Stark Tech always surpasses expectations. And Jarvis is Stark Tech. Maeve took her time getting to the tower, but she eventually did and let herself in.

Tony was still tinkering, though he did have a pad out on the table. Ninetails looked over when Maeve entered but didn't bother actually getting up.

Maeve knocked on the doorframe with her good hand.

"Hey," she said. "I heard you wanted some company that you didn't build yourself?"

"Well, I've got some, but some that talks back will be nice." Tony looked over at her with a grin, though it wasn't quite normal.

Maeve grinned.

"Jarvis meets that criteria," she teased as she sat down.

"He doesn't talk back, he back-talks," Tony said with a snort. "Besides, I did build him."

"Indeed, sir. How is still a marvel."

"See what I mean?"

Maeve couldn't help but snicker.

"Wow, Sass-Master Jarvis over here," she said. "He might actually rival Sass-Master Coulson."

"I wouldn't dream of competing against Agent Coulson," Jarvis replied, though his voice was still dry.

Tony just snorted.

"You could definitely rival SItwell, though," Maeve said. "He's learning sass from Coulson, we think."

"Makes sense," Tony agreed. "Alright, go ahead and run those scans, J. Let me know when they're done."

"Of course, sir."

"So what have you been tinkering with?" Maeve asked. She looked at him. "And you haven't gotten any sleep, have you? Coffee is not an acceptable substitute, Tony."

"I'll sleep tomorrow. I had a few ideas for upgrades for the suitcase armor, so I'm making a new one." Tony shrugged. "Might as well, right?"

"How much of a beating did the first one take?" Maeve asked. She grinned a bit. "I'd say put it on an expense report for SHIELD, but the money wouldn't actually be moving, would it?"

"Not that bad, didn't take me long to repair." Tony snorted. "And no, the money wouldn't be going anywhere. Although I'd love to see the look on his face."

Maeve snickered.

"It would be hysterical," she said. Then she paused and groaned a bit. "Ugh, that reminds me of all the paperwork I have to fill out now... damn it."

"This is why I don't work for them, there's too much paperwork. I can't be bothered to do my own paperwork, I hire people to do it for me." Tony grinned a bit and leaned over the new suit, poking at something.

"I am that hired paperwork person," Maeve pointed out. "I can't delegate my paperwork." She sighed. "I bet I'll get an email any day now about it."

"Probably." Tony snorted. "Unless Julie already did it."

"I won't assume she did," Maeve said. "I'll ask her, though."

Tony nodded. "Fair enough." He looked back down at his tinkering, staying quiet for several moments.

"So what are you doing Thursday night?"

Maeve blinked at the sudden change in topic.

"Nothing that I know of," she said. "Why?"

"Good, keep it open," Tony said, still tinkering. "And wear something comfortable."

Maeve raised an eyebrow.

"I'm going to be wearing comfortable things for a while, my arm is in a sling for two more weeks," she said. "What are you planning?"

"Nothing big," Tony said with a shrug. "Just something fun for us." He carefully didn't look at her.

Maeve blinked, and then blushed a bit when she put the pieces together.

"Like, a date?" she asked.
