So the guy walks in a bar and sits down. He asks the bartender for a glass of whisky. So the bartender pulls out his shotgun and fires at the guy. it barely misses his ear. He smiles at the bartender and puts down a tip. Then walks out the bar. Why did he give the guy the tip?
(hint: they guy was a ____ to him but how did he react to this?)

I tried googling the riddle (yeah yeah, I'm a cheater) and the only riddle I could find similar to this was the same, but with a glass of water replacing the glass of whisky, and the answer was the hiccups! But then that baffled me because I didn't know whisky cured hiccups?
