"I'm perfectly capable of walking in heels," Maeve said. "I can even dance a bit." She paused for a moment. "I just lack anything that even remotely resembles social grace."

"I doubt you'll have to do much of that," Tony said with a shrug. "I'll be doing most of the talking, most likely, although if you want to talk to people you can. Just be polite. Chinese are big on that."

Maeve nodded; she'd been told most of this already before being let out of the Helicarrier. Really, she was just there to keep an eye on Tony.

Tony noticed the look and laughed quietly. "Already heard all this?" he asked, leaning back in his seat.

"Coulson likes to be thorough," Maeve offered by way of explanation. "I was also told to only allow one pokemon out with me while we're at the thing, so Gardevoir will be with me."

"Good choice. Ninetails will be out with me. He's an old hand at these things, so he's used to it all." Tony shrugged. "Gardevoir should be okay, just warn her that there will be a lot of people around."

"Oh I will," Maeve said, nodding. "I would rather it be her than Chandelure or Ditto. She behaves much better." But she would be sure to warn her pokemon ahead of time about all the people, so they were both prepared.

Tony nodded and stretched briefly before collapsing in his boneless flop in the chair. Hey, it was a long flight, and he didn't really want the stripper pole up at the moment.

Maeve grinned a bit.

"I'd let you play with Ditto," she said, "but the poor thing doesn't like big machines much."

"It's probably better not to let it out on the plane." Tony shrugged. "I might let out Ninetails, though. He gets huffy if he's in for too long."

"Gardevoir is the only one who might be okay to be let out," Maeve said. "Ditto won't like it, and I doubt Chandelure will, either."

"Chandelure will also likely wreak havoc with the machines," Tony pointed out as he grabbed Ninetails' ball to let the pokemon out. Ninetails shook himself and stretched.

"Yeah," Maeve said. "So my three are likely going to stay in until we hit the ground again."

"Good idea." Tony grinned and pulled a tablet out of somewhere.

Ninetails padded over and jumped up on the empty seat next to Maeve, surveying her more closely. He wanted to make sure she'd be fine to walk next to him and his person, after all.

Maeve blinked when Ninetails jumped up next to her.

"Haven't seen you in a while," she commented. "Looking after Tony keeping you busy too?"

Ninetails snorted and dipped his head in a nod. No kidding. Keeping track of Tony was a full-time obligation.

Maeve grinned.

"I'll bet," she said. She stretched a bit. "I'll do what I can to make it a bit easier."

Ninetails huffed and flicked a tail. By now, he thought that was kind of impossible. But hey, he'd give her a chance. A chance.

"I said a little easier," Maeve said. "I don't expect miracles." She grinned a bit, though.

Ninetails snorted again at that. Okay, he liked her, she was being realistic and everything. He flicked a tail again, settling more comfortably.

Maeve settled in as well, and she ended up dozing off for a bit. Long flights were good for napping on.

They were nearing the end of the flight when Tony noticed something odd. His pilots hadn't checked in for a while, which was unusual. And he was pretty sure he didn't recognize this part of the country they were flying over.

And they were descending too early.

He stood and strode over to the door separating the pilots, rapping on the door twice.

Maeve woke out of her doze when Tony got up, and she watched him.

"Something wrong?" she asked.

"We're descending too soon." Tony rapped on the door again. "And my pilots aren't responding." He swore and pulled out a pad, starting to remotely check the systems.

Maeve's attention sharpened and she got up. She habitually checked her weapon as she went over to the door. It was a solid, sealed door, and it was locked tight. She could probably get in, but she had no idea what could be on the other side, and she couldn't take that risk.
