i've got Bipolar, so i've been through my fair share of depressive episodes. :/ i'm on meds now, which helps a lot, but i still get a little depressed sometimes. depression is not something i'd wish on anyone.

I take celexa which works great for me.
When a dr 1st offered it to me i started to argue but then my crazy abusive ma (the mom'ster) flashed before my eyes screaming i got my mind. I took the pills. I realized right away they made things better.

yeah, i was always nervous about taking pills bc of the horror stories my dad told me (he's been hospitalized several times), but once i did start taking them they made a huge difference. i'll never go back. especially with my sleeping pills! i used to have insomnia every single night and now i go to sleep at like 10pm and sleep like a baby.

I refuse to take meds for my depression.
Years ago I was given Prozac and it turned me into a raging alcoholic, started drinking rum like it was water!
Then came the night that I slashed the side of my wrist with a pocket knife...resulting in some thitry-something stitches.
No...I know why I'm depressed...I just need to get better enough to change my situation so I'll have less to be depressed about.
But, for those that the meds are helping, I am glad they are helping you out.

I know Meds aren't for everyone. I actually would like to find a natural supplement if at all possible. I take natural supplements when ever I can.
Inzane I'm sorry you went through that.

My breakover was caused by fighting 3 psychopaths for 2 years. I won all three battles but it took its toll.there was the mom'ster and one at work trying to destroy the company and my bosses were scared of him which left me to handel him and one who targeted the church and the preacher. Then he came after me cause i stopped him. I won that clash too.its was as if satan was just determined to break my ministry. But alls well now

The worse for me is when somebody says "We need to talk." I go into severe anxiety.

I've never been on Prozac, but I figured out that I can't take SSRIs.
So, Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft, any of those make me so much worse. :c
I don't have depression, though, so anytime anyone tries to give me an SSRI I just say no because they'd only give it to me off-label anyway.
Now I take buspar for anxiety and it works so much better than an SSRI.

yeah, i can't take SSRIs either. they make my mania and psychosis go off the charts. i take Lamictal for my depression. it's a mood stabilizer but it also has antidepressant effects. for my anxiety, i take Klonopin and it works great. i couldn't bear to do without it.

I've heard of Lamictal. :)
My psychiatrist has been extremely wary of putting me on benzos because I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and I guess it's not a thing to put people with schizophrenia on benzos? I will never understand his real reason. :s
But I am fine on the medications I take now. :D
I take two antipsychotics currently, I was supposed to switch over to Haldol injections, but since I am moving, my psychiatrist wants me to keep taking my pills until I move and then my new psychiatrist in LA can do the switch...

oof, man i was on Haldol before. i had been misdiagnosed with schizophreniform (i really have bipolar 2 with psychotic traits), and since i didn't need it Haldol basically turned me into a zombie. x_x i'm on two atypical antipsychotics now; seroquel for sleep & nighttime anxiety and latuda for psychosis.
i hope the switch goes well! do you have to administer the injections yourself?

I've heard that before, Haldol turning people into zombies. I think I'll be okay taking it because I currently take a typical antipsychotic called Stelazine and I've had very little issues with it. Although, I think it's supposed to be one of the oldest antipsychotics... So a lot of psychiatrists don't even prescribe it anymore.. If I'm remembering right, I think the brand name "Stelazine" doesn't even exist anymore. It's all generic. I also take Geodon. :P
Oh my gosh, no! xD I would never take injections if I had to administer them myself! I would just go to a clinic once a month. :)

yeah, i'm sure you'll be fine. i know it works for some people! and that's so funny that the med you take is so old it doesn't even exist anymore. xD
oh good! i have to do an injection for myself once a week and it's awful. x_x it's just so stressful and i already hate needles, let alone having to stick them in myself. blech.

@ghost
Yeah, it's weird actually. I sometimes have questions about my medication and sometimes I will google the brand name and all of the articles on it say "archived".
I could never give myself an injection. I get nervous and nauseous when I even get my blood drawn. I think giving myself an injection would be a one way street to faintingville.
