I believe the limit is completly horrid. Its like giving someone a pie and saying you can have a slice this year and a moldy slice next year and so on. If they removed the limits then people like myself could be able to prosper and give a ton more gold to other newbies. >.< so heads up menewsha! I will find a loophole somewhere. WATCH ME ... haha... nothing evil though. just gonna find a will and a way.

The gold limit on the games used to be 500g which is now obviously decreased. The reason for them having the limit is because people were logging onto Menewsha, playing the games for gold, and then getting off. No posting, no other sort of activity. The staff hoped that by decreasing the amount of gold earned, the site would become a little bit more active from people earning their gold the old fashioned way - by posting.
And if there was no gold cap, prices would sky rocket on everything.

Velvets right. thats exactly why it happened. And actually there has been an increase in posting since the limit was lowered, at least that I've noticed.
Oh god, could you imagine the price of the Valentines '08 items if there was no gold cap! *shudder*

Haha, there was, once upon a time, no limit to the gaming gold. At all. But prices for old items inflated way faster and some people would get ridiculous amounts of gold in tetris, like me, and not talk as much as we could have.
More gold, more inflation for old items, so it's a trade off.

Careful about that loophole you're intent on finding.

More gold in the system devalues the gold. Inflation happens. The value of rare items increases, making it harder for those who don't play games to obtain them.
I don't like the limit, either. However, I understand why it's there.

Haha, that might be jumping a biiiit too far since our moderators and admins actually care and moderate and prevent hacking. Unless you are talking about their inflation. xD

I think it's more in regards to inflation.
More gold in the system, devalues it. More gold in the system allows for items to cost more, especially those that are around for a limited time.
Star; If you think Gaia is bad, they pale in comparison to Solia Online. However, that's a topic for discussing via PMs. Haha.

Enjoy your 5k CIs on release... everything would double in 24 hours, triple in a week, and be obscenely expensive for anyone who is bad at games.
I remember when there was no limit. Inflation was HORRIBLE

I remember the no limits too....I agree that that was a bad idea. I like the cap on the games. This is a forum site after all and not a gaming site. Besides, it's easy to get gold once you find a thread to chat in.

O_O I had always wondered why there was a limit.. I never thought about all this before! Good thing there is a cap then, though a little bit higher wouldn't hurt too much would it? XD

well if the cap goes up 50g chances are all the items will go up 20% in value, so it wont really benefit you any in the long run. Just makes it take longer to earn
Look at Gaia's near infinite gold gain from games? Look at their CI prices. I think I saw a CI from THAT MONTH going for like 100k each (on average)... so really adding extra forms of gold income is like playing with fire

It's already pretty easy to earn gold here anyway so there's no real reason to make the game cap higher or take it away completely. Doing that won't benefit anyone.

I agree that the gold limit is good, as it makes sense.
However, I must say that the main reason prices are so high on Gaia is due to the large amount of gold in the system, but because of that, more people have more gold. Really, I think Gaia's inflation isn't too bad, considering how easy it is for just about anyone to get a lot of gold. /personal opinion on that.
