's your own morals not a particular building or man in a fancy hat.

Well I believe in vitamins and plants for there healing properties but it's like Aloe is good for burns, or dandelion goo that made my wart go away. But some people go to insane measures and go for stuff with no medical backing or study behind it.

Haha, oh jeeze. You can laugh about it now, but that must've been awful in the moment. That's an awesome story to hear, though.

---------- Post added 11-06-2012 at 12:55 AM ----------

That's what drives me nuts. Aloe vera is a miracle plant, never heard about dandelion goo, but it sounds like it works. But those vitamin stores are packed with a thousand bottles of worthless miracle pills.

Well it was nice that night because it was slow afterwards. But if felt SO bad for the lady. One of those I'm so glad I'm not you right now times.

---------- Post added 11-05-2012 at 10:58 PM ----------

I was suspicious about the dandelions at first myself but there was enough in my yard that I figured it didn't work nothing lost. But yeah any of those "natural cures" that costs OVER 20 bucks? Total bunk pretty much XD

I hated elementary school.
Actually I hated every year of school up until 2006 in June when I graduated high school.

Though, I have a bunch of issues with this year.

Yeah, I'm having a hard year as well.

@nonsense: How did you manage that?
