Maeve made her way out once the situation seemed to be under control.

"Any word from SHIELD?" she asked. She trusted Tony's tech more than her own, at the moment.

"The first group will be here soon," Tony said. "They'll secure the area first. Coulson will take longer, he's still somewhere over the Pacific. Apparently he left when we didn't check in after we landed."

"I'm so glad he's anal about check-ins," Maeve said with a sigh. "So glad."

Tony nodded, still watching the flunkies to make sure no one got any funny ideas. When one of them started inching towards a computer, he blasted the floor in front of them. They were all quickly deterred and went back to cowering.

It didn't take long for the backup from SHIELD to arrive, and Maeve very nearly fainted with relief when she saw the agents arrive and secure the area.

Tony lifted the faceplate and got Maeve back out of the way and back into the other room to wait for Coulson to arrive. He was so relieved that everything turned out okay, especially since Maeve had stopped bleeding, that before he could talk himself out of it he kissed her.

Maeve was relieved and exhausted enough that she didn't fight when Tony picked her up to move her out of the way. She was surprised, however, when he suddenly kissed her, and she couldn't help but blush.

Tony pulled back after a few moments, his eyes still bright, before he made himself set her on the table. Okay, that had been a bad idea all around. Bad Idea. Very Bad Idea.

"Tony...?" Maeve asked uncertainly, watching him.

"Coulson's almost here with the second group of agents," Tony said, taking a half-step back. He'd gotten too close to admitting he had Feelings, and that was Bad. "They'll be able to treat your shoulder as soon as they arrive."

That hadn't been what she was asking, and he knew it, but Maeve didn't push the issue for the moment. Tony seemed intent on dancing around the incident for now, and besides, there were other things to worry about. So she just nodded.

Tony moved into the hallway to flag down Coulson once they arrived, and a few agents moved into the room to treat Maeve and make sure she was alright.

Maeve had to bite down on a twisted rag while they pulled the bullet out of her shoulder, but otherwise was deemed in good health.

"What happened here, Stark?" Coulson asked when he got there.

"Someone got to my pilots," Tony said, his voice still tight with fury. "We landed too early. Someone knocked us out, left us in a room. We escaped, and we were trying to find our pokemon when a few goonies stumbled on us and Maeve got shot." He shrugged. "I got my armor back and they stopped fighting."

Coulson nodded.

"I'll look into it," he said. And he meant personally; he wasn't going to hand this one off to an underling, not when it was the second time something like this happened to one of his hand-picked agents.

Tony nodded. "I need to call Pepper," he said. Because he knew she'd be worrying about him by now.

Coulson nodded and stepped aside, letting him go and turning to start giving orders to the agents.

Tony called Pepper to assure her that he was fine and Maeve was fine and everything was fine, he'd just missed the opening of the branch. After getting over her relief, Pepper ranted at him and then said she'd be waiting for them and they'd need to get a quinjet back, and she'd start screening new pilots for him.

Maeve, on the other hand, had found her cell phone and called Julie once her arm had been put into a sling.

"Come on, Jules, pick up," she murmured as it rang on the other end. "Now is not the time for you to have finally jumped Rodgers."

Julie answered in time to hear the last few words. "Who are you talking about?" she asked, sounding amused and a little bit alarmed.

Maeve grinned a bit.

"I'm just taking bets on when you'll finally drag Steve into bed," she joked. "No worries. Anyways, I was calling to check in with you and make sure everything was okay on your end. My mission went completely bad, Coulson's furious, Tony's furious, I'm sure Fury's going to be flipping his shit." She sighed. "I'm going to be taken off active for a while, my arm's in a sling right now."

"Your turn, I see," Julie answered with a snort. "Well, if Coulson's there and furious then everything is apparently okay. Everything's fine here, so don't worry about anything until you get home. How'd you get hurt, anyway?"

"Caught a bullet," Maeve replied, grimacing a bit at both the radiating ache in her shoulder and her anticipation of Julie's reaction.

"Ah." Julie was quiet for a moment. "So how bad is it? Take several weeks to heal type bad or just bad shot you'll be okay in a few weeks?"

"They were able to get the bullet out already," Maeve said. "And they didn't say it was really bad. So maybe a few weeks? A month?"
