I know nothing about Kickstarter, I guess all I can say about anything like that is that Inso would need to give the go-ahead for something like that. I think Omi suggested Kickstarter before, but it seems like a lot of complication? (this is just my uninformed opinion) This would be people who weren't even members of the site giving money? That's frightening, I have to say Because money from outside sources to fund something that wouldn't guarantee any kind of return, ack!

I strongly feel that we need to turn things around so Mene itself starts to make more every month. I am convinced that if that happened Inso would find time himself, or allow us one of his team for some work. But things like kickstarter doesn't seem to be the way forward, I guess just because it wouldn't be increased income because of prolonged increased user activity, which is what we need.

Well, advertising on Kickstarter could also be an avenue to advertise the site. I don't much of Kickstater, other than the fact that there are people willing to through money at just about anything.

Something worth investigating, I guess.

That's what most people do. I wouldn't be able to donate via kickstarter till I get a job though.

I gotta agree with Senpai though I saw one guy who had donated to 179 DIFFERENT things... I mean geeze...

The real problem that I see if setting up special bonuses and such.
Like:

Pledge Rewards:
$5 - Mene is happy
$25 - Get a Menewsha themed shirt.
$100 - Get a drawing
$500 - Get a signed drawing from the staff.

Mene Stretch Goals:
$1,000 - Forum overhaul.
$3,000 - New game.
$5,000 - Menewsha starts a comic series.
$7,000 - Menewsha begins advertising the site.
$10,000 - Mene starts selling mene merchandise.

That's just what I threw together in say 20 minutes though...

You know... I thought of this. We had that cutsie St. Patties Day, right? It's something simple and sweet, and can be advertised pretty quickly... well, why not celebrate other cute little holidays, like International Pancake Day, Doctor Who (which should be coming up soon for the anniversary? Not a Doctor Who fan so I don't know.), My Little Pony, etc.

It can be so much as create an item, click/post for the grant and advertise the frick out of it on facebook, twitter, and so on.

I love the idea of "Theming" menewsha to attract people for random celebrations that many of which we could easily take care of ourselves with games and such right?
