"When are you going to have to stop checking on me?" Julie pouted a bit. "Not that I mind you, but it's kind of vaguely annoying."

"Once you're not limping anymore," Maeve replied. "At least you're getting rid of the crutches soon."

"Yeah, another day or two." Julie grinned briefly as she gathered up her stuff. "Although I might keep them to keep threatening Clint."

Maeve rolled her eyes.

"What does he keep doing to warrant the threats?" she asked as she made sure she had her stuff.

"He keeps trying to sneak up behind me and poke me. And a few days ago when I was napping he decided to wake me up by firing a Nerf arrow at my forehead."

Maeve bit her lip, trying not to snicker at Julie.

"I can talk to Coulson," she offered after a moment. "See if he can get Clint to stop."

"No need for that, I just have to threaten him until he stops." Julie huffed. "I don't think I've ever been so glad for those javelin and sword fighting classes in college. Not just for understanding Shakespeare plays anymore."

Maeve snickered.

"No kidding," she said. "Hey, at least you got some practical use out of those classes."

"Seriously." Julie shook her head. "Well, let's get back, and we'll see how often I have to threaten Clint with these." She shook her crutches a little.

Maeve nodded and let Julie go first, following her out. All she really needed to do was walk her friend home, and she could honestly say that her asset was alright for the night.

Julie walked back with her and said good night once she was back at her apartment, settling in for the night.

Once Julie was home again, Maeve headed to her own apartment and settled in. She'd barely flopped over on her bed before she was asleep.

A week or so later, Tony was heading off to China to be there for the opening of a new branch of SI, the first in China. He knew he'd get a SHIELD escort, he just wasn't sure who. Especially since Pepper had to be at SI to keep track of stuff.

So he was surprised to see Maeve at his private airstrip.

Maeve grinned a bit when she saw Tony. She had been picked at his SHIELD escort since she had the most experience keeping him focused, and she had kind of jumped at the chance.

"Whenever you're ready," she said to him as she let him get on the plane first.

"Who'd you have to bribe to get this assignment?" Tony grinned. "Or who'd you piss off?" He made his way onto the plane, setting the suitcase armor down and stretching before flopping into a seat.

"There was no bribery or punishment, this time," Maeve said as she sat down. Her pokemon were all in their pokeballs; pokemon in general seemed not to like flying if it wasn't under their own power or something they could control. "They put me here because I have the most experience in working with you, aside from Coulson."

"Ah, that kind of assignment. I've been turned into an experience-based chore." Tony grinned. "This is kind of awesome."

"It was volunteer-based, at first," Maeve said, grinning. "One of the other agents up for consideration actually burst into tears."

Tony damn near cackled. "Nice to know SHIELD agents know how to handle me," he said cheerfully as he got comfortable, signaling to one of the pilots that he was ready to go.

"Like I said, I have the most experience," Maeve said as she got comfortable in her seat.

Tony was quiet as the plane took off and got airborne.

"Well, I hope you like China."

"Never been," Maeve replied. "I've only ever been outside of the States on my own once, not counting when I was born. And, you know, SHIELD missions. But those don't count because I don't get to do anything fun."

"Oh, we'll have time for fun," Tony said with a grin. "So now you'll be able to say you've been out of country not only on a private jet but also gone and done fun things. Whatever kind of fun things you think are appropriate in China."

"I'm just anticipating getting back to the States in one piece," Maeve said. She grinned sheepishly. "I'm not all that good at big fancy things, and considering they told me to bring an evening gown..."

"You'll be fine," Tony said with a careless shrug. "Don't worry about it. Besides, if you trip or something I'll just divert attention with one of those media things that drive Pepper insane."
